Excellent resource
I bought this book specially because I wanted to try knitting in the round and knitting with a "magic" loop on circular needs.1. This book has excellent sized pictures are well as well written instructions. A few pictures are not a clear as I would like, but otherwise 90%+ are good.2. It describes in detail various methods of cast-on and cast-off and which ones are appropriate for a specific project.3. It is a tutorial on various techniques. The techniques featured go from simple to more difficult - something for everyone. It builds skills.4. Contains excellent notes on correcting mistakes and common problems with knitting in the round.5. It has some nice patterns for scarves, hats, shawls, mittens and a bag. Not a large selection, but has enough tips and advice to give me confidence. Each project has complete informaton about the yarn, yarn amount, gauge, needle size, etc. It also has featured techniques.6. Gives advice on types of needles but not which brands to buy.7. Layout is excellent and has plenty of pages to justify buying the book.8. Type style is large enough for those of us who need it. Most of the print is on white background and the type set on the colored pages is in white, so that it can be seen.

One of the BEST books for Basic Sock Knitting
I give this book 5 stars because the chapter about knitting simple socks is the best I understand. This chapter take you from crawling to walking in knitting socks and give you a good foundation in knitting more complex socks. What I like about this book is that it1. teach you how to knit a tube2. how to knit a sock using different knitting needles (dpn, two circular needles, and more)3. How to knit an afterthought heel Sock and a forethought heel. Also, I want to say that I would have like to seen the Spiral Knitting Sock in Mary Thomas Book . . .this is just a tube sock if you do not like knitting a heel.4. Well written instructions in the "Anatomy of a Sock."I would like to see this author make a sock knitting book starting with a simple tube then Spiral Sock, afterthought heel, and forethought heel with band socks and to more difficult sock methods. Also, I would like to see how to knit a sock with two knitting needles. Thanks Margaret for the sock sections of this books! "Everybody can Knit a Sock" a sock method for all levels . . . .Penandink

One of the BEST books on the Whys and How-To’s of Circular Knitting
After knitting on straight needles for 15 years, I took a course on circular knitting. I now have knit on circular needles almost exclusively for the last 40 years, even for flat work like scarves or shawls. But short circulars like 8” or 9” are great for socks, mitts, gloves, hats, cowls, sweaters. Yes, you will need double-pointed needles for certain things like fingers on gloves, etc. But learning to knit on circulars for in-the-round projects is a game changer. This book explains not only the ‘how to’ but also the ‘why’. I still use lots of stitch markers for patterns, row counting in multiple row patterns, and row counting. But that might be just be me. I especially love not having needles slip out of the row as they are prone to do with straight needles. This book is one of the best I’ve used to get me from beginner to each ‘next step’ in my knitting game! Circulars make knitting even more of a joy because I’m not constantly searching for the mate to my straight pairs. This book is easy to read and understand, and clearly illustrated, too, always a plus!

Good starting point for circular knitting
I like this book because I prefer knitting in the round and this book allows me to create my own patterns and offers a multitude of techniques. The section on binding off is particularly good because it is easy to bind off off to tightly when working in the round and this can ruin your project (or at least make you miserable while you pick out your bind off to redo). I liked the section on how to solve the problem with "jogs", a typical knitting in the round issue when you end one round and begin the next. There are a wide variety of projects including hats and gloves. Also, she covers both bottom up and top down techniques. My only complaint is that the samples used to demonstrate the techniques are very small, doll sized sweaters. I understand that these are designed to be samplers for the techniques but I am very unmotivated in using my expensive, beautiful yarn to create a sampler. I would rather take on a regular sized sweater and have something to wear when I finish.

Awesome Tips and Tri knitting
This is a wonderful reference book with different variations of how to begin with cast-ons, bind offs. ,helix knitting with practice patterns. I ordered for my mother’s birthday and one for myself, we both love this book. Mom has been knitting for years and her comment to me was “ I can still learn new ways of knitting with this book. She made the helix striped hat and said “Jim was wearing it when he got up this morning because he really likes it.” The book has wonderful photo illustrations on how to knit step by step fingers and thumbs on gloves and mittens, along with how to use two needles at a time, magic loop, double points and knitting on circular needles. You will learn how to knit socks. The book is loaded with a ton of helpful information. Great purchase for anyone interested in knitting and wants to learn new skills.

Great resource for all styles of circular knitting
This is a fantastic resource for circular knitting. I first borrowed it from my library before quickly realizing that I needed a copy of my own. As of right now I own the Kindle version (got it during a sale) so I can view it on my iPad or computer, but I hope to afford a print copy in the near futureWhat makes this book great? It's very comprehensive and great for all knitters. There are many different ways to do circular knitting; I prefer DPNs and circulars. This book not only covers those two methods but also teaches magic loop and the 2 circulars method as well. What's even better is that this book really makes accommodations in explaining each style. It really helps knitters figure out which style may work best for them instead of imposing or favoring one method over another. Another thing I appreciate is how it teaches both up-down and bottom-up construction. This is just a fabulous resource to have and I highly recommend it

Excellent introduction to circular knitting
Very thorough guidance provided on getting started with circular knitting. The projects have clear instructions and good quality graphics. I anticipate that I will continue to use this for reference once I'm more familiar with the basic techniques.
