Excellent once you figure out how to use it safely
I've been using this deodorant for a few years now, and I have mostly good things to say about it and a few tips to share. I bought the small applicator bottle only once and have refilled it several times, and it's still working great. The ring that retains the ball unscrews from the bottle, so the bottle, the ring, the ball, and the cap can all be washed and dried separately. I have learned to refill the applicator bottle only partially, no more than half full, and keep the rest of the refill bottle in the refrigerator. This means the product is sitting out at room temperature for less time between washings and refillings, and I believe it stays fresher this way, possibly leading to less irritation, which brings me to my next point. Early on in my use of this product, I suffered some skin irritation where I had applied it, but I have learned some best practices to avoid that, and I have not suffered any irritation in a long time now. It seems to be fairly important that your skin (and any underarm hair) is fully *dry* before applying this product. Avoid rubbing your underarms with a towel to dry them, as that will exfoliate the skin and leave it more vulnerable. Instead, pat dry only, and then wait to air dry fully. Once dry, reach your arm backward behind your head so your underarm is facing upward, and then hold the bottle inverted in your other hand and roll it gently over your underarm, keeping the bottle perpendicular to your skin at all points. You need to avoid allowing the rim of the retaining ring to scrape along your skin, as that will damage the skin and lead to irritation, so be sure that *only the ball* contacts your skin. After applying, wait until the product has fully dried before putting on a shirt. The less time your underarms stay wet with this product, the less likely it is that they will become irritated by it. Following these precautions, I have not had any more irritation, and now I can confidently say that I love this product. Believing in the antimicrobial properties of silver, and being skeptical of the safety of aluminium-based antiperspirants, Silver Shield makes the most sense to me. Its ingredients are basically a solvent (water), a natural antimicrobial (silver nanoparticles), some thickeners (guar gum and xanthan gum), some pH buffers (baking soda and washing soda), some essential oils that smell nice, and a natural emulsifier (sunflower lecithin) to make the water and oils mix. Very straightforward. I have kind of wondered about the pH of this product with those sodas in it, as I have suspected that it may be somewhat caustic and that may have been contributing to the irritation I was experiencing, but I never got around to testing the pH since I figured out how to avoid the irritation. I am not a biochemist, but I'd guess this stuff might grow mold if it had a near-neutral pH, so maybe they have to give it a more alkaline pH to make it shelf-stable โ totally an unsubstantiated guess on my part! Regarding scent, I don't know how Amazon's AI is concluding that this product is odorless. (Maybe it's getting confused by the structure of sentences like that last one there.) This product definitely has a scent. My girlfriend thinks it smells peppery. The product description says "floral," but that doesn't seem right to me. I don't know what it is, but it smells "natural" and clean, definitely like essential oils of some kind and not at all like the synthetic fragrances that most deodorants contain. The scent is noticeable but not overpowering. I am sensitive to strong fragrances, but this stuff never gives me a headache, and I'm the one wearing it. The scent lasts for a few hours, but the effectiveness of the product against body odor lasts *much* longer. I'm sure it depends on your particular body chemistry and microbiome, but I personally can go over 24 hours wearing this product without developing any off-putting odors at all. As other reviewers have noted, it is not an antiperspirant, and I do sweat through if I get too hot, but the sticky gums that are included in the product's formulation keep the product stuck where I applied it even when the sweat is dripping off of me. That said, it's always best to shower off and reapply after sweating a bunch. I think my only real complaint about this product is its price. It is certainly not inexpensive. However, you generally do get what you pay for, and this stuff is no exception. Real nano-silver and essential oils are not cheap ingredients. If you want an antimicrobial deodorant that actually works and doesn't contain a mad scientist's entire chemistry lab of questionable chemicals, then Silver Shield is the stuff you're looking for.

Amazing!
I will try to keep this short but share enough information to help other buyers. I have tried every other brand of deodorant and antiperspirant, both natural and regular. I have tried every home remedy including baking soda, coconut oil, and various supplements. My under arm odor was a continuous problem, though, and nothing seemed to alleviate or lesson the issue. I ran into Silver Shield when ordering colloidal silver on Amazon and thought I would give it a try. I have tried using colloidal silver on my under arms, but didn't have much luck with it. I was hoping the combination of ingredients would help. In short, I am amazed at the effectiveness of this product. I have been using it for a few months now and it continues to work everyday, all day, even when I workout. Most days, I have absolutely no odor and the days when I do have some, it is not noticeable unless I am trying to check for it. Some reviewers mentioned pain from using this product and I will say that it does take some adjusting to figure out the best way to use it. At first I didn't use it right after shaving because I was afraid it would burn. I have found that if I use a hair dryer to dry the skin before applying, I don't have any pain even after I shave. Also, the first week I used it, I did notice pain in one side of my underarm that stretched to the front of my chest. I could tell that the pain was located in the lymph nodes, though, and did some research on the ingredients of the product. My conclusion was that my lymph system was dealing with something, perhaps from past antiperspirants, and the colloidal silver, sodium bicarbonate, aloe vera, and grapefruit were expediting this process. I decided to give it a little longer and found the pain quickly cleared up and I have not had a problem since. Of course, this is not a medical opinion, but I mention it because at least one reviewer addressed a similar type of pain. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. I think customers have to experiment and find the best method to use it for their body, though. The extra time and effort is worth it though when you consider that you are using a product that is much safer than conventional ones and much more effective as well! I am so thankful to have found this product!!

Works for me
I have always had to use antiperspirants because deodorants could never make it through the day. This stuff works like an anti perspirant-- I can put it on in the morning and not be smelly halfway through the day. On top of that, it's aluminum free. Is that better? There is conflicting research on the matter, but silver is considered biologically inert while aluminum is not. If you buy the refills instead of a new roll on bottle every time, this product is cost competitive, and you are helping create less waste. There is a slight smell that goes away shortly after being applied.

The One
I stopped using regular deodorant about two years ago. During that time, I've tried just about every natural deodorant available at Whole Foods (GeoDeo, Tom's of Maine, Weleda, etc.) and several from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, none of them worked very well at controlling odors. If I was lucky, I could get maybe six stinkless hours out of a product, but that was rare. The only thing that kept me from running back to regular deodorant was that I feared their dangerous ingredients more than my own stench. I had gone through three or four different deodorants that I ordered from Amazon.com, but I still wasn't convinced that any of them were "The One". I read the reviews on this deodorant and decided to give it a try. I was prepared to be disappointed, AGAIN, but OMG, this stuff REALLY WORKS! It lasts all day - even through my intense and sweaty cardio workouts at the gym after work. As a couple of other reviewers mentioned, I did run into a problem with stinging when I used it right after shaving; but found if I dry my skin off well and wait about 5-10 minutes before applying, I have no problem with stinging (and I have excruciatingly sensitive skin). I've just ordered a refill (love the fact that you can re-use container) and now my husband is using it. He was also skeptical about odor control at first, but now he, too, is a believer. Thank you for making a healthy alternative to regular deodorant that actually works for me. UPDATE 2/25/2016: I have been using this deodorant daily for well over a year and it continues to work amazingly well for me. I did have issues with rashes a few months into using this product, but I think it had to do with the laundry detergent I was using at the time. I switched that out and I haven't had any issues since. I am soooooooo happy I found a natural product that actually works and doesn't contain propylene glycol or aluminum.

Why does this now have a lasting scent?
This sensitive skin formula deodorant used to be practically odorless. It had a slight sent when first applied that wasn't unpleasant and would go away once it dried. I just reordered two of these 2x refill bottles and now I smell of... I think it's sandalwood? When I suggested that's what I thought it smelled like, my family members seem to agree that it is either that, or something similar smelling. Don't get me wrong, the scent isn't room-filling or anything. I just catch a whiff of myself on the regular now and I used to have no scent at all. I have been using this product for years and thought I had found the one for me. The search begins anew. Also strange, when smelling the product directly in the bottle, it doesn't strike me as sandalwood, it smells rather menthol like. So I don't know, maybe the product has stopped working and my "BO" leans toward sandalwood? lol. I don't know. All I do know is this batch gets an F- P.S. Because of this new development, I was moved to check the ingredients again after all this time. Clearly I must have given this product the benefit of the doubt the first time I got it despite not listing specifically which essential oils are in it, filled with hope for the potential of a silver based deodorant. Normally I won't use anything with an un-disclosed "blend" as who knows what's in there and what might be the cause of a sensitivity? Non-disclosure is always sketchy and rarely necessary. It's not like there's fierce competition in the colloidal silver deodorant market.

Mixed results
I would give this product 5 stars for effectiveness in treating the BO problem but I have to knock it down a few stars. I like this product a LOT but I'm not sure if it's causing a skin irritation as a slight rash has shown up after switching from Nutribiotic deodorant. I liked Nutribiotic (no skin irritation) but it would only work for half the day. Since I started using this Sensitive skin formula the usual odor is completely gone. I picked the Sensitive formula thinking that it would not irritate my skin. I play a lot of basketball and go cycling a lot and not once has this deodorant failed me. I use colloidal silver for other things such as in my water or the gel for cuts and it's really amazing stuff. Perhaps I'm allergic to an ingredient in the formula. I hope that's not the case because I really like the fact that the underarm odor has completely disappeared for more than 24 hours since I started using this. I tested it to see how long it would last with two applications on each underarm, I got about a day and a half before it started smelling. I did this on a weekend where I had to work at home and didn't go out much but I did play basketball. LOL. Like I mentioned in the title, it's a mixed result for me. Maybe it will work for you or like me, it works but with possible skin irritation.

Its the real thing and works for severe Old Man Pit smell
I am a severe test of deodorants' effectiveness. I will ding this one star only because of its very high price, but otherwise it works and I will continue to use it. I was using a Name Brand deodorant that had silver ions. It worked great, but then they made the silver ion reference very tiny and almost hidden on the label, and a bit later my wife was remarking that I seemed to have hit the next level of Stinky Old Man, as I stunk in spite of my deodorant. I took a closer look at the recent batch and no more Silver Ion....only the price was the same. It is extremely difficult to find REAL silver based deodorants, which is the only thing that works for me. This is the real thing. I do not like anti-perspirants for a number of reasons, so just being a deodorant is perfect. Complaints about the Original formula are likely due to all the essential oils, which tend to be very reactive on the skin of many people. I have sensitive skin and the Silver Botanicals sensitive formula is compatible with me. I have also noticed very little needs to be applied. I give it a couple of shakes, do two light stripes on each pit, clamp my arms down and a couple back and forth arm moves. So far, works for 24 hours, which is really amazing for me.

Good deodorant and clothing freshener
I tried this as a referral from a friend regarding Colloidal Silver. I used it and it smells like tea tree oil and chemicals. Strong but it didn't bother me much. It has a thick consistency. When I spray it on the smell dissipates so I don't smell like a medicine cabinet. I don't use it for deodorant anymore, but I have found that is is a great clothing freshener. When I traveled and could not wash clothes in a timely manner, I decided to spray this on odor prone areas of my clothes, let it dry, then wore it again. It neutralized the odors quite well. Now I carry it in my travel bag all the time.
