natura Cottage Dog House, Small

This dog house is very easy to put together. I have 2 medium sized dogs who both fit inside the Large. The quality is pretty good, it’s not a heavy duty dog house but it serves its purpose.

I bought this for my indoor and outdoor cats and they never used it. But all the other outside animals have used it. We have had possums in there and even a raccoon at one point. Now it's a home for one of the cats in the neighborhood that has now made its way to our porch. So all and all it's a great house. I also bought a self heating pad to go with it..

Our dog loves her new house. She has been using it a lot since putting it together. The XL was a perfect fit for her (Saint Bernard), with some wiggle room. The look of the house is lovely, and the pine wood and roof material appear/feel to be of good quality. However, some wood pieces arrived with splitting damage. My bf had to use an adhesive to fix it. Upon putting pieces together, some cracks formed and he again had to fix it with adhesive. We wish the wood could have been denser to have perhaps avoided the damages, but after putting everything together, the house does feel sturdy enough and we’ve had no more issues with the wood. We’re hoping the house will hold up over time.

I actually got this to use up against my doggie door-but as you can see I had to cut out an entrance from the doggie door side. I used a jigsaw for the first time , so the hole isn't pretty but functional! I had another Trixie house for a long time, but the roof was at a slant and not like the one here as an "A" frame , and the roof leaked after awhile. Hoping since this is an "A" frame that it will work better and not leak. The house itself was easy to assemble-I am 77 and the roof was a little challenging but was able to maneuver okay-was able to see the holes to put the screws through to attach to house on top. Floor also sets in nicely. It is small but just fine for my small Dachshund to exit through to the outside. There were a few imperfections on some of the boards but purchased this as "like new" and they didn't affect the functionality of the house. I had re-stained my other Trixie house so had some stain left and will spruce this one up a bit-doesn't really need it yet, but thought I would do it before winter sets it. All in all I would recommend this for a small dog or some cats. You will need to purchase though a flap for the entrance-which I already had.

I purchased two of these through Amazon.com knowing they would be shipped from Petco. I thought I could trust the Petco name. They both arrived broken; one worse than the other. The lesser broken one I was able to salvage and put together with some additional glue (not normally required). The other was in bad shape. I pulled out only two parts and the top ridge was shredded into little pieces and the front was split in half. After pulling out the bottom half of the front, I decided it wasn’t worth pulling the rest of the pieces out because I was afraid I would never get it boxed back up. I ordered them on 21 December 2012; according to the paperwork, they shipped on 28 December 2012. I received them on Thursday, 10 January 2013. I attempted to assemble them on Saturday, 12 January 2013 (the first opportunity I had to assemble them). I called customer service on a Saturday (12 January 2013). I was told that they would set up a pick up date for the following Tuesday and would ship out a replacement after I took photos of some of the broken parts. By Wednesday night nothing had been picked up. I called again that Wednesday evening (16 January 2013). I was then told that the manufacture was still deciding whether to ship replacement parts or a new unit … news to me; I requested a call back on Friday with a status of their decision. No call so I called Monday (21 January 2013), a week after the first phone call. I at that point decided I wanted a refund. Customer service scheduled a pick up for Friday (25 January 2013). I call this morning to verify that the pickup was still scheduled and to explain where the box is located (under the front porch due to a snow storm). I was then told that no pick up was scheduled and the customer representative would look into it and call me back within 24 – 48 hours. I like the look, the materials and the design for easy assembly of the dog house but I would never order another one, especially from Petco.

It's concerning that the wood isn't adequately protected, which can affect the longevity of the product. Ease of Assembly ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5): One area where the TRIXIE Natura Cottage Dog House excels is in the assembly process. It was relatively easy to put together, and the included instructions were clear and user-friendly. I had it set up in no time, which is a positive aspect of this product. Practicality ⭐⭐ (2/5): Despite its aesthetic appeal, the TRIXIE Natura Cottage Dog House has not proven practical for my dog. My pet has not used it as a shelter, likely due to the unfinished wood and an apparent lack of warmth and comfort. The absence of any interior insulation, along with a door flap that doesn't seal effectively, makes it unsuitable for colder weather or protection from drafts. In summary, the TRIXIE Natura Cottage Dog House shines in terms of aesthetics and ease of assembly. However, it falls short in the crucial aspect of practicality, as the unfinished wood and lack of insulation have deterred my dog from using it as intended. If you prioritize style over functionality and plan to use it in a mild climate, this dog house might work for you. However, if your main goal is providing a comfortable and secure shelter for your dog, you might want to consider other options that prioritize both aesthetics and practicality.

This is a first class product. I wish I could say something negative but I can't. Beautiful. workmanship, packaging, finish, ease of assembly. They even sent an extra screw, nut and bolt in case you where dumb enough, like me, to loose one. This is workmanship at it's finest and bargain priced. Don't hesitate to buy.

We purchased 4 of these dog houses in 2 sizes, and all have stood up well on the porches and in the yard after several years' use. We did place the "yard" houses on patio stones, so they're not set right onto the dirt. I don't think the legs would last long if in constant contact with dirt and moisture. Our heeler dogs (45-50 lbs) prefer the small houses in winter (more snug with their blankets to wallow around on) and the large houses in warm weather, or not in a house at all. I've recommended and shown these dog houses to several pet-owning friends, and I'd buy them again. Good dog houses.

Das Material ist sicherlich teilweise recht dünn, aber wertig und passgenau, der Aufbau ist kinderleicht und in einer knappen halben Stunde erledigt. Wie in einer Rezension schon beschrieben, sind mehr Schrauben als nötig dabei, sehr lobenswert! Durch die verstellbaren Füße kann man die Hütte jedem Untergrund anpassen ' sehr gut! Schade, dass das nicht in der Produktbeschreibung aufgeführt ist, würde die Hütte sicherlich wertvoller bzw. für manchen Käufer interessanter machen'. Der Boden besteht aus zwei recht passgenauen Teilen und wird nur eingelegt, könnte aber auch verschraubt werden. Für eine Reinigung ist aber ein leicht herausnehmbarer Boden sicherlich besser. Da das Holz sehr leicht ist, sollte man die Hütte allerdings windgeschützt aufstellen oder sicher befestigen ' ein etwas stärkerer Sturm könnte die 'unbewohnte' Hütte m.E. leicht mitnehmen. Aber für diesen Preis kann man sicher kein Eichenholz erwarten' :-) Bevor das vierbeinige Familienmitglied einzieht, sollte man die Hütte einige Zeit auslüften lassen, sie riecht bei Lieferung noch stark nach Lasur. Nach jetzt drei Tagen im Freien allerdings bemerke ich kaum noch Geruch. Ich habe diese Hundehütte Größe S als Pumpenhaus für unsere Gartenpumpe "zweckentfremdet", und auch dafür ist sie perfekt. Ein paar kleine Umbauten '- eine Dachhälfte klappbar machen, Fangband und Stütze einbauen -' fertig! Als Hütte für einen kleinen Hund ist der Platz der Größe S ausreichend, aber unser kleiner Havaneser zeigte kaum Interesse daran. Zum Glück, sonst hätte ich noch eine zweite Hütte bestellen müssen... ;-) Ich denke, ich kann ohne schlechtes Gewissen 5 Sterne vergeben. Die Hütte steht stabil, nichts wackelt oder klappert!
