Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator Penetrating Stone & Tile Sealer, Quart

My project: Clean and seal a basement floor after the cats had decided the didn't want to use their litter pan. How much did I need? Approx two quarts for two coats over approx 700 square feet. In other words, 700 sq. ft. per quart. Does it work? Yes, so far. Water beads up beautifully on both the tile and grout that have been treated. It's only been a month so far. How easy was it? Application was easy, but not the cleaning. This is a penetrating sealer, so any stain you leave on the tile or grout will be permanently sealed in. I cleaned the floor by: 1. Spot-cleaning the worst spots (cat pee, yuck) 2. Scrubbing the entire floor by hand with a stiff brush 3. Used a copper wire brush to scrub off the top layer of the dirtiest grout 4. Wiped off excess soap 5. Mopped twice to ensure no soap residue that might interfere with adherence of the sealant Overkill? Maybe, but I wanted to do this right the first time. For 700 sq. ft., It probably took me 20-ish hours to clean, and only 5-10 to apply two coats. Cleaning was the vast majority of the work. The application process: Easy, but a bit tedious I have 12x12 tiles with approx. 1/4 inch grout. That's about 1,500 linear feet of grout (my best guess). Used a small children's paintbrush and carefully painted over all the grout. After each application, waited 5-8 minutes before wiping off. My tiles are completely matte limestone, and so easily soaked in any excess sealant left on the surface. I just had to buff the excess into the face of the tile, and it would soak in nicely. If I had glass or other glossy tiles, I might have had to wipe off 100% of the excess, which would be much more difficult. The Result: Dry to the touch in hours, started walking on it in a few days. Water beads up fantastically and wiping up is easy. The tiles have a *slightly* but barely noticeable increase in the glossy finish after having dried for a few days. The cats haven't peed on it yet, so I don't know how well it will truly work. Recommendations: 1. Ignore the square footage guidelines. What matters is how much *grout* you have, not how much *floor* you have. 2-inch tiles with 1/4 inch grout will need a massive amount of sealant. I had 12-inch tiles so didn't need as much. Make your best estimate and then test before buying what you think might be the right amount. 2. Test a small section first to see how much you need. My tiles and grout were very "thirsty" and soaked it all up easily. I put two coats everywhere, and a third coat on the most heavily trafficked section. Test your tiles first. 3. Use disposable equipment. Latex exam gloves, a plastic cup, cut-up T-shirts and a child's paintbrush were all the supplies I needed. This stuff needs mineral spirits to clean up, which is a major hassle. Disposable = no cleanup. 4. Knee pads! You will be kneeling on a stone floor for hours. Good luck.

This product works very well. As you would expect there is a strong smell so wear a mask and/or vent the area well. The first coat penetration was good. The second coat took less material and did not penetrate deeply. This showed that the first coat was working properly. After drying for 36 hours I tested it with water. The water beaded well. Product said it is good for 20 years but will regularly cleaning of our shower I found it better to reapply after a year.

I use this on a flagstone patio that I want to keep water from penetrating and damaging and staining the stone. This works better and lasts longer than the regular sealer from the same brand. This works well, absorbs quickly and lasts. Before I finished the sealant had already dried into the stone. You should still let it cure for 48 hours or so before stepping on it or getting the stone wet. It did not alter the color of the natural stone or anything like that, but I suggest testing in a small area before using. It keeps the patio looking nice, sealed from the elements and keeps stains and mold from penetrating. I will say this though, this does not go as far in terms of square footage as the claim on the bottle. It is dependent on the type of stone you are using as to well it absorbs into the stone. In my case, I ended up using 5 bottles for a 25 by 20 Flagstone patio. Other than being expensive for quart or gallon (and has gotten way more expensive in recent years), this does the job. 4 stars

I just bought a new house and need to seal our kitchen counter top. I bought a quart of 511 sealant and applied two layers of it in two days. Don’t follow the instruction of let sealant dry 3-5 minutes before whopping off the excesss. By the 1 minute mark, the sealant start to harden and the counter start to look cloudy. I made the mistake of following the instruction for the first 2 sections of the counter and it took a lot of time and elbow grease to remove the excessive hardened sealant after 3-5 minutes. I end up using the same technique as applying ceramic coating on cars. I apply a very thin layer of 511 on the counter using a separately purchased Miracle Sealant Applicator (about 2-3 tablespoons of 511 for a 10 ft section of countertop). Then immediately wipe off the excessive sealant with a new microfiber towel. And then continue to polish the counter for the next 7-8 minutes . At the beginning it is very smooth and easy polishing. But as time passes, it become pretty hard to move the microfiber towel over the counter top. . As I continue my polishing motion, it becomes much easier to move the microfiber towel after about 4-5 minutes of struggling against the hardened sealant and the counter turn from a cloudy look to a shiny surface. 511 works very similar to car ceramic coating product. If you done start wiping off the excessive sealant before it harden, it is very difficult to made your countertop shinny . And if you apply a lot of 511 in each pass, it becomes difficult to impossible to make your countertop shinny. It is much better to do multiple passes of 511 than trying to apply a lot 511 in your first pass. I really like the product. But it does not work like the traditional sealant where the sealant soak into the counter and fill the porous holes. . This 511 sealant seem to form a hard shell on top of the granite. The more you polish the 511 while it is forming the hard shell, the more shinny will the counter look. I like how my counter looks now. Tomorrow I will check to see if I need to apply a third coat of 511. I bought a quart of and I had about 80 linear ft worth of counter top including the center island and I have at least 1/2 a quart left after 2 coat (and I waste a lot of 511 in my first coat). You only need very little 511 on your counter top to protect it and make it shinny.

Cost half price compared yo home depot

Long-time user of this brand, but disappointed with this batch. The white grout turned grey after 3 days of curing. Hoping their water-based sealer will resolve the problem.

I recently purchased a home that had the bathroom and kitchen remodeled prior to my ownership. The previous owner did not leave any information about the upkeep of the bathroom tiles or the care for the kitchen counter. Then I found out the hard way that my shower tiles (and grout) need to be sealed occasionally. My shower water was leaking through the grout on the walls into my basement. Yikes! The 511 Impregnator Sealer was a real-life saver. Since I am a shower person, I had to clean (and dry) the tiles before sealing them. BEWARE: the sealant has a very strong odor. Be sure to wear a mask, gloves and safety goggles when applying. I used the bathroom fan and opened the window, closed the bathroom door and the smell still permeated the house. Aside from the smell, the 511 Impregnator Sealer worked wonders. My tiles look new again. It did not change the color but added a great shine and glow to them. Be sure to put an ample amount on the grout between the tiles as this is where most of the water leaks takes place. I bought an applicator, but the instructions suggest you can also use an old rag, which you will need to throw away when done. The smell lingers and is very pungent. I plan to seal my bathroom floor, as it's the same type of tile and grout. Along with my kitchen floor. The sealer is a great idea for the kitchen floor and counters since you don't want food or drink stains on either. I do not know how food friendly the sealer is, but I always use cutting boards for everything on my kitchen counter. I do not know how often this application will be needed in the shower, but time will tell, and I plan to keep 511 Impregnator Sealer on hand for the next application. Despite the strong odor I will use this product again.

My granite kitchen countertops were absorbing liquids and becoming stained sometimes. They have become 100% waterproof after using this product.

Very good product.Got this to seal my slate floor.Easy to apply very natural finish and stops the slate flaking.In the bath area applied on the granite floor it works as a sealant and gives a subtle roughness to the surface making it less slippery.

Honest review. Our bathroom fitter didn't seal our grout lines. Water was absorbing into the grout and leaking down back of bath. Bought some grout sealer from Topps tiles and applied 4 coats but water was still absorbing in. Searched for best grout sealers and came across this. Bit wary as it has a cancer and reproductive warning on the label and on Amazon description. I opened the windows and wore a face mask and latex gloves. Tipped some product out into an old double cream plastic pot and applied on the grout lines with a paintbrush. Left for 10 minutes and wiped off excess with kitchen towel. Reapplied another coat after 4 hours and left to dry for 36 hours. Used shower and the results were amazing. You can see the water beading up and running over and down the grout lines and tile faces. Absolutely amazing product. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wishes to seal their grout. Dearer than all the other ones but obviously you get what you pay for. The bottle will last a lifetime!!! No more leaks!!! Yay!!!

I used the spray but wasn't happy, so I bought the liquid and 2 coats later and 3 drying days great stuff.
