Different story that may not cater to all, but beautifully woven together.
I am a big fan of Irrfan Khan. His screen presence and the way he delivers his lines , so natural and feels like you are part of the movie seeing him act. The lead actress did a great job as well. Loved how the characters are woven together and as a viewer felt so part of the community they displayed onscreen. I did not want to pause the movie for a second. May be I am biased towards Irrfan Khan, but loved it !

Quiet awakening of a woman to her own strengths
Love her. Love him. Two world class actors. Unusual premise. But intriguing. Had a conflict with the ending. There were threads I felt could have been resolved in better ways. Not my idea of an HEA. Still I've watched this film 3 times and will watch it again...in spite of it not being my kind of ending...so that's saying something.

Undeveloped characters
Sweet film, but undeveloped characters and relationships. She's Catholic and married and bored and taken for granted and then all of sudden and within a month she's lying, has an affair, is outspoken, and makes decisions for herself? In saying that, I love puzzles and the idea of them bringing two misunderstood and lonely people together. The affair didn't need to happen, it would've been better more focussed on the main character's self discovery without it.

Loved the topic
Really interesting movie, I thought. Good acting and character representations. Her personality development on screen was really good and such an unusual topic! Loved it.

Original, surprising story - beautifully told
Plenty of twists and turns in this surprising movie. An American story told in a French cinema way. Slow, subtle. Beautiful film making and acting. One I can see watching again and again.

Transformation of a woman but pacing is so slow at the start
I liked this story but the pacing was sooo slow. It’s about the transformation of Kelly Macdonald from a quiet and shy housewife into someone with an opinion who speaks her mind all due to making jigsaw puzzles. Yes that’s a crazy idea but it’s the charm of the film. The problem lays in how long it took to develop that plot. At the start everything just moved at a snails pace. Thankfully it picks up. There’s a sweet ending as well.

Pieces Left To Complete Us
Puzzle is one of those films that disarms you from the beginning. Kelly MacDonald is remarkable in thins film, she plays Agnes, a wife and mother. Always playing the old role of serving your man. She has never been happy, she knows no other life. Until one day she was given a puzzle, and found she was good at this.Agnes was given a thousand piece puzzle and put it together very quickly. Using her mathematical mind she opened a new world for herself. She found an ad for a puzzle partner, and she and her partner practice and go for the tournament of champions. Along the way Agnes finds a little bit of herself , and she moves toward some independence. Her children are supportive, and the film does not bring us down a tidy path. We are left to figure things out for ourselves.Recommended. prisrob 12-09-18

Lovely film
A lovely thoughtful film with no good guys or bad guys, amusing in places, beautifully acted by the wonderful Irrfan Khan ( who tragically died April 2020), Kelly MacDonald and David Denman.See also The Lunchbox and Life of Pi
