We have tried a similar device for hanging laundry from a door to replace some older fold-up, wooden wash-drying racks. The only problem is drying devices like this one can accommodate a smaller number of items than the old, large and clunky drying racks. But the convenience of a flip-down device for hanging shirts or slacks on hangers means less clutter from a couple of the old-style racks. By adding more flip-down, over-the-door racks we can accommodate as much as the older racks held without cluttering up floor space. This one is pretty nice. Made from aluminum and finished in a matte, multi-layer coat of paint, I was at first concerned there was not some kind of stick-on cushioning to protect the door. But the fit and finish turned out to be more than adequate at protecting the oak doors. The surface is smooth and feels softer than an unpainted metal dryer does that came with stick-on cushions. There is an adjustable "stand-off" that allows the device to be positioned parallel to the door's vertical surface to insure stability. These are fantastic because they are always at the ready but very unobtrusive in their folded-up storage position. You just reach up and pull the arm down, pull out the extension if needed, and the notches hold the hangers apart for optimum drying. And drying clothes naturally extends their useful life because the tumbling in a heated dryer prematurely wears the fabric -- all that lint you collect is removed from the clothing, but hanging clothes to dry naturally does not damage the fibers to create lint.

I love the features of these over-the-door hangers. They are versatile for when you have a small amount of stuff to hang or a large amount of stuff to hang. My only complaint is that the pre-bent part that goes over the door is bent way too wide for all the doors I've tried it on. It still works, but if you open the door quickly it tends to slide along the door or sometimes even slide right off. To fix this I ended up hammering it to bend it along the dimensions of my actual doors. once I did this the sliding issue stopped and it has an even stronger attachment point for those heavy loads.

If you need a little extra hanging space, or want to hang some things off a bathroom door, these are handy. They go up quick, you can leave them in a vanity and only put them up when needed. I hang my work clothes on them so I don’t bother my wife clattering around in the closet.
