The gain from this pedal sounds like a buzz-saw at moments.. in others (mid gain) an overdriven tube amplifier that still retains definition (ala pride and joy) and when the mids are tweaked just right, you get the ska / soul / punk vibe that not too many distortion pedals are capable of! The pedals main forte is metal, obviously! But the pre and post gain stages offer variability that does not put this FX pedal in a single category. It easily achieves the edge you expect from a metal, high-gain distortion pedal, but also has a more delicate and brittle sound that can be dialed back (with mid, high and pre-gain tamed).
