Peak Gear Crossbody Travel Purse with RFID Blocking Pocket and Lifetime Recovery Service. Nylon Shoulder Bag

Just before a trip, the strap to my Baggallini broke and I was unable to get just the strap (no match available). I didn’t want to pay the price of a Baggallini, but it is my go-to for travel. I love the expandable bottom. Then I found this Peak Gear bag, and it’s perfect! It’s deep enough that I don’t miss the expandable bottom, but not so big that I feel like I have a big tote on my shoulders. I love it! (especially at about half the price of the B) It wears well, has lots of pockets and a sturdy nylon fabric. I also use it when walking my dog because it’s has plenty of room for treats, poo bags, and a water, but doesn’t feel heavy. Yep, it’s my new favorite!

I bought this bag in 2024, and it's become my go-to bag for every day and travel use. It's roomy enough to hold a lot of items while remaining relatively flat to my body, and having many hidden compartments is handy. This bag has held up very well through a variety of weather types during traveling, I recommend it.

UPATE OCTOBER 2025: The magnetic closure of one of the bag's compartments finally gave out with minimal use (I have lots of bags) when I took it on a week-long trip this September. It was the same magnet that I'd mentioned in my first review as being flimsy. It finally did rip through the fabric. I'd made the purchase quite a while ago back in April of 2019, so took a look at my purchase to confirm that there was a lifetime warranty. I contacted customer service and sent a photo of the tear, and the warranty was honored and I was sent a brand new bag. Well, at first I was sent the wrong bag, their sling bag, but they let me keep that and sent out the replacement for the nylon crossbody. I couldn't be happier with their outstanding customer service. Also, the sling bag is very nice as well, very well-made, and also has a magnetic closure, which I look for in a day bag for easy access to my phone in particular. I recommend not only the bags but purchasing from this company in general. They stood by their lifetime warranty, and I really appreciated that. I received my Peak Gear cross body travel bag the other day and am THRILLED with it, so thrilled that I transferred everything from my older daily bag that was showing wear, used it right away to do an errand, and it was just perfect, with everything easily accessible thanks to the magnetic closures and wide back pocket. On top of that, I emailed customer service with a question, and received a reply within just hours--on a weekend. I really love bags with magnetic closures and back pockets--this bag has both, including three magnetic closures (front flap, center, and back pocket) in addition to the zippered compartments. I had wanted a light carry-on bag for travel this summer, and this bag checks all the boxes for that and is roomy enough to carry everything I need. A really nice add-on is the Return Me digital tag, and that made the decision to buy this bag a no-brainer. I like it so much, I might get the burgundy one too. A few things that would improve the bag for me would be just a smidge larger width. I had had a smaller cross body bag height-wise, but that was maybe 1/2" to 3/4" wide, which had that easily accommodated both my 3.5" wide smartphone and a 4" wide hinged wallet in the back pocket, with the magnetic snap keeping both separated nicely and very easily accessible, and I would love to see that improvement to the Peak Gear bag. I would also possibly make the straps just a little bit wider or with a bit of padding. Lastly, the magnet for the main compartment is a bit on the flimsy side for the strength of the magnets and pulls a bit too much on the fabric. They look to possibly be sewn on, so I wonder if one if going to give at some point, as they're pretty loose right now, although if that happens, it looks like an easy sewing repair. Other than that, this bag is absolutely perfect for my needs, and I look forward to using it not just for travel but daily.

The purse has lots of space to make it a good purse for travel with some caveats - I would not recommend it for city travel. I am not a huge fan of how the straps are attached, which I didn't key into when making the purchase. Instead of each side of the strap being attached individually on each side, the strap goes through both metal loops and across the top of the bag to make one continuous loop. The problem is that if the purse is not completely full it kind of caves in on itself giving a squished appearance. The straps themselves are relatively thin and not reinforced with cabling making it easy for someone to cut it if you are in an area where pickpocketing or the like runs high. While the RFID feature is nice, the purse itself is not all that secure. The zippers are placed to where someone (other than the wearer) could easily access the contents. I do like that the interior RFID zipper pouch is large and could easily hold a Kindle or similar size device. If you are doing serious travel, especially overseas you would want a bag that has more robust security features. For everyday the bag is fine. I will likely keep it as it's a good bag for work, concerts, dinner out, etc. It's lightweight, does have adequate storage and would probably hold a 12 oz water bottle, a Totes small umbrella and whatever else you need for your day to day. Because of the RFID feature it is only recommended to spot clean it, but if that feature is not of value to you then I think washing it in a lingerie bag would be fine. 1) lots of storage 2) skimpy straps, could be easily cut 3) could be washable 4) not the most secure compartments, but convenient if you need access to your phone or other frequently used items 5) straps look like they could pill over time

I bought this purse for a trip to Costa Rica. I wanted something that was both water resistant and comfortable to wear, with lots of different pockets to securely store things like my passport, ID, and wallet— but also with easy access to things like my phone, hand sanitizer, small water bottle, etc. And I wanted something that looked like an actual purse, not something that immediately made me stand out as a tourist (I mean, I already did stand out as a tourist – – but I wanted something reasonably attractive). This purse was absolutely perfect! I love the burgundy/wine color – – gave it a little pop – – but was neutral enough to go with most anything. It has so many pockets and zippers – – both inside and outside— that it’s very easy to compartmentalize things. I had my passport and ID in an inner pocket with a zipper – – my phone in an outer pocket with a zipper, flashlights in another pocket, my wallet in one of the main areas, lipstick and hair ties in another pocket, and even pens in a little pen pocket. If someone had wanted to pickpocket me, they would’ve had to unzip the main compartment, root around inside, and try unzipping several inner pockets before finding any valuable documents or money. It was big enough to accommodate some extra little things that I might buy during the day (souvenirs or snacks) – – but definitely not so big that it was heavy or so that everything got lost inside. It was light and appropriate for hiking or for going to the nice restaurant. it worked well both in the city and in rural areas. This, and a small backpack, were all I ever needed to carry around with me. Even after returning home, I’m still using this purse – – because it’s so practical and convenient – – and it looks fine. The strap is also adjustable – – so you can wear it over the shoulder or Crossbody – your preference. Highly recommend.

Got this bag to take on an upcoming trip to Europe, and it looks like it's going to be perfect! For starters, I love the RFID pocket--it's much deeper than I anticipated, so it should hold my small wallet and my passport, too! (But not too deep that they won't be easily accessible.) Plus the RFID pocket is a zippered pocket that's easily accessible within the main, zippered section of the bag, so that's multiple layers of protection. But the RFID pocket it just for starters. There are also two open pockets in the zippered main compartment so I can easily slip my cellphone into one for easy access (but still safe because of the main zipper! And that's just the start of the pockets. There's also another section on the front of this bag that's closed just by a flap with a magnetic clasp--the perfect place to stick snacks, kleenex, etc., that doesn't need protecting. AND in front of that, there's another zippered pocket that I'll be using for lip balm, etc.--small things I want handy, without digging through my bag, but I need them more secure so I don't lose them. AND if that weren't enough, there's ANOTHER pocket on the back side that's also enclosed with just one magnetic snap in the middle, so you could carry taller things that need to stick out without a zipper or flap interfering. I'm thinking a travel umbrella, etc. The rest of the purse seems pretty great, too. Like the waterproof nylon, and the adjustable strap that lets it hang on the front of my hip so my hand/arm naturally set on top of it--as another layer of protection!. The only downside is it isn't slash-proof, but I've heard those are heavy. And I'm hoping that because it rides on the front of my hip, with my hand over it, and I can hold it in front of me whenever I'm sitting, that the lack of slash-proof tech won't matter. Oh, and did I mention that the middle section is big enough to carry a tablet and a handful of other things, too? Plus, it folds up really small, which I need since I'm gonna pack it for travel on a 2-week trip where I'm only taking carry-ons. And if that weren't enough, the company also throws in a ReturnMe ID, so if you would happen to lose it, whoever finds it has an easier way to get it back to you! One little caveat: I haven't used it yet, but it's absolutely everything I was looking for in a purse for this. Fingers crossed it performs as expected!

Great travel bag. Not to huge and bulky but big enough for wallet, tickets, phone and a few essential. Nice shape, not like wearing a box on your hip.

This is an excellent price for the quality of this bag. Has a nice variety of five outside compartments with a combination of magnetic, snap and zippered closings. I like that the top zipper opens all the way across so that it can be opened wide (unlike those bags with a curved zippered opening). I like that it has a light-colored lining so you can see what’s inside, unlike black-lined bags. It could have fit the bill for a not-too-small, light-weight bag. Would have given 5 stars if not for the downsides: 1. It is not 7” wide, it is 3” wide measured between the two bottom seams. 2. The inside zippered pocket goes all the way down to the bottom of the inside of the bag. Thus, everything piles up at the bottom. The problem with this is, with everything dropping to the bottom, it bulges into the the bottom of the main compartment (with nothing really big: little tub of lip balm, small thin pill box, very small eye-drop bottle -- 2.5 x .5", very small hand lotion-- 2.5x1.5x .5” ), so I have to dig deep down to find things in the zippered compartment. Would have been better with a shorter zippered inside compartment. 3. Inside slip pockets have too much fabric, so they, too, bulge out and smaller things fall over inside them (my small hand sanitizer) unless you have something that is very close to the width (the fold-over Kleenex packages). Almost anything I put in them bulges out or falls over, even my iPhone XR, but one of the other outside pockets works well for a phone. 4. ...Same thing with the outside pockets. Though they are shallower but they, too, are at the bottom of the bag, bulging into the main compartment if you put anything in them. 5. ...This makes the main compartment even harder to get bigger things out, wallet, small cosmetic case (4x4”), glasses, etc. Everything sinks to the bottom, unlike a more structured bag where you can reach in and see everything, instead everything is piled up because it is so narrow and the bulging in of the other compartments makes it even narrower. It would have been perfect were it not, for me, these flaws. In my case, I have arthritis in both thumbs so having to dig into what feels like a “bottom-less pit" of a purse is very uncomfortable. Small things get lost and I sometimes have to even pull things out to get to the items at the bottom. For this reason it would have been better, for me, had the bag been wider (as in the description) and not as deep, so I wouldn’t have to dig and reach in so far for everything. Overall, with the pile-up at the bottom, it actually lengthens to over 9”. If you don’t have the problem that I have with my hands (and impatience/frustration at having to dig in to the compartments to find something), I would recommend it for the price, quality construction and all the positive features I mentioned at the beginning.

This bag is perfect. I can access my items inside with ease. I love the different compartments keeping everything organized. It’s super lightweight so excellent for travel. The nylon material makes it easy to wipe off and keep clean. Highly recommend.
