CWKJ 400GPH Submersible Fountain Water Pump for Pond Aquarium Hydroponics

Needed to replace a worn out pump that lasted over 10 years. This pump is definitely great quality and reasonably priced. Problem: The water flow is designed for larger fountains. I got it to work with my small basin. I drilled two holes in tubing so that some of the water flow is dispersed right back into the water and the flow from my spitting owl is perfect. Prior to modification the owl spit the water out of the basin. Like other reviews mention the controller to reduce water flow does not work very good.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this pump earned it. I bought the CWKJ 400GPH fountain pump for a small backyard water feature I was building from scratch. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but this little workhorse blew me away. Setup was simple—plug-and-play right out of the box. It comes with a few different nozzles, which was great for getting just the right water effect I wanted. The suction cups hold tight, even in a deep ceramic bowl, and the pump stays perfectly in place without vibrating or shifting. What stood out most was how quiet it is. Once submerged, it’s virtually silent. You hear the water flowing, not the pump working—exactly how it should be. I’ve run it daily for several hours at a time, and it hasn’t overheated, clogged, or lost power. The flow rate adjustment knob is a nice touch. I turned it down slightly to keep the water from splashing outside the basin, and it responded instantly. The included power cord is long enough to reach a nearby outlet without using an extension. Only thing to be aware of: if you’re using tubing or trying to lift water up more than 5–6 feet, you’ll start to lose pressure. But for low-to-mid fountains, aquariums, hydroponics, or garden features, it’s perfect. After a few weeks of use, no signs of wear. I clean the intake once a week just to keep debris out, but other than that, this pump requires almost no maintenance. Bottom line: It’s powerful, quiet, affordable, and does exactly what it promises. If I ever build another fountain or need a second unit, I’ll be buying this same one again. Highly recommend.

Everything went perfectly from purchase (price) to delivery (same day) to install (seamless)!! Plugged it in at the lowest output setting and was way surprised. I thought the 440 would be ok at the lowest pump setting, but looks like I need to go with a smaller per gallon output. WHOOPS!!! Might keep it for my aquarium, but I’m probably purchasing a smaller pump for my fountain. Quiet as advertised (the water splashing on my pavers was pretty loud tho), suction was amazing (I had to refill the “pool” a couple times while trying to adjust tubes and whatnot to try to prevent burning the motor), and price was best out there for top reviews (Amazon top seller). I’d recommend this pump, for sure. But 20” of lift using 3/4-1/2” tubing made this too strong of a current for my needs. If I make amendments to the fountain and am able to use this pump, I will update!!

My pump went out in my fountain. I had paid a lot for it at lowes a few years back. This one came in quickly. I put it on my fountain today. It works better than the expensive one I had. I am super pleased with my purchase!

I've had this for a year now. My backyard floods when it rains heavy and I have a French drain that doesn't seem to drain out anywhere? Anyway, I stick this down in the reservoir and it does the job. I have left it on overnight a handful of times and woken up in the morning to it pumping air. Can't be good for it but the thing is still working. I put it in a drawstring mesh bag to filter out debris but it just sits in the open bag so some debris gets in--hasn't been a problem. I wish it were automatic. and it isn't great for shallow water. If it isn't fully submersed (or at least mostly) it sounds concerning, like it does when it's dry pumping air. But maybe that's okay? I'm not sure. I initially had trouble keeping the hose attached to the pump. I'd have to set the hose down in place and be careful not to disturb it. But then I put one of those rubber O's that goes inside the head of a hose around the nozzle of the pump and now I can pick the whole unit up by the hose. I maybe should have known this, but hey... If the flow is weak/slow, check that the adjustable intake thingy is turned fully open. At less than $20, I have no regrets. I have however purchased an automatic one that I hope can be used in shallower areas.

I've bought 5 of these over the last couple of years and they all stop working sooner or later. The last two I bought 6 weeks ago (just beyond the warranty period). One started making a loud humming noise. The other one runs but doesn't pump any water. My water isn't the cleanest so that may be part of the problem, but other brands (Beckett in particular) have run for many years without problems in the same water...

This is exactly what I was hoping for! It has made my patio SO relaxing! The pump is quiet and pumps exactly the right amount of water for the pots I used. I can’t hear the pump running over the water flowing at all! I used a piece of pipe and a fitting or two from the plumbing department. (Take the pump in to find the right fittings) Very happy with this purchase.

Package was retaped, all of the fittings were NOT in the package. I did not need them & the pump is operating as expected. The cord was not tied as if the package had been returned and repackaged. This is not a complaint . Just a response

Super pour ma fontaine de jardin ....pas de bruit ...elle fonctionne très bien

Worked well for two summers but now water is barely coming out one inch up from the pump and it makes a rattle noise. I opened it to clean it just in case but it did not help.

been over a year and works great still... no complaints..

Is adjustable for more or less water flow. That running water sound never gets old. Very happy !!!
