GEARWRENCH started in 1996 with the birth of the Original Ratcheting Wrench. Today the brand has continued to innovate products by adding productivity features to many product platforms. Featuring 45-Tooth full polish chrome quick-release ratchets and knurled extension bars for a much needed grip when working on the job. Full polish chrome makes clean-up easy. Sockets and wrenches feature off corner loading technology to reduce fastener rounding. Review: Excellent product. - Love this tool brand! Building up my tool arsenal slowly but surely. Very nice case keeps tools visible and easy to get what you need when on the go. This is only for small jobs obviously since it's a 1/4" drive. Very satisfied with this purchase! Review: Stubby Sockets... shorter sockets than standard shallow - Stubby Sockets... shorter sockets than standard shallow. This is an excellent value if you want to add the shorter socket option to fit into tight places. good build quality and an absolutely great option in foam to put yet another set of sockets in your box that is just different enough to come in handy. Ratchet is good enough and the fit and finish of the whole kit makes a great value for the price over buying the sockets separately

Fantastic Tools, but the Listing is a Mess
I’ve been a fan of GEARWRENCH for a long time, and this 3/8" drive set doesn't disappoint in terms of build quality. However, I’m knocking off a star because the Amazon product description is surprisingly inaccurate, and you should know exactly what you’re getting before you hit "Buy Now." The Tools Themselves The 72-tooth ratchet is smooth as silk with a very tight swing arc—perfect for cramped engine bays. The chrome finish on the sockets is top-tier and wipes clean easily. GEARWRENCH consistently punches above its weight class, competing well with much more expensive "off-the-truck" brands. ⚠️ Warning: Description Errors If you are buying this specifically based on the current title or bullet points, take note of these discrepancies: Socket Type: The listing says 12-point, but these are actually 6-point sockets. Personally, I prefer 6-point for heavy-duty mechanics work because they grip the flats of the bolt better and prevent rounding, but if you specifically need 12-point for certain automotive applications, this isn't the set for you. Piece Count: This is advertised as a 36-piece set, but the kit I received (and the one pictured) is actually a 35-piece set. It's a small difference, but accuracy matters when you're organizing a toolbox. Final Verdict If you want a high-quality, reliable 35-piece, 6-point mechanics set, this is a 5-star value. But because the listing is misleading about the piece count and the point style, I’m giving it 4 stars. The tools are great; the description needs a serious update.

Worth it
Ok, if you have a fun set of mechanics tools, and don't need anything else, you won't even be looking at this review. If you want to work on your own stuff at home and are looking fro a solid set of sockets to get you started... move on, this is not enough, it will only make you sad. BUT... if you are looking fro a backup set, a small set to keep in your trunk for small fix-it jobs, or something for little around the house jobs... then this is a surprisingly good set. Personally I am keeping it in my trunk, but I have used it many times already... I like Gearwrench, I have some of their geared box end wrenches, and I love them... this is really just a basic set, it wont take you very far... unless you are only doing those simple jobs that just call for a 10mm... or something like taking lugs off a fence, replacing carriage bolts... simply small jobs. The set feels very durable, like I am just tossing the whole case in my trunk, and so far nothing is broken. The overall feel of the tools, the smooth edges, the gears... it all feels really solid, like the kind of wrenches I would expect to have from any good set. And I have actually tried to break the gears... but the handle is shorter than my other 3/8 drive wrenches... so I can't torque it as much. This will probably make it last longer, but limits usability. In general, I think this is a great set for backup or emergency tools. BUT... don't grab them with greasy fingers... the foam holds the sockets really tightly, and makes it pretty hard to actually pull them out to use them.

Good quality. Low profile.
Great set. I have used these while putting up a new chain link fence and some repairs on my vehicle. What I like most about them is their low profile. It means they fit well in tight spaces under the hood of my rig when doing repairs. They are well made and the case for them is nice - though a little tight fitting for all the parts. So occasionally I struggle to get the pieces out. I also wished the case had a handle of some kind. They are good quality for the money and I am glad I have them.

High Quality GearWrench Set, but Odd Design Choices and Overpriced
I own quite a few GearWrench tools, and in my experience their quality is usually well above average. This set is consistent with that reputation in terms of materials and overall build. The included case is very sturdy, well made, and can be hung on a wall, which I really like. Socket sizes are clearly marked both on the sockets themselves and on the case, making it easy to stay organized. The wrench operates smoothly and feels like a 72-tooth mechanism, even though I can’t personally confirm that. Including an extension and common driver bits is also a nice bonus and makes the set more versatile for general use. That said, there are some frustrating drawbacks. For a general-purpose set, skipping the 9mm socket feels like a strange omission. Even more noticeable is how shallow the sockets are — shallower than any I’ve used before. Combined with the very dense foam insert, this makes removing sockets surprisingly difficult. It’s genuinely frustrating to get them out, and I can’t even remove the wrench without first taking out the extension. Finally, at the current price, this set feels overpriced for what it offers. The quality is there, but the design choices and missing size hold it back from being a great value. Overall, this is a solid, well-built GearWrench set with some thoughtful features, but the shallow sockets, tight foam, missing 9mm, and high price keep it from being an easy recommendation.

Great Socket Set When You Need To Grab Some Tools And Go!
I already have a complete, large socket set set in my garage so, I really wasn't looking for another one. Then I thought to myself that sometimes you just need a compact set that you can keep handy and grab and go for those unexpected times you need a socket. So, while looking through Amazon this GearWrench set popped up. I've got a GearWrench ratcheting wrench set and I really like the quality and durability of them so I figured I would order this socket set. I was not disappointed with the set when it arrived. It was the typical high quality of other GearWrench products. I didn't realize it at the time I ordered it but it was a nice surprise when I saw that this set came with Torx and screwdriver bits. That just makes the set even more versatile. The sockets are 6 point shallow ones with their size clearly marked on the side. These are perfect for routine "wrench" work when you don't need a deep socket. I measured the inside dimension of a couple of sockets and they were consistent in size as other quality socket sets. Another nice feature of this set is the socket handle, it is nicely finished and comfortable in my hand. The reversing lever operated smoothly as did the ratcheting mechanism. Another feature I liked was the sockets snapped into place on the ratchet handle. To remove the socket from the ratchet handle you have to push the button on the back of the handle. The one thing I didn't like was how loose fitting the sockets were on the extension. It didn't affect anything but I thought it should have been tighter fitting. The socket set came in a plastic case with a hard foam liner. I liked that the foam liner held the sockets in place but to get a socket out you have to push your finger between the foam and the socket to pull it out. This is not really an issue until you have oil on your fingers, then everything gets slippery and dirty. All in all I am really happy with this set of sockets. It's nice to have around when you don't need a special tool and just want to tighten or loosen a nut.
