Excellent Results But Somewhat Pricey
I purchased the Oral-B Pro 5000 Smart Series toothbrush when my Pursonic ultrasonic toothbrush suddenly broke when it's on/off button jammed after only 3 months and no longer could be turned on. The Oral-B Pro 5000 was pricey but, since it appeared to be made sturdier and had some features that I loved, I decided to purchase it. I've owned it about 2 months now. The Pursonic customer support was honest and did repair it for free including free shipping and returned it about 3 weeks later. However, I gave the Pursonic toothbrush to my spouse when we got the repaired toothbrush back. It is still working after about 2 months. I had originally loved the Pursonic ultrasonic toothbrush when it worked and liked that it turned off automatically after 2 minutes. Thus, I was originally taken aback by the Oral-B Pro 5000 when it did not shut off automatically when it reached 2 minutes. However, once I got used to this feature I now like this feature better because I often take extra time to brush my front lower teeth where I tend to get tartar and stains. I've noticed my coffee stains are now gone and my teeth look even brighter than before. While the Pursonic toothbrush had improved my gums and teeth, it had not improved my teeth and gums to the degree of the Oral-B toothbrush. I also love that I can turn the Oral-B toothbrush on or off at will and it remains ready to be turned on again for 30 seconds. This is much more convenient as I often have to spit out the excess toothpaste and saliva that collects in my mouth and now I don't lose any brushing time. I found the replacement heads are much more expensive than the replacement heads for the Pursonic toothbrush. I was worried that the Oral-B toothbrush heads were much larger than the Pursonic toothbrush heads and worried they would be too big for my mouth to prevent proper brushing. I have had no problem getting the Oral-B toothbrush head to go in every available tooth surface. Additionally, the toothbrush head for the Oral-B is much sturdier and is constructed much better. The Oral-B toothbrush heads have also more variety and seem to get between my teeth better. The Oral-B toothbrush to cleans my teeth better since my teeth are now stain-free. The Oral-B toothbrush also provides a few additional settings (mine came with 5 different modes) from the Pursonic toothbrush in case you need them. The Pursonic also came with a few different setting and, probably came with all the settings you need. I've only used the default setting for both toothbrushes as that setting seems to provide a good brushing for my teeth and gums. One negative for the Oral-B toothbrush is the bluetooth feature that comes with the toothbrush. Although the bluetooth feature sounds cool, it is not very useful. The bluetooth feature for Oral-B does work seamlessly with my samsung s4 smart phone but had very silly and useless features. I only used it for less than one day because using it is too onerous for what it provides. The Oral-B comes with a plastic travel case but the case is very bulky so I am not sure if I will use it when I travel. It does not have an ultrasonic feature, which I liked on the Pursonic toothbrush. If you can afford the Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries I recommend it over the Pursonic for it's superior toothbrush features and how it has improved my teeth and gums. However, if you find an Oral B that comes without bluetooth and is priced cheaper, I would go for the toothbrush without bluetooth because the Oral-B bluetooth feature is not worth extra money. Overall, I'm glad I made this purchase and it met or exceeded my expectations in most categories.

Super brush!
This is the second Oral-B powered toothbrush that I've owned, and I'm even happier with it than I was with my first one (which I also really liked). The most important aspect of a toothbrush is how it performs. For my wife and I, we love how fresh and clean our teeth feel after brushing with it. It has several different brushing mode to suit your tastes: 1) a higher power, more vigorous brushing mode 2) a slightly lower power mode, if you are slightly overwhelmed with the full power mode (this is especially helpful for younger kids using the brush) 3) a pulse mode that alternates between a higher and slower spin/vibrate action that is even more gentle One of the handiest features of a smart electric brush like this is that it has a built in timer to help you to know if you've brushed enough to really clean your teeth. You can set it for 2:00 or 3:00. This is, of course, just a guideline, for how much one should brush to clean their teeth thoroughly, but it is helpful. The whole body of the brush pulses after each successive 25% has been completed. I use this to clean my quadrants (lower left, lower right, upper left, upper right) so I can be a bit more confident that I've given equal time to all my teeth. On another note, the device is well built. I wouldn't hazard to drop it intentionally, but if reasonably cared for it should provide years of service. My last Oral-B brush lasted 5 years or so before the rechargeable battery started to give out (which is expected). I'm sure this one will last at least as long. Speaking of batteries, this brush has a very sleek wireless charging system. No exposed contacts or ports to cover - just set it on its base and it does the job. Include in the package was a nice, low profile base with an attached caddy for up to four brush heads (if you are sharing the brush with family or significant others). It also comes with a plastic shell caddy for short trips. I found I could pretty comfortably use the brush for 3-5 days while traveling without requiring the charing base, though your milage may vary. Just a note about the caddy. My last brush came with the same plastic caddy. The hinge of the caddy eventually broke but the two halves of the shell still snapped together effectively enough that it was still useable/useful. An annoyance to be sure, but not a major problem. This unit also can communicate with an app on your smartphone that can provide you with brushing insights and remind you when to change your brush. As of this writing, the software is only useful if only one person is using the brush as it doesn't currently have the notion of distinct users - everyone's brushings are evaluated together. As a techie, I would normally love something like this, but so far I have not been terribly motivated to open the app while I'm near my toothbrush so the brushing history can sync, etc. So, while the smartphone/app integration is not currently a major selling point, the really important functionality and quality of the product is there.

Great electric toothbrush
My dentist has been suggesting an electric toothbrush for years now and I've been hesitant. So this last visit I asked her the true benefits and after all she said I knew it was time. This is the one they promote at my dentists office and was forever grateful as always to be able to get it here at Amazon for a much discounted price. Now for the toothbrush. Honestly, once you go electric you will never go back to manual. The clean feeling you get is amazing. My Pro 5000 came with a "floss action" brush head which I sometimes use but I also purchased a pack of sensitive heads. I have very sensitive teeth and gums and have always used ultra sensitive manual toothbrushes. To be honest it has taken me a while to figure out the best way to use the brush for me. I always brush longer than 2 minutes so the timer is a must to have but I know I am brushing a t least 2 minutes every time. What benefits me the most is the pulsing yellow light when pressing too hard. It blew me away to see that handle flashing yellow with a pressure I thought was gentle. I still find it difficult to maneuver the brush to certain back teeth and part of it is me getting to truly believe the pulsating head will do all the cleaning. I can see people who like modern technology and gadgets liking the blutooth app. For me, I link my brush to it once a week to see how long I brushed. Other than that I don't use it. It also took me time to realize I needed to put the brush into sensitive mode to be as gentle as possible with my teeth. And due to their sensitivity after I brush yes the teeth tingle and feel fresh but they also hurt a little. This concerns me some but I have gotten the brush to not flash yellow, my gums are a healthy pink and look amazing. Also an hour after done brushing that sensitivity goes away. I think it is truly due to any electric action is certainly stronger on my teeth than the ultra sensitive manual brushes I used to use. And now when I floss it is so simple. Can't wait to get the final appraisal when I go back to my dentist in a couple of months. Bottom line my teeth never felt this clean with a manual toothbrush. if you are hesitant to go electric believe me, it is not hype. And this Oral B Pro 5000 has worked awesome for me and I have had it 3 months now.

Good toothbrush... not sure the bluetooth connectivity is necessary
This toothbrush replaced an Oral B Triumph electric toothbrush that was several years old and starting to show a lot of wear. I needed a new toothbrush anyway and the bluetooth feature intrigued me. After having used it for a few days I will say that I'm very happy with the toothbrush itself. The brush head I was using was only 4 or 6 weeks old, so I just put my existing brush head on the new toothbrush and I was quite surprised that my teeth felt noticeably cleaner than when I brushed with my old triumph brush, even though I was using the exact same brush head. The triumph was in the same price range as this brush, so I really wasn't expecting any difference in brushing performance. This brush is also noticeably lighter than my old triumph. I'm not sure how helpful the bluetooth feature really is, though. It's really a bit of a pain to remember to bring my phone to the bathroom, unlock the phone, start the app, then start brushing every time. While you're brushing the app pretty much gives you the same info that you get with the smart guide that Oral B has included with their toothbrushes for a while now (although it does also include news headlines, weather information, and upcoming calendar appointments) but frankly, when I first got my triumph brush I think I used the smart guide for all of about a week and then managed to lose it in the back of a bathroom cabinet, so I'm not sure I really see myself continuing to open up the app every time I brush my teeth. The app will also record how often and how long you brush for and the brush will retain 20 sessions if you don't start the app each time you brush, so if you want a log of your brushing habits, then it would be good for this and you'd only have to sync with your phone about every two weeks or so, but frankly, I'm not entirely certain why I'd want a log of how often I brush my teeth. The other thing worth noting is that it doesn't work well to share the brush with someone else. The brush will sync with more than one phone, so if everyone remembers to open the app every time they brush, then it will work and the data will all be logged correctly for each user. However, if you don't open the app the brush will store the session in it's own memory and will then sync that session with the first phone that it connects to. So if my wife wakes up first and brushes her teeth without connecting her phone, then I connect my phone and start brushing the app will show that I brushed my teeth twice that morning... once from the saved session that my wife did and once from when I actually brushed them. So in the end I'm going to keep the brush as I'm really quite happy with it's performance as an electric toothbrush, and the bluetooth feature doesn't really add any additional cost (I believe it's actually the same price as the non-bluetooth Pro 5000), but I'm not sure I'll actually be using the bluetooth feature several weeks from now.

Beautiful looking toothbrush but may have some motor flaws.
So I unboxed this brand new , beautifully made tooth brush. It comes with perfect instructions and pictures to better understand this product. The toothbrush is made beautifully and the packaging is superb! Everything is played out for one to get the best experience possible with this brand. I am charging the toothbrush as I write this review. It will take about 6-12 hours for the full charge. It comes with beautiful charger, a base that has an extension hanger for at least 4 brush heads, a carry case for traveling and the actual tooth brush handle that has a rubber grip. This smart 5000 series is Bluetooth compatible to focus more on your daily routine. There are 5 modes which is awesome and one cross action brush. You can buy any additional brushes (that target different types of cleaning) if needed to meet your brushing needs. The device is loud as mentioned in the reviews but I will not let that overpower the great cleaning I will get once I use it! A while ago I had ordered another Oral B toothbrush that I returned because I read reviews stating it was very loud, only to discover my friend and sister had the same toothbrush and was loving it because of its cleaning action. I won’t make that mistake again. I will be giving an update after the tooth brush is fully charged and I put it to use!! Until then , it is a beautiful, well made, extremely excellent quality electric toothbrush!💕 Update: After charging the toothbrush, I discovered that the handle shaft did not allow the oscillator mechanism to function properly. There was very powerful vibration but no oscillation. Also, while the brush pauses to do the next quadrant in your mouth , it make a strange hesitant grinding noise. The battery drains very fast too and takes a while to charge again. The tooth brush is beautiful but there seems to be some issues with the motor . As always, it could just be this particular toothbrush that has a defect but not the brand or model. I am glad I gave it a fair chance but unfortunately this toothbrush is not like the description.

Worth every penny
I have used the oral b 1000 for a few years now and wanted an upgrade. I tried the oral b IO but it didn't seem as powerful as my oral b 1000. I tgen decided to get the oral b 1500 but noticed it had 3 settings so finally decided on the oral b 5000 and oh mm gee..I think it was the smartest decision I've made in a long time. I love the 5 settings it has. Its super sleek and totally love it. I decided on the black one to save a few bucks. I truly love it.

Love it
I won't rehash what others have already said, this is a great toothbrush, you won't be sorry buying it. What I will do is point out things that aren't mentioned much, but that were important to me. 1) There's little to no difference between this model and higher priced ones, even 2x the price - by 'little' difference, I mean the higher price gets you more features in the app and another 'brushing mode' or two, like pulsating or an additional 'gentle mode'. By 'no difference', I mean inside-hardware and capability-wise, they're actually all the same. Spend more if app features are important to you, save your money if they're not. 2) This model has no indication which of the 5 brushing modes you're on - Oral-B decided to charge an extra Benjamin for that feature on the next model up, I think it's the Smart Pro Limited or Smart Pro 6000, which has a light-up display that lights up icons when you switch modes; that's really all the higher price gets you. You can either count the modes yourself and save some money, or just holding the mode switch button automatically resets it to the first mode if you forget. 3) The bluetooth comes automatically on, but you can turn it off anytime by just holding both the power button and the mode switch button for 3 seconds. The bluetooth icon will flash, and then turn off. It'll stay off forever, or until you repeat that action, then it'll flash and stay on. Very simple, but good to know if you don't care about the app and want to save battery 4) I looove that this brush doesn't actually stop brushing when it hits the 30 second mark. I've always hated how my last brush, the discontinued 4000 Pro model, would just stop and beep - very annoying since I brush at my own pace. It was especially annoying when I was brushing the back of my tongue and the abrupt interruption always almost caused me to gag; this one just beeps and slows down for half a second - it's actually hard to notice if you're not looking for it - which is a huge plus for me. I can finally brush how I want and not forced to pause because I was out of sync with the timer All in all, I'm very pleased with this model, really no regrets, and hope it lasts for years to come.

My dental hygienist says it's really improved my cleaning!
To start off, my teeth have never felt cleaner, even though I used to use a good-quality SonicCare vibrating brush. This does a terrific job if you use it right. We are all thinking that the idea of a Bluetooth toothbrush is funny but it really encourages me to brush my teeth, my tongue and floss much more often. It does little beeps and awards for consistently using it, which is rewarding. I'm MUCH more consistent about doing the entire routine than ever before, and I never "cheat" and tell the phone app that I've flossed when I haven't, because I'd only be cheating myself. The best thing about this feature is that it saves your sessions on the toothbrush, so you don't have to run the phone app every time you brush. The next time you brush with the phone app open, just tap the "brushing mode" button and it will sync up the previous sessions. That way you don't lose the momentum. The app also will display news, sports, etc articles while you're brushing, and you can select the general categories it will display. But I rarely look at the displays because I'm focused on getting all the nooks and crannies between my teeth, which currently require enough focus that I can't do that and read effectively. So for me, this is a useless feature. The battery lasts for almost 2 weeks, even though I brush more than the 2 minute minimum they recommend. The charging base is nice and small, so very portable for travel. I couldn't be more pleased, unless they included replacement brush heads, which they recommend you change every 3 months. Highly recommended, especially if you can get it on sale. UPDATED 4/28/15: I got my teeth cleaned for the first time since getting this and the dental hygienist said that whatever this toothbrush was doing for me, it was really working. She said my gums and teeth never looked better. However she did warn me not to press too hard at the gumline, as she saw little curves where the rotating brush was grinding the soft part of my teeth at the gumline. I really find the fact that I can track my brushing and flossing has increased my frequency. I just hit a new high of having flossed 27 days in a row, where I used to be an occasional flosser. Only 3 more days to get the 30-day "award" from the phone app!

Best tooth brush ever
This is a whole new level of cleaning capability. Ever since Oral B hit the market there is no better cleaning tool but many people use it so much or incorrectly they add other problems. Time and pressure are important to monitor especially for those who use this multiple times a day. This new technology allows these side effects to be controlled. It is easy to use and the Bluetooth connect allows techies greater insights and fun! It is a bit expensive but lasts for years so a good purchase.
