Quality costs
It seems a lot of money for what it is, but once you get it out of the box you realise it is very well engineered and it does the job really well. It is a little fiddly to set up, as I am sure they all are but once set up it works great, and its a nice little bit of bling on the deck.

Works well. Fiddly to set up
This is well engineered. It's very small; smaller than it looks in pictures. It's really fiddly to set up but once it's done it works well. I have mine stuck down with black-tac so I can adjust it in future if needs be. 3 times the price of the Q-up but looks nicer and has a smoother action. If you can afford it, pick this.

Effective, once you get placement exactly right
This is a well engineered piece of kit, though not cheap, you do feel you are getting something that is very well made. However, setting it up is not easy, this may be in part determined by the turntable you are fitting it to of course, but there is only a small area between the tonearm plinth and the edge of the turntable platter that this can fit in to. In order to align it accurately you have to have a record on the turntable, and although the instructions tell you to put the stylus cover on, in order to actually test that it is triggered and lifts the tonearm at the right point you need to play the last track of a record or three. Worth noting that you should try to find one or more LPs where the runout groove is quite narrow, i.e. where the last track finishes quite close to the label, if you use one with a wider runout groove to setup, when you later come to play a record with a narrow runout the tonearm will lift too soon, whilst the last track is still playing! The other problem is that you need to work out the position (and the height, though that is easy enough to adjust once the lift is in the right place) then stick the base of the post to the surface of the turntable, to do this they provide pre-cut double-sided tape, but you still have to lift the base of the 'raiser post' from the perfect position you have found for it in order to remove the covering from the tape, which effectively means it is very hard to get it back in exactly the same spot - we're talking factions of millimetres here, it has to be very precise indeed to be triggered at the right point. And the trigger arm flexes a little as the tonearm reaches it, there is a tiny amount of give, a few grooves of music before the trigger actually causes the lifting mechanism to release and raise the tonearm, so that is another factor to consider while setting it up. I found after discovering how hard it was to get back in exactly the spot you had previously identified as "perfect", and having to unstick it and replace the tape - they do at least provide a few spare pieces - that the easiest way was to position it, lift is as little as possible, remove the covering from the tape, but then just let it rest very lightly back onto the record player surface, so the adhesive barely stuck - then I tested the tonearm position again and made micro-adjustments each time, until it was lifting at exactly the right point, and only then did I press the post firmly down, so that the double-sided tape engaged fully. So, high cost aside, that is why 4-stars instead of 5, if there was a more reliable, or just plain simpler way to position and secure the post that would make fitting it much less hassle, it would be a 5 star rating.

Very useful stuff!
Audio-Technica AT6006R Tonearm Safety Raiser(Made in Japan) Just had it delivered and I installed it on my turntable in 5 minutes. Some people says that is very tricky to set it up,but isn't true. Safety autolifter for fully manual hi-fi turntables. A unique and very useful device that protects the dose needle from additional wear at the end of the record. The device is compatible with almost any type of turntable. It works flawlessly. I highly recommend it!

Clever and effective device, if expensive
This is a very neat little device, beautifully made, although it is rather expensive. In my case the geometry of a Thorens turntable and SME arm left very little space to install it, so that I had to disregard parts of the instructions. However it did just fit, with the lifting arm reversed, and looks as if it is part of the SME arm, whose base it touches. It remains to be seen how well the double-sided tape will hold it in place. So far it works perfectly, and it is a great relief not to need to rush over to avoid that run-out groove annoyance.

Not compatible with Audio-Technica LP120 and Not enough lift.
Not compatible with Audio-Technica LP120. Not enough lift. Forgetting to reset after each use may damage records

The Best Worst Lifter
Bit of a weird review - but more for information as opposed to criticizing what ostensibly seems to be a well-manufactured item. Out of the box the raiser is supremely well machined and solid feeling, and testing it without installation it works exactly as you'd want it to, with tonnes of adjustment both horizontally and vertically. However - caveats coming - you REALLY need to ensure you have ample space between the tonearm assembly and the platter as on my Pro-Ject T1, there was absolutely zero place I could put this without the 'trigger' being over the platter, meaning that putting a record on would take precision movements in order to slide it under the trigger and on, meaning just changing a record would be an arduous, almost hateful experience. I think in order for this to be installed in a sensible, logical position, you'd need 'real estate' between the tonearm assembly and the platter of at least 6-8 cm - and quite a few modern turntables don't have that. Also, I have a feeling that this was designed in mind for S and J shaped tonearms (quite common in Audio Technica's design language) as opposed to straight arms. Disappointing as like I said earlier, the lifter is extremely well built, but do your research in depth before considering.

Works So Well!
This is the 2nd AT6006R I have bought. The first I put on a Clearaudio Concept Turntable and for the last couple years it has worked flawlessly! It did take a bit to get set so it would lift at the end of the record but once set, it has operated perfectly. I just upgraded to an Acoustic Solid turntable model and purchased a 2nd AT6006R. The set up took about 5 minutes because what I learned setting up the first one. It works so well! I highly recommend it.

Klasse Support, klasse Tonarmheber!
