Banglijian Ziv-206 Hearing Aid for Seniors Moderate to Severe Loss(1 Unit)

I used the Banglijian 201a unit for 3 years. It helped, but I had some feedback, and could not use higher volume levels due to increased feedback. It failed after 3 years. With advice from the Banglijian company, I switched to this 206 model. Wow, what a difference! I can hear! Sound quality is much, much better, I can understand my husband and not ask him to repeat. The controls are simple - separate buttons for on/off, and volume. It charges in about 2 hours, and lasts all day. I wore a brimmed hat yesterday, first time in 3 years. No feedback! No squealing when I comb my hair, or lean in near anything like a cabinet or door or the refrigerator. I can increase the volume, with no feedback. This is amazing. I wish I had purchased this one years ago. I can hear again! The advantages of this model, and this company, are outstanding. The amplifiers are affordable, and high quality. Units are rechargeable, and last for years. The company is quick to respond to questions and offer help. I would recommend them to anyone with hearing problems, before trying high priced, prescription hearing aids. Update: went to a busy restaurant yesterday, so I tried the noisy background mode (click twice on/off button). It did seem to filter out or block some of the noise, at least I could mostly hear my husband. I also had no feedback issues while wearing the seatbelt in the car, a problem I used to have with the 201a model. I very happy with this 206 model.

I have worn Starkey CIC hearing aids in both ears for about 20 years. I decided it would be nice to have hearing aids as a back up since my current CICs are 4 years old. If they go out or I lose one, I will not be able to function as normal. After reading the reviews for Banglijian Hearing Amplifiers I ordered the ZIv-201 to try it out. It worked well to amplify the sound so I decided to order one for my other ear so I could give them a fair try. After reading reviews further, I realized the Ziv 206 would be better for me as it had more options. Kaven was easy to work with. He said he would send the 206 to try and if I liked it better than the 201, I could send the 201 back and he would send me a second 206 at no extra charge above the price of the 201 I had already purchased. After receiving the 206, I tried using the aids in both ears. They did amplify sounds so that I could hear the sound easily, but when it came to trying to have conversations, it was difficult to get clear sound - the person sitting next to me would come across as too loud, while the people across the table would be too soft. Speech sounded somewhat "garbled". If I was not looking at the television, I could not understand the speech, wearing two. When I put my Starkeys in see how well I could understand the speech on television without looking at the screen, it was apparent that my Starkeys gave me clearer hearing. I wore the Banglijians long enough to tell that neither the 201 or 206 will replace my Starkey CICs which are programmed for my hearing loss which is in the middle frequencies where most speech occurs. I ended up keeping the 206 because it is a backup and I could manage with it if something happens to my regular aids, but for me, wearing the two Banglijians at the same time, did not help me. I appreciate the good customer service and willingness to let me try these. I think they could be a good option for some people. I was able to ship the 201 back with a pre-paid label that Kaven sent me as an attachment. I have tracked my package and it was delivered to Chino, CA. I am currently waiting for my refund to my account.

Instructions need a bit of revising - I have posted some below just to help with what I think is a good hearing device. FIRST read the furnished instructions, get familiar with the buttons, then read below to get some practical advice: BUTTON FUNCTION Button #2 has two functions: on/off AND selecting one of three Background Noise Mode programs. 1. To turn unit on: press #2 for over 3 seconds. The light flashes green then goes off. 2. To turn unit off: press #2 for over 3 seconds. The light flashes blue then goes off. 3. To change the background Noise Mode programs: use a SHORT press of #2. Listen for beeps after each time you press the button. a. Low Noise Mode: press once SHORT, listen for 1 beep. b. Medium Noise Mode: press again SHORT, listen for 2 beeps c. High Noise Mode, press again SHORT, listen for 3 beeps To return to low noise mode press once – hear 1 beep. Changing Volume: use a SHORT press of # 3 (higher) or #4 (lower). Highest volume is identified by 3 beeps, lowest also by 3 beeps. There are four levels and beeps between High and Low. Each beep has the same loudness. 3 beeps (Low)– 1beep– 1beep-1beep-1beep - 3 beeps (high). If you have not reached a desired volume after going through all the six levels, try by a SHORT press or two of #2 to change to a different Noise Mode. ** If you use a LONG press you will turn the unit off. When you have the unit assembled place over your ear in a quiet environment, check the diagrams on Page 1 and set the buttons as follows before putting the device on: Start by turning on the device on with #2. Then set volume to low by pressing #4 multiple times. Now put the device on over your ear and into your ear canal. Unless you have the device properly set on your ear you will not be able to easily hear the beeps. Highly recommended to be in a quiet environment. If you hear a whistling noise this means the earpiece is not setting well, or the volume is set too high. Note: As with any hearing device – you will have to experiment! 1. It is highly recommended to experiment with your device while watching TV as doing so will allow you to have a constant level of sound that you can change as you adjust noise and volume settings. 2. You will note that speech tends to become clearer as the device not only varies volume but separately increases the upper frequency range of speech. Slurred-sounding speech should be clearer. 3. Similarly it will be necessary to experiment with different sound tubes and domes – follow the User Guide instructions to get the best results. 4. At times you may hear a whistling noise. This typically means either that the volume is too high, or that the dome is not fitting well. 5. No hearing device will get sound input equally from all directions. Cup your hand behind your ear to hear the differences. Sometimes doing a large yawn may result in clearer sound as this may cause the dome to fit better. Also tipping your head may help. Changing domes may also produce a better result for you. IT WILL TAKE TIME TO GET REALLY FAMILIAR WITH THE 206 BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT - EXPERIMENT!!

I didn’t realize that I paid all of that money for one hearing aid. That is ridiculous and it has a ringing sound a loud ringing sound. I definitely would not recommend it.

I'm updating my review and reducing it from four stars to three. My original Banglijian was excellent, which was a huge surprise to me. I wasn't expecting much, but it met my needs reasonably well. It wasn't quite as good as the $500 unit it replaced (which I lost), but for the price difference, the Banglijian was a bargain. However it died one day before the 18 month warranty expired. Banglijianm honored the warranty and sent me a replacement. The warranty submission process was unusual and I was skeptical that they would actually send me a replacement, but they did. Unlike many electronics companies, the replacement they sent me appeared to be brand new, not a "reconditioned" unit like most companies send. I was impressed and was ready to imcrease my star rating from 4 to 5. I was going to write a glowing review. However a problem developed. It's been several months, but I still have not been able to get it to work right. I've now given up. I may bite the bullet and spend $500 to replace the original unit that I bought my first Banglijian to replace. I'm guessing that Banglijian quality control is uneven. You might get an excellent one, like my first one, or you might get a dud, like my warranty replacement. The fact that my first one only lasted 18 months is not encouraging about Bangijian quality. Summary: - Baglijian Honors warranty (although the process is a little strange) - Sound quality can be excellent get a good one) - Quality control uneven, based on my experience - At just over 1/4 the price of the $500 unit I lost, it still might be worth gambling on Bangijian despite the uneven quality control (though this time I'll probably spend the $500) Original review: ============ I originally bought this as a relatively inexpensive temporary replacement for the much more expensive PSAP that I was hoping I had just misplaced. 14 months later, I still haven't found the other PSAP and I'm finding that this Banglijian is better than I expected. The sound quality is good, the volume is sufficient even with the thin tube, and the overall quality seems good. However, it's not perfect. Lately it's been getting an occasional popping noise. It's not a major problem, but it could indicate a developing problem. My one complaint that it's not possible to download a manual for it. I've misplaced mine and so there's no way of knowing which of the three listening modes is which. It probably speaks well for the Banglijian that I haven't had a need until now to try different listening modes. It's not a huge problem - I can figure it out by experimenting - but it would be nice not to have to deal with it. Overall however the Banglijian works well for my main need of hearing someone speaking on the other side of moderate size room. It's not my first PSAP. Initially I owned a series of Walkers Game Ear models, and then nearly two years ago I bought a Soundworld Solutions SIdekick. I loved the Sidekick, but I somehow lost it. I of course have no way of comparing the sound quality of the Banglijian with the Sidekick (though I miss being able to adjust audio characteristics like I could with the Sidekick), but the sound quality of the Banglijian is definitely better than the Walkers Game Ear Digital Elite that I bought three years ago.

I've had a hearing problem for years. I bought some prescribed ITE hearing aids and though they increased volume speech/word recognition was not improved... and battery replacement was a pain. As such I quit wearing them. My hearing further degraded and I dug out the ITE's and tried them again with the same results. This made me reluctant to buy another set of expensive hearing aids even though I realize that technology has improved. Once bought they are yours! After doing some research on newer hearing aids I decided to try the Banglijian Rechargeable Ziv-206. The cost was minimal compared to the premium brands prescribed by doctors and if they don't do the job they can be returned hassle free. The instruction manual included seemed to indicate that the use of the large tubes was the preferred choice over the thin tubes, so that is where I started. The results were good. However, it required me to use the lowest volume setting and the three filter settings didn't seem to have much distinction between them. Although I was pleased with the result I decided to try using the thin tubes as it was noted in the literature that this would reduce the gain provided by the device.... I had to use the lowest gain setting anyway. Boy, what a difference! The volume setting is now mid range and the filter settings make a noticeable difference. I'd suggest that anyone should try the thin tubes before making a judgment and don't know why that isn't explained a little better in the literature. The controls are fairly easy to use and the recharge time is about two hours. Note: I couldn't find the difference between the Ziv-206 and less expensive models. I asked the supplier via Amazon and got a quick reply (confirming other good customer service reviews). The Ziv-206 is an upgrade of the Ziv-201P that offers clearer quality amplification. Conclusion: One of the best purchases I've made in a long time! Minimal expense and no risk to try!

When I first put these on today, I could hear birds chirping outside that I could not hear AT ALL when I took them off. I didn't realize my hearing was that bad, but apparently it is bad enough to not hear the birds from inside my house. I had a hearing amplifier from the brand AIOZE and these banglijian ones are SOOO much better (more expensive but SOO worth it)!!! My previous ones stuck out of my ears too far and the domes were always popping out of my ears. They were also wayyyy too loud even on the quietest setting. Even though these ones are marketed for moderate-severe hearing loss, they are PERFECT. (I have mild-moderate loss but I think they would be great even if you had moderate or severe hearing loss) The sound quality is amazing, they are SOO comfortable, and I love the different adjustments which is why I purchased this model. I also love how small and discreet the thin tubes are. There isn't very much static (a tiny bit but SO much better than my other ones..) I saw a few reviews and a youtube video showing and talking about the constant loud screeching. They screech when there's no tubes on them but once I put the tubes on they haven't screeched even once (no matter how much I touch and mess with them). My previous ones didn't screech that much but did when I took them out of my ears. These ones haven't screeched one time and i've worn them all day long. It's only been one day, but I LOVE them. I will update this review if they stop working or something goes wrong with them, but I hope they last because they are amazing!

This is an over the counter amplification device, nothing more, nothing less. It is the equivalent of $10 reading glasses bought in a discount store or pharmacy. It does the job fine for just increasing the volume but it will not compensate or adjust for lost tones. I bought this product as a temporary device to have on hand when the ear mold connection to my latest and greatest hearing aid broke, and having a new one made would cost almost as much as an OC hearing amplifier, and take several weeks. The hearing aid before that still works, but the tiny plastic connection to the mold broke and was going to cost a several hundred dollar service charge to send back to the factory for repair. I am not sure what happened with the hearing aids before that, probably something needed adjusting but the model was discontinued. Each time I would be assured by the audiologist who seems to have majored from a slick sales course that the latest hearing aids were vastly superior to last year's model, which I NEVER found them to be. In 40 years I have had several hearing aids costing thousands of dollars, which failed due to a small plastic part or discontinued lines which could not be serviced, and I would be pressured by slick salesmen to buy a new one. As I am retired, over 80, do not have to go to work and communicate with the public, have a caption phone and only watch TV with subtitles, I really don't need a hearing aid at all, but just like to have something in case of need. My deafness is congenital with around a 90% loss in my left ear, and moderate loss in my right, but can never get a straight answer from the audiologists. I can hear speech, but cannot make out words. Everyone seems to be speaking in a foreign language. Music no longer sounds as I remember it, and orchestras sound as if half the players have downed instruments and walked out. After looking at dozens of models and weighing up specifications and reviews, I decided to play safe and not go for the more expensive ones which had Bluetooth, telecoils and were self programmable via a smart phone as I don't have a smart phone. Having read the customer reviews and specifications for the Banglijiang ZIV-206 I felt that if it did not work too well, I was not going to be too far out of pocket. As it could be worn in either ear, if I decided to get my hearing aid repaired I could wear it in the other ear to pump up the volume and add balance. The rechargeable feature was also attractive as batteries seem to be more expensive by the day. So far, it works well, and is very comfortable It was easy to get the hang of assembling the ear tube and domes, although the instructions could have been clearer. I spent some time trying to fit the slim tube into the ear loop until I reread the instructions and found that they were for the thick tube and the ear loop had to be removed when using the slim tube. Several of the instructions needed larger and clearing drawings. As I am now arthritic and have lost the feeling in my fingertips, fitting the ear tube into my ear is difficult, but that is not the fault of the manufacturer. The biggest criticism I have, and the reason for only awarding 4 stars, is that there is no way to balance the sound modes which is comfortable as long as the sound remains at the same level. When music interrupts, a character speaking suddenly shouts, or a woman with a high pitched voice starts to speak, the volume nearly blasts my eardrums. Listening to music is almost impossible as some instruments have much more piercing tones. All I can do is use a lower setting, but then I miss the quieter sounds. The instruction booklet sates that it has 4 channels. There are only 3, but they work just fine. Pros and cons: Pros: For a low cost device, this does the job but don't expect the superior performance of a custom tailored hearing aid. Comfortable to wear Nice hard storage case Can be worn in either ear Rechargeable Affordable Lots of power for those with severe hearing loss. Cons: Hard to fit into ear canal for arthritic seniors Lacks way to cancel out loud high pitched sound Written instructions could be clearer.
