Very easy to used
Very easy to use my third time making a full basket of black garlic , my husband love to eat them . First time take me 5 days , second time in less than 4 days probably because I put fresh garlic from Gilroy the capitol of garlic . This itโs my third time with the same garlic so I will wait for seven days to see the difference between 4 and 7 days . Hopefully this will help you . Buyers donโt think itโs not going to work , it works great . I have it inside the house as well no bad smells .

Very disappointed, I don't recommend it
A friend gave me a lot of her black garlic, excellent, but a different fermenter. So I waited 4 months before to use mine :( . Wrong. Now I can't return the fermenter. I followed the limited instructions received. My garlic after 7 days, came out charcoal...... Now I want to clean under the lid where there are stains. They don't go away. Then they say to clean the condensation collector. Where is it and how do we take it out ?

It will make black garlic in 9 days. Taste will vary depending on the type of garlic
This is a very small garlic fermenter. I would be surprised if you got more than 5 pounds of garlic in it. This is so simple. You press the garlic function select the # of days you want. I think 9 days is the best. If you want the tastiest black garlic 14 days is good. What I found odd with this fermenter is 12 hours is one day for this fermenter. I put it for 2 days 48 hours, but It got done in 1 full day. It also has a separate button for drying. You want to do that for around 2 days. If your garlic turns out to be like charcoal do not throw it away. Grind that up and just use it like you would a seasoning. The first week it will smell bad, however if you leave it in a garage or shed it will be fine. Also I wrap it in cling wrap and aluminum foil. It does come with a copper container and a cage to hold the garlic.

Easy to use
My machine did not come with instructions, so I had to figure it out myself but it is pretty easy to use so would rather had them but it is ok.

Lots to learn
This product seems to work well but I never did figure out how to change the settings. The default setting is 9 days and that was way too long for my garlic. The instructions are very vague and seem to have been written by a person who didn't know English very well. My next batch will have to be turned off at about 7 days so I guess I'll just unplug it.

If you don't want garlic smell in your house, try this!
Works great! 7 days black garlic came out perfect. My husband made a makeshift insulated box with 2" foam sheets, lots of duck tape to hold the box together and placed the fermenter in it in our shed so we don't get the garlic smell throughout the house. Next round I bought 50 lbs of garlic from a local farmer cost me $100.00 well worth it they are beautiful large cloves and grown without pesticides. I use my Dewalt branch clipper to cut off the long stem so I can put more garlic standing up in the cage. Flash freeze the bulbs, put in vacuumed seal foodsaver bags and freeze. Last up to a year or more in your freezer. If your garlic is hard, don't waste, use a grinder to grind into a powder for cooking.

Just made our first batch and it came out perfect
This fermenter works great! Just finished our first batch of large bulbs and it took nine days. Tastes great! One warning, we had to put fermenter outside because of the very strong smell in the house, the smell of garlic will get into everything! If you are thinking of purchasing, works great but you better have a place to put it outside during the process.

No manual
The item works well but I was not given a manual to learn how to operate it. So I made several errors before figuring out how to ferment my garlic. They never responded to my request for a manualbto be sent.

It did the job.
I put heads of garlic in and took them out after 5 days after reading through the reviews. The cloves were small and I could probably have left them another day, but it was enough. They've turned into sweet, black garlic. I put it in our garden shed, which has a plug, and I could smell the garlic fermenting down the path at the side of the house on the first few days. I wonder if the neighbours noticed...

First try was huge failure
After reading online about the length of time it takes to make black garlic I tried 12 days using regular store bought garlic. This was a mistake. Charcoal. I have since found a YouTube video of a woman using the same pot with much larger bulbs than the ones I put in. Her's were done in 5 days. Seems very fast compared to the weeks described in other articles but I am game. Will go to the lowest setting of 6 days and monitor it closely this time. I suspect 4 days might be good but will have to see how this develops. Looking forward to my first success. Bonus is that my whole apartment smells of cooking garlic which I really like. Others might consider putting it in a ventilated small room if they don't want the smell spreading through their home.
