Get this welder and stay away from the other cheap crap welders!
Ok so let's get this out in the open. This welder is not a Miller or a Lincoln, so therefore it will not perform anywhere near a true MIG 220v big boy welder. And once you know this and have that in mind when using this, it will become one of the the most agile and badass welder a for the money. I've done some 1/8" plate and angle iron. And it handled it with ease. I used up about 90% of the roll of wire that it came with in about 15 minutes. And the welder kept going without skipping a beat. Now compare this to a FDS or zeny no name Chinese AC cycle welder, this thing blows them out of the water. I bought one and regret buying it, I even went to the extent of putting a rectifier and capacitors in my original 110v flux core welder, and it helped. But it still can't compare to this Forney easy weld 299.You can get very decent results from this welder, and it can do pretty heavy metal. But do know that there are limitations. This is not the type of welder that should be relied on for heavy duty repairs or projects. It will do 1/4", but you will lack the penetration you need for a job that requires 1/4" steel. An example of this, if you have to weld a pickup truck's frame, this may not be the most suitable choice. Also it's all in the prep work, prep and clean your material you plan to weld. No dirt, grease, or grime. Wire brush/grind the area, make sure you have a good ground for your ground clamp. Once you've done this, then this welder can do almost any light to medium duty job. I'm not a welder by trade, but have been welding for most of my life and have friends who are. And I have the ability to use very heavy duty name brand machines whenever I need to. But for the hobbiest, homeowner, mechanic, or handyman, and even the artists out there. This welder would definitely be a good addition to your toolbox.I've posted some pictures of some of the trial and error beads with this welder, just so some of you can see how it does. And just a side note, my welder came on the day specified, and was not damaged in any way shape or form. All descriptions and specifications in the listing have thus far matched the welder to a T. I will be updating this when I finish building a roof rack for a Ford F-350. I hope that my review can at least inform you enough in your decision, but as I said before, please stay away from the AC current flux core welders, they really are terrible and a waste of money.

Great for the price!
I've had this little welder for close to a year now, and am finally getting around to writing a review. To start with, I'd like to say that this little 110 is just that; a little 110. That means it's very limited in what it can do, but what it can do it does very well. The good about this little welder, is that it is very reliable during use. The weld in and of itself is very clean; no contamination, and very consistent. It is very easy to set up and use, just follow the recommendations listed on the inside of the wire housing, and you're golden. The bad for this welder; it only has a 20 percent duty cycle at max output, but for me that's not a problem as I rarely have to weld longer than the rated duty cycle. The wire feed mechanism is plastic, with the exception of the wire rollers, and really doesn't seem to allow the end user to really fine tune the feed tension on the wire. And then the cords, and gun hose are a little short for my liking, so you have to have your power source very close, or have a long extension cord. Because it is a flux core wire feed welder ONLY, there is a lot of spatter that happens while welding, and is enough to make a person want to upgrade. But then again, this is an entry level welder, meant to introduce people to mig style welding without the large investment that mig welders come with, as well as for those DIY people who just need skmwthing small that is above and beyond what Harbor Freight has to offer. And finally, the tiny amount of wire that comes with this welder can easily be burned through on a a single project. As an example, take a look at the photo attached (yes I know my welds look like garbage, but that's because I suck). Like I mentioned earlier, the welder does a great job for being a flux core welder. I highly recommend this welder for anyone starting out, or looking for a cheap welder that won't break the bank, but will do a great job.

but it works amazing for small odd jobs
If you're looking for a heavy duty welder this isn't it, but it works amazing for small odd jobs. Easy to use and light weight for a welder of its size.

Great welder at a great price - perfect for hobbyist builds like RC Mower
Great product at a great price point. I'm a first time welder with no experience, and I was able to start joining angle iron and square tubing in no time. Welder has been super useful for hobbyist type welds, and occasional automotive fixes. My crowning achievement so far was an RC Lawn Mower I was able to build - thanks to this welder! I recommend getting 'Tip Dip' nozzle gel, I've done tons of welds on the first tip and at this rate, will never have to replace it. Get this one, skip the cheaper welders on Amazon.

she runs just fine in my shop for small welds and tacks
It works as intended. The feed and thickness need to be played with as you go or you are going to end up with splatter everywhere. My only worry is that toward the end of the 2 min duty run it tends to splatter a lot more and the feed needs to be adjusted again. Beyond that complaint, she runs just fine in my shop for small welds and tacks.

A good deal for the price
A neat little welder. I usually do TIG welding with a much more expensive Miller Diversion, but bought this for small jobs instead of carrying a large unit and tank up flights of stairs. So far I've used it to weld hooks to metal deck supports and for the inside welds on a smoker - it takes a couple passes to do 3/16" steel, but the penetration is decent and the joint solid. I'm going to be using it a lot to do inside corner joints instead of doing them with my TIG welder, and so far it seems like it will be perfect for that task.As a flux core welder the spatter and welds aren't that pretty, but they clean up quickly with an angle grinder. A really nice welder for the money! If you're buying this to learn to weld you'll also need gloves, a self darkening mask, and angle grinder with discs for cutting and grinding. Don't go with any of the cheaper welders that include those items - they're generally poor quality and a good quality mask, gloves, and grinder are very important.
