Divorce For Dummies

I love the "For Dummies" series of books, so when I realized I was going to be getting a divorce, of course they were the first company I looked for. They did not disappoint. This book is full of great information that deals with the realism of getting divorced; the costs, both emotional and financially, and has a goal of getting you to a divorce that is least draining to all. It has a ton of resources for mediation, lawyers, and tries really hard to have you and your soon to be ex work things out as much on your own as possible before going to lawyers to reduce costs overall. I recommend this book to anyone considering going through a divorce.

Very informative and straight forward. I also really liked that the authors focused on keeping things civil and working things out in the cleanest possible way. It's very refreshing. My philosophy with dealing with my divorce has been "We started this together, we can end it together." There is no rule anywhere that says a divorce has to be nasty, so why make it that way if it doesn't have to be?

Good Tips, very General but still a good reference. I would suggest to a friend going through or thinking about going through a Divorce.

I don't believe in not being prepared for anything out of the ordinary. Therefore like I wrote in the review of Prenups for lovers, marriage takes work by two people and should not be taken for granted by gold digging or materialism. If compatibility is an issue then divorce is a necessity. If there is no spontaneity anymore or romance then this is a good book to contemplate your options. If there is only one person willing to change in the relationship then this is the book for you. It takes two people to form a bond and one person cannot do all the work. There has to be responsibility of both partners. Both people have to change if a marriage is to succeed. Only read this if you have given up!!!

if you're going through the process or will go through it, buy this book. I have 4 other books on the same topic, but this one really summarizes and captures well similar concepts as in all the books, but succinctly and clearly in its presentation.

If you unfortunately have to go through a divorce this book helps by showing you in plain language many available options you probably weren't aware of. It also has lists of websites to view for further info and specific info to your area of residence.

I got this book hoping it would help me fill out the divorce papers. Literally all this book tells you is what divorce is and options one can try before getting a divorce.

I bought this book to get insight into the legal process of divorce but was disappointed. It spent a lot of time on life adjustments during and after leaving the marriage, but I didn't really need that, I used friends family and counselors for that. Overall, this book wasn't worth the investment.

A must for married couples, the earliest you prepare for this event the better.

Very useful guide which I found very helpful in gaining my freedom from one crazy woman.
