Dissolves Stubborn Mineral Deposits Safely (Coating & Clear Coat Safe)
Living in a hard water area means water spots are an absolute nightmare, especially on darker paintwork. After trying various detailing sprays that did nothing, I picked up Gtechniq W9 to tackle some stubborn mineral spots on the bonnet and glass, and it performed brilliantly. The Breakdown: • Pros: The biggest selling point is that it is chemically formulated to dissolve the calcium and magnesium deposits without using harsh abrasives. This means it won't scratch your clear coat or strip away high-end ceramic coatings or sealants if used correctly. It works incredibly fast on glass and gloss trim, leaving a perfectly clean surface behind. • Cons: It is important to manage expectations—this is a chemical remover for mineral deposits, not a magic fix for physical defects. If the water spots have been baked in the sun for months and have actually etched deeply into your clear coat, W9 won't fix that; you’ll need a machine polish. It’s also a premium-priced detailing product, but you don't need to use a massive amount per panel. Performance & Real-World Use: Application requires a bit of care. You must work out of direct sunlight on a panel that is completely cool to the touch. I sprayed it directly onto the affected areas, let it dwell for about 2 minutes to let the chemistry do the heavy lifting, and then wiped it away with a damp microfiber towel before rinsing thoroughly. It effortlessly shifted the unsightly white rings around the window trim and rear decklid that regular washing couldn't touch. Final Verdict: An essential bottle to have in your detailing kit if you take pride in your car's finish. It saves a massive amount of time compared to polishing and protects your existing wax or ceramic layers. Just catch the spots early before they cause permanent etching, and this bottle will keep your paint looking flawless.

Didn't work for me
Sadly this product did not get rid of the rain water spots on my car paintwork and made no difference at all.

Works — but needs elbow grease
Trying to be clever and washing both family cars at once seemed like a good idea at the time. Any married bloke will probably know why I attempted this and during the winter I'd likely had got away with it... But anyway, my car started drying before I could get to it, and the bonnet ended up covered in water spots that flatly refused to budge no matter what I threw at them. Enter the Gtechniq W9 Water Spot Remover. I've trusted the brand before, and at £16 for 500ml it's not cheap — but I figured if it did the job, I'd happily pay double. Spoiler: it did the job. Just don't expect a spray-on, wipe-off miracle. This took me a solid 30 minutes, a thick microfibre towel soaked in the stuff, and repeated buffing of each affected area before the spots finally surrendered. My arm was aching by the end. Worth noting that roughly a week had passed since the spots appeared, and the car had been sitting in full sun, so your mileage may vary depending on how fresh the damage is. I've included a video — it's a bit rough and ready (turns out buffing and filming simultaneously is harder than it sounds), but it shows the product working in real time. End result: bonnet looking as it should, lesson thoroughly learned, and next time the wife's car can wait its turn.

Quick results, easy to use
I got recomended this from a colleague at work for removing pesky water marks that appear after I clean my car. The water gets trapped in awkward places and ends up leaving water marks on the freshly cleaned car. This stuff makes it effortless to remove the water spots, leaving the fresh, clean paintwork on show, rather than a streaky mess! It sprays well and covers a nice area, meaning you don't have to use loads of it to remove water stains. You simply apply it, wipe it down, then go over the area with a clean microfibre cloth and the jobs done.

Makes spots vanish as if it wasn't even there!
Worked amazingly well. Cleared off the several weeks old water streak running down my side mirror on my red Mazda

love it
Works well for me. I highly suggest to spray this onto a damp microfiber applicator and then rub it onto the surface. Especially on glass. Spraying directly onto a spot on a panel kind of concentrates it where it lands unless you have a quick hand to wipe it in. Great water spot remover for the price.

Fit for purpose, not cost effective
Great product but pricy

It worked! Water spots gone.
Had mixed feelings about ordering this to remove the water spots on my black pickup truck. I hadn’t realized that water spots were common after putting on a ceramic coat. But before spending hundreds of dollars more having it professionally detaiyto remove the spots I figured I’d give it a try. I first washed my car and towel dried it, leaving the surface slightly wet. I then applied the product and rubbed it in a bit (helped quickly) and finally buffed it out by hand with a thick microfiber towel. Came out beautiful. Lastly, I washed the truck again with chemical guys ceramic foam soap for ceramic coats and then thoroughly dried the truck. My truck looked like it was as fresh as when I initially had it ceramic coated. Needless to say I’m pleased with the product :)

Strong smell of vinegar
Smells like straight vinegar....it works on light water spots, but i doubt it'll work on them multi layered waterspots.

Best for light spotting.
I love this product between washes to keep my paint spot-free. It’s only meant for removal of LIGHT water spotting BEFORE it etches into your vehicles paint. Anything that’s too deep will require polishing/compounding. Don’t listen to reviews from those who say it doesn’t work - they believe the product is magical and can remove all spotting which just isn’t true.
