I had BLACK box dye in my hair. Went to a salon and got my hair fried off with black and lost a foot of hair. Had them dye it brown and it turned ORANGE after washing it. I was distraught and didn’t trust the hairdresser after losing a foot of hair. So I decided to dye my hair myself yet again with box dye to get back to my natural color. I went with this medium ash brown to cancel out the orange. It looks PERFECT. My hair feels healthy after drying it. This is as close to my natural hair color as it’s been in 7 years. Will continue to do my hair myself from now on. 🙏🏼

If you’re looking for the color on the box this isn’t the one for you. The color, for me, developed the same color as the before and after photo. That said, I didn’t have light brown hair, like shown in results example, so don’t use that image as a reference. My hair is/was a darker brownish with a bit of gray and some sweet white streaks (I dig the white but dark gray hair, imo, is yuck). So if the baa pic is what you’re looking for, and have medium to dark brown hair, then this shade is for you. It does seem to work on grays, however, it didn’t work as well on white hair. The conditioner that comes with it smells like cheap perfume. It’s horrible! Why do they even use chemical smells in an item that is meant to easy what the chemicals you just put in your hair did?

My hair turns red or orange with everything else. This is too dark, but the light ash brown is to light giving a reddish orange hue to my hair. I haven't found anything in between the light and the medium to use. I bought an ash mocha the other day to try after this one fades. I will do what I've read to do, and start using a clarifying shampoo after each application ... hopefully by the time that it works, my grey wont be back and it wont be time to color again. (and no I do not color my full head each time to cause the darkness - I only refresh color as the instruction say to do - the last 5 min. of processing time) my hair looks near black right now ... it usually fades though - this is nothing new, and I get some joy right before I have to do it again. Loreal please make a nice in between ash color- it would sell so well! Id be the first in line.

I bought this in Medium *ASH* BROWN. I hate RED "highlights" in my hair, and almost all of the "brown" colors in the different brands have at least a touch of RED in them, even if they have the word "ash" on the label, but THIS BRAND is the ONLY TRULY ASH BROWN that is TRULY "ASH" and has no red in it. If anything it has more gold highlights, but no red, and I like the gold, so I use this brand and this color exclusively now, because I like it, it leaves my hair shiny and well colored, and I have not been able to find any other brand that can match this - especially the TRUE ASH BROWN color. Re the "Scent" I don't even why they are asking for a comment on the scent - I will say that it does not overpower you with ammonia fumes, but other than that, I don't even notice a scent. Re "thickness" - I guess they are asking if it a really thin formula that drips all over you. NO! It is not that way. It is the perfect "thickness" and does a great job. Thank you L'Oreal!

I recently gave the L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference Fade-Defying + Shine Permanent Hair Color, shade 5A, multiple chances, experimenting with various quantities during separate attempts. Unfortunately, I'm quite disappointed that the color did not adhere well to my hair on any of the occasions. Despite my less-than-favorable experience with the color, I must admit that the redeeming factor of this product is the conditioner included in the kit. The conditioner worked wonders for my hair, leaving it noticeably smoother and more manageable. I find it hard to justify the price worthiness of this hair color, considering the lackluster results I encountered. While the conditioner is impressive, the main reason for purchasing this product was the color, which sadly didn't meet my expectations. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this particular shade from the L'Oreal Paris Superior Preference line based on my personal experience.

Review for 5A Medium Ash Brown. I finally found the perfect ash brown shade. It's beautifully cool-toned with no brassiness. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fully cover my stubborn greys. :( Kinda just tints them. The formula also has a pretty strong chemical smell. On me, the color only lasts about three weeks before I feel like I need to reapply. I’ll probably keep using it for now since finding a true ash shade that isn’t brassy is so hard, but I do wish the grey coverage and longevity were better.

Covered my disaster carrot highlights beautifully and left my hair soft and manageable. Unfortunately it faded after 2 washes so not worth it for the price. I've now discovered the products from esalon and they are the best.

I bought this shade because the reviews made it seem like it would give a cool brown result. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience at all. Even though I followed the instructions and paid a premium price, my hair turned noticeably warm with orange/red tones instead of a cool brown. I’m extremely disappointed and would not recommend this shade to anyone looking for a true cool-toned brown shade.

Fatal. Deja otro color, no cómo en la caja. No se parece nada.
