Excellent dance/trance mix.
This is a great dance/trance mix that doesn't quite get 5 stars because there are a handful of tracks on CD1 that let it down. From playing both CD's right through, I would say CD1 is more soft trance and some of the tracks are very, very short, it seems they are just getting going and then it changes to the next track. CD2 really brings it home though, it is full on trance and melodic. Pump up the volume on CD2 on a Friday/Saturday night and you will not be disappointed.

Depends on your style
I don't like giving less stars for an album when the only justification for doing so is personal taste. This album captures quite a large range of electronic music... from pure cut trance to quite housey stuff. Because I generally like one specific sector of electronic music more than others, I only enjoy the songs that fit into that genre - to give you a clue, I love Phoria - J Amnesia - G Ottaviani tracks on CD2 the most. Basically, whilst the whole lot could be classed as 'trance,' it is such a broad genre these days that like me, you may only like parts of this album.I think what may have been better is if PvD had cut down on the number of tracks. There are too many short songs of less than 2 minutes; some so short you can't tell whether you like them or not. I also don't like the use of combined tracks either, where one track is combined with an acapella vocal of another, for example. Again, I do recognise this is personal taste. But I do think we fail to understand the ultimate best 'Cream' tracks of the moment, because there are too many. 3 cd's could have worked better, at least the shortest songs could be longer and thus more complete then.I highly recommend this album for those of you who want the most up-to-date trance/electronic music around, and who want a pretty powerful party in your house. It is 160 minutes of a never ending club, for those who like the hidden depths of music. Plus, as usual, it is stunningly mixed by PvD, and despite my general dislike of this idea, only he could get away with mixing 2 songs into 1!If you like specific sections of electronic/trance music, maybe get something a little more focussed.

PvD back to his best
For me his best album will always be Vorsprung Dyk Technic just because I had never heard anything so banging and yet beautifully trancey and melodic at that time. Feeling that he had slightly gone off the boil recently and been surpassed by the likes of Armin and Above & Beyond, this album came as a pleasant surprise. Trance has moved on and so has PVD since the halcyon days of Vorsprung D Technic and Politics of Dancing 1&2 etc and this album has some great tracks.CD1 is more downtempo with some elctro and deeper, hypnotic and melodic tunes, but still great tracks, the influence of Dj/producers such as Deadmau5 and Kyau&Albert on trance can't be denied and is evident in the track selection.CD2 is full on trance, but just not the formulaic generic stuff that hits all the right buttons but somehow leaves you unsatisfied. Its deeper, more driving but still euphoric, and as always his mixing is absolutely outstanding.Dont believe the naysayers in earlier reveiws; I haven't bought a Cream mix for years but this is well worth it. If this is a selection of what was being played on Trance nights such as in Amnesia Ibiza recently, I wish I'd been there dancing till they dragged me out of the club!

Surprisingly excellent
It's been a few years since I've bothered with Cream mix CDs, as in my opinion there's been a fair few duds along the way. This, however, is not one of them. PvD delivers two absolutely stonking mixes, which for me do almost a good a job of capturing the spirit of the island as Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise 6.If you're expecting wall-to-wall trance, then the first disc is likely to disappoint you. Ibiza's not just about Trance though, so if you can open your mind a little you'll find a selection of excellent tracks, all mixed with PvD's usual flair. The second disc is more trancey, but still retains that balearic feel. Over all, this is definitely one of my favourite compilations this year, and for the price you can't go wrong.
