What types of coatings can the CTG measure?

The CTG measures the thickness of coatings on metal substrates, including clear coat, color paint, intermediate coats, electrophoretic coatings, and primer layers. It cannot measure coating thickness on non-metal substrates such as plastic or glass.

Can the CTG measure bare metal or coatings without metal underneath?

No. If there is no coating on the metal surface, the CTG can only identify the metal substrate and will not display a coating thickness value. If there is no metal substrate under the coating, it cannot measure the thickness.

How accurate and consistent are CTG measurements?

The CTG has an accuracy of ≤±(2%+1μm). This means a measured coating thickness may vary slightly within the stated tolerance. Small differences in repeated measurements at the same spot are normal and fall within the expected error range.

Does the device support data storage or export?

Yes. All CTG models can connect to a computer for measurement data viewing and export. CTG2 and CTG3 also support APP connection, making it easy to manage, analyze, and save inspection results digitally.

Is CTG suitable for thicker coatings or industrial applications?

Yes. CTG offers three models to match different needs: CTG1: up to 2000μm for automotive inspections; CTG2: up to 5000μm with APP support; CTG3: up to 9900μm with a 1-meter external probe, ideal for heavy coatings, pipelines, and structural steel.
