Would this floating eyewear retainer be good for kid's glasses?
How tightly should this on my glasses? It is just sliding right on and off, and I worry won't actually be any good at securely holding my eyeglasses

They will float my Oakley Jacket 2,0

My Oakley prescription glasses are large and pretty heavy and was pleased to see that the Hides 2.0 could float them. The glasses are too large to use the neoprene part as a case but that was not the main reason I got them. As Rx glasses the Oakleys cost me about $500. With the hides I am comfortable to float on a lake or use our stand up paddle board. I would be less confident on a jet ski as I think the hides could pull off. They are cheap insurance in the right situation. Was worried the bulk of these would bother me but they don't at all

It works

My biggest problem with it is mostly the ugly color. I am not an orange person, but it is easy to find. I am a lifeguard so I am required to have something like this. It is easy to retain when it falls off my head in the water. The bright color makes it easier to spot which was why I got the orange one not black. It is a good product, it stays attached to my glasses and keeps them from vanishing under the water when I jump in. It does what it is suppose to, but would of loved it more in a better color. But really no complaints from me.

I love the idea

I keep this on my water sports sunglasses, I love the idea, and it works fairly well. I find it a little tough to get the case wrapped around the glasses, it seems to twist up a bit, and in working to get them in, the glasses usually get smudged up. But for me it's still a keeper. It floats as advertised, protects the glasses and I love not having a another case to lose. It won't provide a lot of hard-impact protection, but I toss the wrapped glasses in my backpack with clothes, radios, keys, PFD, etc and it has provided adequate protection for that level of use.

This is a great idea - a sunglass retainer that floats AND protects your glasses when not in use. Genius! I like the blaze orange, so they don't get lost, too. I like the short length - the drawback to this design as opposed to Chums or similar is that you can't snug it to your head/neck. But this short size should stay on pretty well, especially under my hat. Now, to test the float function. I'm curious to see if it will float when deployed as a sunglass case, too.

They really hold glasses and they float!

These came in very handy at the beach. I managed to jump in the water and the shades stayed on.I only wish that they would manufacture a way to allow you to fit them on different sized glasses. They are made so that they fit snugly on legs of your glasses. With that in mind, if the end tips of your glasses are very thick or wide, then these retainers will not go fit on them. The brand makes other non-floating glass retainers in different sizes. So far I have not seen any that the user could adjust.

Bag isn't very useful

Overall I like this as a float and retainer, but the secondary use as a pouch isn't very easy to use or useful. It's a wide band and probably looks goofy, but if I jump in the river and my glasses fall off, I'm confident I'll see this floating away.

love 'em

don't leave for the stream without it. floats like a cork. I'm always knocking my glasses from my head when I'm flyfishing. I still do, but now these floaters save me hundreds on my prescription glasses and sunglasses. I got 'em in blaze orange to make it easier to see them in the water without, of course, my glasses on. Even when I knock the glasses off and one of the cinches comes off the earpiece, the other cinch will hold the glasses afloat until I can get to them. Most often I wear the popular ic! berlin frames, nufenen and albula, and they have thinner earpieces. The Hides cinches hold these earpieces fairly tightly; that is to say, this model retainer might not be the right one for larger earpieces.

Perfect for being on the water! Buy these now!

I knew that a product existed that combined retainer/lens cloth/cover for sunglasses, but I have not come across in your typical outdoor outfitter or sunglass shop.Well, search Amazon and b00m! Hides is sold primarily in specialty eyewear stores, but thankfully also available on Amazon. The length is perfect for high activity, when you want to keep the sunglasses in reach, should you need to take them off (i.e., fishing). Oh, and since they float, these retainers give additional peace of mind.I am looking at buying additional pairs of Hides classic in different colors. They pair well with most any type of sports sunglasses. I highly recommend Edge Eyewear for a cost effective set of sunglasses, that also happen to be ANSI safety rated!
