Makes my best friend smile again
My partner & best friend lost his beloved cat last year and misses her terribly. Due to illness and going blind, he feels he can’t take care of another cat any more plus he’s concerned what would happen to his pet when he passes. The holiday season is especially rough on him and I’ve been very concerned. This cat is my early Christmas gift for him and I hope it will help him cope. I told him why the early gift and gave it to him on Sunday. Now I wish I’d taken a picture of his delight! He laughed & smiled so bright 😊 I haven’t seen him this happy in a long time. The cat looks like his beloved MsKitty, a long haired tuxedo cat, and her fur feels soft. Meow & purr are louder, I assume for us hard of hearing, but sounds very sweet. She rolled over, interacted while we were talking, to his delight. Yes, there is a slight mechanical noise when she moves and her body is not as soft as a real cat, the pads in her paw feel somewhat firmer BUT it is the perfect companion for any cat lover who misses their fur baby and can’t take care of a real cat. I wish it would be rechargeable for easier handling. For anyone with a loved one missing their pet, this is a great gift of love and care. MsKitty sleeps on the other side of his bed and he can reach over, feel her purr, hear her meow and reminisce of times past but look forward to the future! He made a clip and sent it to his sister and she thought the cat was real! lol! I tried to post a copy but couldn’t, sorry. You can’t put a price tag on happiness and I sincerely hope MsKitty will be his companion for a long time, unlike some other reviewers reported. Well made, very protective packaging, I highly recommend this cat as it is a wonderful gift. Update 12/04/24 Was just able to add the short clip mentioned above. My friend calls her Cutie now and is so very happy, he even talks to her like we all do with our “living” pets. His family noticed him perking up a little and is a little happier. For as long as it lasts, money very well spent. It means the world to me to have him talk animated about Cutie, smile/joke and how his family members are stopping by to meet the addition to the family! lol Update 01/25/2026 Cutie is still in operation without any problems. Batteries lasting a long time! My partner handles his Cutie with care, like he would have his “real” cats. Personally I feel JOY FOR ALL created a high quality product but handling anything electronic with movable components with less care could cut down on condition/performance of the product.

So realistic that it brings tears to my eyes.
This cute little orange tabby was so realistic that I almost thought I had to return it. My mother is what they call a high functioning dementia patient. She loves this little cat, but we had to bring it home as she kept calling me and my siblings that someone needed to come pick up the cat as she was worried that she couldn’t feed or take care of it. After two days of constant calling and her anxiety, we brought it back to our house. I bought two of the same cats, one for my 93 year old mother, and one for my 99 year old mother in law. The mind moves in inexplicable ways, and my 99 year old mother in law thinks the cat looks real, but knows that it isn’t. While it broke my heart to pick up the little cat from my mother’s assisted living home, it is a testament to the realism of the cat. She named it, I bought a collar for it, and the little kitty( Momo) could have been a good companion. We bring both mothers to our house weekly and we will keep both here to entertain them and keep them company when visiting. It is so hard to try to keep them busy, but combing the little kitty is very soothing for them. I write this with tears in my eyes, as these little kittys are very realistic looking and relate to dementia patients in ways that truly seem real enough to provide comfort and provide a sense of home. I would give these little kittens 6 stars if I could. I know there is a person in this video but I hope it can come through.

Perfect Gift For All Occasions, Ages & Genders! Impressive & A Keeper!
The cat reminds me of an Antique Mechanical Automaton. It does basic cat movements, sounds and actions very well. The cat also sheds a little just like a real one. I was skeptical after readding some of the negative reviews. But realized they were not accurate after receiving my cat. What everyone needs to remember is that this a mechanical device not a stuffed toy. So you need to handle it with care. You can't just toss it around a room like a rag doll and expect it to work. You would not do that with a real cat so treat it as if it were. Also when changing the batteries do it carefully. I should not have to say this but people tend to be very heavy handed when changing batteries and then wonder why the item no longer works. I honestly believe if you use this cat as it was intended it will last years after seeing the cat I received. Also remember to switch the device off with the switch on the bottom when not in use. This way the batteries last longer and it also will prevent any battery leakage from always being active. Remember the normal price of this item is $124.99 so it is not cheap and should be treated as so. I really am impressed by this cat and the lite shedding is a plus cause cats do shed. Right now take advantage of Holiday Pricing from Amazon. Remember you have an extended return window for the Holidays so that is another plus. I also posted 5 photos of my cat. Bottom line is I have no regret with this purchase as well as being impressed by this cat I received. Happy Holidays!

Great, but needs improvement
First, this cat is a wonderful thing!! I bought it for a lady with dementia, and she LOVES it. I wish I could share the video, but due to confidentiality I cannot. It was incredibly wonderful though! She laughed, she smiled nonstop, and she was so happy! It is an awesome gift, and I love the features of the cat! The best part is that it isn't easy to predict, what it's going to do. Sometimes it meows on its own, like a real cat. Sometimes it will lick its paw, or roll over, or start purring. She adores it, and he's brought much happiness to her! I would highly recommend buying one for any person with dementia. Having said all of this, I do wish, extremely, that it was a bit more user friendly insofar as it "eating". The lady who got her is convinced that the cat is hungry when it meows (I can make it silent, but she loves it "talking" to her). I have tried extremely hard to convince her that it doesn't need to eat, but she only remembers it for a short while, then she tries again. It's SO hard, to keep her from trying to feed it, or give it water! I unfortunately think that she may have caused a short in it, from trying to give it water, and pour it down its throat. (I am not always able to monitor this, or stop her.) The eating aspect is very hard too! She waits until it meows, then stuffs food in its mouth. Because it can't close its mouth properly then, it makes an actual chewing motion, trying to close it. It's so hard, as I fear that it may break with her continuing to try this. I wish, very much, that the company would make one that could be fed! If it had a plastic mouth, impervious to moisture, and perhaps a little jar for a stomach, that could be emptied, that would be extremely wonderful! It's a person's nature to want to take care of their pets, and feeding is part of that! Please Joy For All, make a version that can be fed. I would gladly pay more for that feature!

Robo-kitty to the rescue! (Sense of humor required.)
Hold up, all you robo haters! Requirement number one for this product is a sense of humor. Requirement number two is to realize that this is NOT a real cat. Just get rid of that expectation from the get-go and you’ll be on the right page. Without those two mental adjustments you’ll just be constantly mad it this creature for not being real. I got it for my 85 year old mother, who longed for a s***-less, shed-less, stink-less pet, without food, cat litter, or vet expenses. Robo-kitty fits the bill. But why should old people have all the fun? I’ll happily inherit the thing some day and keep in on my sofa. That’s where it lived during its three day trial period in which I was checking out its functionality. I actually started talking to the thing, and getting attached to it. Mom thinks it’s a hoot. She’s given it a name and will no longer let me call it Robo-kitty. She’s had it a month now, without ever turning it off, and its batteries are still going strong. The on/off switch is hard to locate, even for me, and having diminished feeling in her fingertips, Mom finds it impossible. But Robo-kitty seems to default to sleep mode when you leave the room, so no need. It must have a motion sensor in it somewhere, because it will issue a mini-miaow when you return, accompanied by a piteous sigh that calls out for petting. The miaowing and purring sound very authentic — and though I’ve never heard a real cat sigh, I think it only adds to the charm. (ok, there is ONE miaow that sounds a little too close to a human voice, but one's brain soon accommodates.) As for the ticking sounds and little jerking motions that accompany some of its movements -- that’s where you remember that it’s not a real cat. But you get used to it and tune it out. (It actually sounds exactly like a savage ticking sound my late cat used to make when it was trying to catch an insect). It sure beats that puking sound a real cat makes as it’s creating another urgent mess for you to clean up! I mean really, which would you rather deal with? I disagree with the commenter that said it’s like petting a furry brick. Not! It’s very well padded. Of course with all that machinery, its body is going to be more rigid that a real cat’s. But the fur is nice and soft. Not luxuriously soft like one of those Jellycat toys, but also not cheap and chalky feeling like some low-quality stuffed animals. I wouldn’t mistake it for actual fur, but my mother finds petting it very pleasurable. I bought her a little cat brush and it’s great fun to brush it — plus you never have to clean out the brush! Its little mouth is SO realistic, and the way it opens and closes sincks up with the miaowing exactly. And the eyes are fantastic! You swear it’s looking right at you, and the eyes close and squint and everything in between — very realistic! At my mother’s home it lives permanently in the spot right next to where she likes to sit on the sofa — just where you’d want your real cat to hang out (but of course the obstinate thing wouldn’t cooperate). The only other place I’ve seen her put it is in her lap. I held it in my lap for a while and my lap actually grew warm in the same way as with a real cat. Even the weight of it is authentic. As for the price, it’s well worth it — think of the money you’ll save on cat supplies and services and other needs! No shots required! It’ll pay for itself in the first two months! I fear the humane society’s adoption program might be in serious trouble if news of this alternative gets around. (Sorry, kitties. You need more birth control.)

And almost real, comforting friend
Who would have thought I'd be in a nursing home as young as I am! I had to have my two best friends, my kids rehomed. This tore me apart! In order to help me cope with my grief,I decided to search for a toy cat that would purr for more than 10 or 15 seconds. that's when I found this one Joy For All. I was impressed with him from the moment I turned him on. The Joy For All does per for long periods of time. I love hugging him in my arms or falling asleep with him resting against me. I told myself I was going to always remember that he's a toy, so I tried not to get too attached to him, but how can you resist with a toy like this. I simply named him Catt, but that proved to be a perfect name! The interactive way he blinks his eyes, moves his head and ears, and turns himself overk! If I could change one thing about this Joy For All, it would be that the meow does not sound at all real. It sounds like a poor imitation of a meow by a human. I don't know why that designers didn't find a way to use a real meow, but that is the one thing I would change. Admittedly,Cat was a little expensive, even on sale, but for a situation like mine, I believe he was truly worth it.

Mom with dementia loves her cat!
My mom has dementia and lives in a memory care assisted living. We gave her the cat for Christmas. When she opened the box and saw the cat, her face lit up. Then when I turned it on and it moved, she really lit up. It's eight months later and she still loves her cat. We're not sure, but we think she thinks its real. She keeps it on her chair in her room and every time she goes in there and turns on the light, the cat meows, which is a pleasant greeting for her. It purrs and meows delightfully as you pet it. The facial and ear movements are really lifelike and it raises it's paw as to wash it's face. The facial and ear movements do make some mechanical noise, but they're not that loud and don't detract from it. The one thing that I could do without is that occasionally the front half twists and rolls back, then after a few minutes it comes back up. That's when you hear the loud motor really kick in and I find it to be an unnatural movement. I was concerned before a bought it that it would be a bit creepy, but it's turned out to be a great purchase for my mom. She pets it, talks to it, and is protective over it. She even worries when she's out of her room too much that it will get lonely. I was there one day when her doctor came into the room, he looked at the cat on the chair and smiled, then it started to meow, and move, and his eyes opened wide and he said "OMG, I've never seen anything like that, I think it's great!" I left but my mother said he came back after his rounds and checked it out some more. Overall, a great gift for an elderly person with dementia. .

Five stars for concept, 1 star for reliability.
I bought my first orange tabby cat on November 18. It was a huge hit with my 89 year old father-in-law — he has dementia, and in recent months has been pulling further into his figurative shell. He LOVES the cat. He believes it is real, talks to it, laughs with it, pets it, interacts with it. His mood has improved dramatically, and he is more alert. This cat is a FIVE STAR concept and a FIVE STAR addition to the lives of older people (& their caregivers). However, the product is ONE STAR in terms of reliability. My FIL loved it so much he broke it. We think he held the head too tightly, and ultimately the servos broke. The cat still meows and purrs, but it no longer rolls onto its back and the eyes no longer open. The heartbreaking thing is now my FIL asks the kitty why she isn't opening her eyes. Dear Hasbro Product Managers: keep it simpler. The cat doesn't need to roll onto its back for a tummy rub. The meowing, purring, and eyes/mouth movements probably solve 90% of the "real" factor, and are less prone to breaking. As a side comment, I now face a very real problem: my FIL loves this cat. There is no vet I can take it to. Instead, I've bought a replacement cat. Yes, you read that right, I've bought 2 $100 robo-cats in less than one month because this kitty is bringing very real joy to my FIL, and some much needed relief to his round-the-clock caregivers. The value per hour is astronomical, and this cat pays for itself many times over. That said, Hasbro would be wise to figure out how they're going to handle replacements/repairs/breakage. At any rate, I look forward to further improvements in this product line. And hopefully I won't have to buy a baker's dozen before we get there...
