Q: By what mechanism does this relieve my TMJ jaw pain?

This device is used for lower body. If you need to release tension in your jaw due to TMJ I recommend looking at different exercises and I think reiki may have a specific thing to do via pressure points. A slant board won't aid in TMJ and I'm not sure who told you that, however they are 100% incorrect

The Boards4Health Multi-Slant Pro does not split for a single foot. Both feet will be at the same angle at the same time.

Q: Does this board have a weight limit for how big a person can be and still be able to use it without breaking?

There would have to be a weight limit associated with the product (from the standpoint of physics, alone). I looked into it -- and from what I found (from a listing on one medical equipment supplier site (others I found didn't list the weight capacity, and it seems surprisingly difficult to contact the manufacturer)), there is a 250-lb weight limit.
