Very Hodgsons quality futon mattress. You do need a mat underneath though

Surprisingly comfortable and has helped ease my upper back and neck pain from office work. I would recommend this product. It may take a few nights to get used to the mattress and floor sleeping but give it chance.

Great product

I wanted to give the futon a few months use before leaving a review, which I have. It may not be the thickest but it is remarkably comfortable and very light. I have a bad lower back and using this futon has really helped. I sleep better and don't wake up anyway near so sore. Two nice touches were a thank you note and an origami stork. I bought this futon because I wanted a good quality product and am very pleased with it.

Bought this to replace an uncomfortable air mattress used as a spare bed. My first guest found sleeping on the shikibuton a new experience but very comfortable. I also needed something easy to store in my ottoman storage bed, and this works perfectly. I'm very pleased with this item.

I think the important thing to know is that this is not a mattress in the western sense, it's not going to support/wrap around your full body. This style of traditional futon it's main purpose is to help the body to support itself and to relieve the discomfort on the parts that contact the base like hip and shoulder joints. I think the depth measurement is given too much emphasis, yes it does fluff up but when you lay on it you are not going to get that much depth, the layers cushion the firm pad in the middle which is what supports the contact points. I've experimented with various sleep mats but needed something that was easier to put away each morning and a little more fit for purpose, so a Japanese futon fits the bill! I would recommend trying a self inflating camping mat say 4cm and if you get on with that for a few nights then I think you'll have no issues with this as a permanent bed.

Despite the fact that it is not thick, it offers great support for your back.

Older person using it on the floor could do with a bit more padding

Excelente para dormir en suelos de madera. Si es algun otro material como loseta, es muy necesario que tenga tatami debajo para disipar la humedad.Dale 2 semanas con uso regular para que se expanda bien.Vale la pena, esto y un tatami y te olvidas de bases de cama y mudanzas dificiles.

Bought second one. Personally, I tend to get a bit hot, but I live in Dubai, sooo…probably, insulation is just right to cover 4 seasons.Personally, I love firm mattresses and sleeping on the floor. It’s not to save money. I would have bought ratio 8 sleep pod, but they have to delivery to Dubai in any way or form.

Received in good condition. Futon was packaged in a vacuum zip-lock bag and after unpackaging, it fluffed up after some time. Cooling material to lie on. Manual that came with the futon also gave clear instructions on maintenance.
