Good unit
Fantastic so far. I run mine on a small solar setup and it cools as well as three of my smaller units. The fan blows lots of air and keeps everything circulating. With this addition I was able to completely shut off my heat pump and we've saved a ton on electricity without ever coming home to a hot house.

Does the job
Does the job. Cools the whole first floor. Kitchen and living room. Always get a larger btu than you think you need. The price was right too.

Good for the price but not as good as the brand used to be
Works well enough for now.. I have it in a somewhat large area.. cools okay but it only shuts off after the sun goes down.. had a older unit same BTU and I feel it did better.. it cycled on and off all day and night.. it is kinda loud on high but it seems to work on medium just as well.. no cooling difference between high and medium.. however the dehumidifier works absolutely great I use it when I'm cooking in the kitchen and it seems to draw all the moisture out of the home no problem.. I just don't understand how the old unit being the same BTU outperforms this one and it's brand new be old one was like 12 years old but not bad for the money Whirlpool is a good brand we'll see how it goes this is the first summer let's see how everything works out and I will update

Bad - Do Not Recommend Buying
Provides the same amount of cooling as my 5000 BTU air conditioner and this thing is insanely loud on the high setting. You cannot sit in the same room as this air conditioner on the high setting because it is too loud. You would never be able to hear the television, read a book or concentrate on anything if you are in the same room as this air conditioner on the high setting. Price was reasonable, but it is too loud and does not provide enough cooling for a 8000 BTU air conditioner. I would highly recommend buying another brand. This was the first and last time I will buy a Whirlpool product. I highly recommend you buy another air conditioner.
