Must-have for recovery after surgery
This shirt is amazing and so well designed. I had a bilateral mastectomy and was unable to shower until my surgical drains were removed. This shirt was a lifesaver. So easy to put on and kept the covered area completely dry. It made a huge difference to be able to shower, even if it’s just the lower half of my body. Also included great tips for washing one’s hair — bend at the waist and lean your head down under the shower spray! This shirt was way more than I expected to pay, but it was also very well made, high quality, and thoughtfully designed. When you’re recovering from surgery and trying to protect a delicate surgery area, you definitely want and need a quality garment to protect you so you can take a shower and feel somewhat human again.

Lifesaver for hair washing post surgery
This garment is a life saver! After my surgeries I was able to have my hair washed and bathe my lower body for the duration that I needed to keep the surgical sites dry. Make sure you seal off all of the entry points per the instructions. I wore it while leaning back and having someone else wash my hair. It felt like I was getting wet through the garment, but when I was finished I was still dry. Even though it is advertised as water resistant vs. waterproof, I had no problems with the material becoming saturated. The drain pockets were a huge plus. I feel that it was worth every cent in order bathe and keep my surgical sites dry. (NOTE: I didn't stand directly under the water stream of the shower head).

Don't buy it!
Tried this after surgery. IT was useless.

would be better if it was waterproof. resisits water but I still had to tape plastic bags to myself
This product would be better if it were waterproof. I have wounds that I need to keep dry. It does repel water but once the water hits it hard (even by accident) it quickly becomes saturated and water soaks through to the skin beneath. You will not stay dry unless you attach plastic to the areas that need to remain dry underneath this shirt. It does repel some water for a short time but don't think you will stay dry if the shower hits the shirt...you will get wet.

Works, just not real comfortable
I was hesitant to purchase, but needed something seems my dr said no showers until my surgical drains from masectomy came out. First off, no way could I have gotten into this by myself with not being able to lift my one hand to my neck. With that said, hubby has gotten the neck a little too tight a couple of times. I wish there was some kind of neoprene edge for all edges to help keep water out, and for comfort as well. I have followed the not standing directly under the water instructions, and my mid section has stayed dry though, so it does do what its intended to do. Ive been using it for 3 weeks now, and it seems like Ill be able to put it away and use again for my reconstructive surgery as well.

Really well made! Better than the photos.
I just had a double mastectomy and I can't shower for a total of about 3 weeks, and I'm not happy. I found this shower shirt and the price seemed steep compared to the product images, but I can't go 3 weeks without a shower so I pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I did! This isn't just a trash bag, it's really well made and constructed out of nice heavy material. There is a soft lining around the neck and it kept water out completely. I was able to wash my hair and pretty much everything except my surgical area and felt so much better. My one piece of advice is to not take a super hot, long shower. The shirt is water tight and I wanted to hang out in there but could tell I was starting to get a sauna effect and get sweaty.

A Solid Pass on this Shower Shirt.
The shower shirt was recommended for mastectomy patients to keep incisions dry. I bought one in preparation for my surgery. OMG it was like a straight-jacket! It had velcro and zippers and elastic bands and drawstrings galore! I can promise you this heavy gauge water repellant garment would definitely keep your torso dry. It is hot, and cumbersome. Difficult to see what you can wash because it puffs out when you bend over. I definitely felt over-dressed and not shower-clean! This shower shirt was expensive and time consuming to don. Take my advice and just turn your body away from the spray, let the warm water cascade down your back and enjoy washing the parts you need to, then dry off the sutures (if they got sprayed) when you get out! PS Use a simple piece of string around your neck and slip the JP drains onto it. You don't need to spend $$ for this.

Best post mastectomy product I’ve bought
I was hesitant at first about spending this much $, but I was really concerned about keeping up on hygiene after my double mastectomy. I’m so glad I got it. I have showered every day since my surgery, including washing my hair (I bend my head over to do this, haven’t done it standing upright) I do use a handheld shower head, but there’s no way I would of been able to keep my drains and incisions dry (and they have been COMPLETELY DRY) from the spray and splashing, this whole time. Since day 1 I have been able to get it on and off myself, and tuck it right up under my ribs so was able to even wash my lower back. You do need to be careful with spraying water directly at your neck, I could see it managing to breach the neck seal, although I haven’t had this happen. I am far happier with this product than I ever could of imagined. 10 stars and well worth the money (if you’re a hygiene freak like I am). Overall, it’s helped to bring some normalcy to me during a time where nothing in my life is normal anymore lol.

Did not work
It didn’t work for my mom. She could not zip it. The Velcro was too hard to undo and it was too tight around the arms. It’s a great idea, but not for everyone
