Why did you pick this product vs others?: I like this brand. Seems to help me after consistently taking it every day. The capsules are not a huge dose so you can gradually increase the number you take over time to reach the results you're looking for. Of course nothing works 100% for everyone but it does help me.

This product is amazing. I 100% recommend it for any man who may be having problems with their prostate due to it being enlarged. I am 66 years old and a diabetic with one kidney and a rare liver disease which will take my life. Whenever I went to the bathroom, especially at night when I felt as though I had to go quickly and a lot just to have problems getting started or stopping on and off and very weak stream. I have tried other products and nothing worked well at all. However, after reading reviews I decided I needed to try it. The best decision ever! After day two I was urinating like I did when I was 30 years old and my nighttime visits to the restroom dwindled down to maybe twice a night instead of six times and my sleep has been great. So, if you are having issues I urge you to buy this product bc you will not regret it at all. I know it’s something I’ll continue to take to keep everything working correctly.

For me personally, I have noticed a difference after a couple of weeks. I was waking up 3 times a night and after talking this for a few weeks I'm down to 2. So I'm pleased with the results. I was waking up every two hours and now my first wake up is about 3-4 hours. No side effects at all. I take one capsule in the evening with dinner.

Reliable sources online -- ConsumerLab and others -- have pointed out that Beta-sitosterol supplementation has two uses and with very different recommendations as to the issue of whether to take the capsules with or without food. Here is the answer: for cholesterol reduction, take with meals; for reduction of symptoms of enlarged prostate, take on an empty stomach - meaning about 2 hours before or after eating. I learned this important advisory information only after almost completing my first order of this product, taking the capsules with meals. So now I will purchase a second bottle of 90 capsules and follow the advice about taking the capsules on an empty stomach with the hope that the BPH symptom reduction is more effective than the meager results I've had so far.

Like other reviewers, I read about this product at the Consumer Labs site and decided to try it. I have used many different prostate-related herbal preparations and found most to be subjectively ineffective. This stuff, on the other hand, really seems to work -- especially in terms of getting through the night without having to get up. I have read different opinions as to whether beta sitosterol has a positive or negative effect on libido. In my case, the effect seems to be positive. I just ordered a second 90-capsule bottle. If I am still happy with the results after finishing that, I will upgrade to the larger quantity. I take one capsule a day about an hour before bed time and that seems to do the trick. You will see a lot of supplements on the market that blend a half dozen different ingredients (i.e., stinging nettle root, saw palmetto, pygeum root, etc.). Some also contain small amounts of beta sitosterol. I have tried a great many of these with zero result. The straight beta sitosterol in capsule form works best in my opinion. UPDATE: So after writing this glowing review, I decided to switch to a cheaper brand which claims to deliver more beta sitosterol (made by NOW). The NOW product had virtually no benefit for me whatsoever. I just switched back to Pure Encapsulations and got literally instant results on prostate symptoms. I am now a true believer (in addition to being an idiot for switching from something that worked) and I will stick with Pure Encapsulations beta sitosterol. Cannot recommend it highly enough. UPDATE 2: I now find that the optimal dosage for me is 3 capsules, for a total of 270 mg. beta sitosterol. I still take the capsules at night just before bed. This is the only product that has produced lasting results for me.

This product is a very effective aid in prostate health. My husband has been using this since he was advised to do so by our Naturopathic Physician. Great product!
