Metal case. Switch included on the 12VDC input cable. Limited functionality but good enough as a PoE switch with decent power.

Nice switch for the price. Only thing missing is being able to get SNMP data from it.

I like Zyxel's networking kit and run some of their GS1900 series switches too. I needed a small switch for an outbuilding that had outgrown its two cables and I needed PoE for a phone and cameras, so it was this or Tenda or Netgear. The Netgear cheapo PoE has no management capability at all and I'd like to be able to assign VLANs; the Tenda was more expensive than this, plus I know Zyxel. The management options available are just the very basics - simple VLANs, some QoS - and the GUI is a more funky look but totally different in structure from the much more complex UIs of the GS1900 series. It does the job, though :-) NB; port 5 is not PoE, only ports 1-4 have power. The power supply, as always with PoE, is a large-ish 'brick' with cables in and out; it's nearly as big as the switch! All set up in 10 minutes and ready to rock and roll. Hopefully this will give many years of good service.

This is a frustrating switch which comes with DHCP disables, no it won't check for DHCP or such, I had to manually connect to a PC to set management DHCP. Bloody rubbish crap.

If you want a simple desktop switch which can traverse VLAN tags, power PoE devices then this will see you through. However, for some reason it does have a very strange issue. If my computer is plugged directly into the switch, the switch will freeze, slights will blink once per second - and you'll get nothing out of it, until you unplug it and the switch reboots and returns to normal. If I go through another device however, speeds and switch performs normally. I've got a Intel(R) I211 Gigabit NIC.

Very easy to setup and manage, use zyxel all the time, never have problems
