Youdepot Espresso Tamper 51mm, Stainless Steel

I think 51mm is a standard espresso cup size so should work for most people. Even if your cup is 53 mm this will still work. Like others said its a two piece stainless pieces held together by a hollow hex like threaded screw. This is probably the weak point in this item. Maybe i will try to find a solid brass or some other corrosion resistent screw. Not sure if this is a stainless screw as well, but sort of looked like a plain iron like metal. Overall quality is nice, even with that type of screw it does feel solid in the hand. Since it's stainless steel, its quite heavy. It unscrews easily and it was easy to put back together. I washed mine and its ready to go for tomorrows coffee. Should compress perfectly compared to my plastic damper i received with the espresso maker. 5 stars for now for great price. The stainless is totally smooth and does a good job of pressing it down.

People been writing mixed reviews about this thing.. So I want to clear it up. This thing is a two piece solid stainless tamper built like a Truck. IT MIGHT be chromed but I'm not damaging it to figure it out. ITs connected by a steel Allen set screw. It's not got a cover on it..Its solid stainless..Anyone who posted otherwise is wrong..And does not understand how things are made. Or manufactured.Its highly polished on the outside. But not polished where it screws together. So people looked inside and stated it's not stainless because it's a different color.. Well guess what, its supposed to be a different color.. That's what color stainless bar stock looks like . Its two piece because two sizes of bar stock have to be used during manufacturing. Or it would cost a lot more. The set screw was not tight and it could unscrew during shipping. Tighten it up and use it..If you want put some vegetable oil on it and screw it together. So it dont rust..If you really dont want it to come apart put some superglue on it or other glue or RTV and tighten it. Set screws are high strength and precision made. So you have to line up the threads correctly to get them started. ANYone who said they couldn't get it together does not know what they are doing. And should unscrew it and staRT over. I bought this for a Delonghia EC155 I modified .It fits great. And makes awesome esspresso.. I pack my pucks tight . And this works great. It's a solid chunk of metal Priced super nice..

Already had a coffee scoop / tamper device, bought this impulse, was I surprised. Perfect tool to get espresso ground coffee tight and compared into holder. Weight, size, design are perfect and does much better job than my scoop / tamper devise which is much lighter and therefore requires using using force which causes spills and often uneven compacting of ground coffee.

Great tamper for coffee, the weight is perfect and the quality is very good.

Love this heavy-weighted little tamper! I was using the one that came with my espresso machine before I got this one. This one is SO MUCH BETTER! You barely have to press the coffee with this because the weight does most of the work, and it feels really ergonomic in my hand. I’ve used it daily for a couple of weeks, and so far— so good.

Works perfectly. And it fits my DeLonghi EC155 porta-filter just right. its very, which is exactly what you want. Its also solid and attractive in design. I was really happy with it.

This is much heavier than I thought and was second guessing the purchase until I used it. It's perfect for a true espresso drinker. It flattens your grounds just as if a barista did it! Highly recommended if you have a grounds espresso maker.

I researched all kinds of tampers, but ultimately decided to go with the heaviest one I could find. This one has an iron core and comes in at 1.2 lbs (545 g) on my scale, so very little pressure is needed to arrive at the perfect tamp for my machine. I haven't determined yet whether the outside is actually stainless steel (as listed) or just chrome, but it wipes clean with little effort, so I feel little need to test that out. They could do a much better job of packaging for shipment, though. It arrived loose in a padded envelope. I later realized that there had actually been a small product box inside the envelope... which was flat as a pancake. They could have at least taped the box shut so the tamper wouldn't roll out during shipment. Overall, it's a great tamper. Just be careful not to let it roll off the counter, as it is a killer on the toes! LOL.

I had a hard time deciding on a tamper, but this one is so nice and heavy, it's just like the ones in cafes. I love it. Fits perfectly in my cheap-o breville cafe roma machine.

I think this item is a good deal as it looks good and appears to be well made. Very weighty and should work well.

The size is perfect for my espresso machine and the weight is great. I highly recommend this if looking for a tamper.

Love this tamper, solid metal build and cleans up real nice. Fits perfectly in my portafilter, no gaps.

This espresso tamper arrived in 3 pieces, out of the box and bag, loose in the bubble pouch. The first thing I noticed was the heavy solid feel weighing 523.54 grams, next I noticed what appears to be rust in the threaded assembly holes, I’m assuming moisture got in there at some point when it was assembled with the hex screw since this claims to be stainless steel. Both end surfaces are polished with minor machining marks and the rest of the surfaces have textured ridges from machining which I quite like, however all surfaces have dents and dings likely from banging together while I unassembled during shipping. Although that doesn’t bother me, as mentioned in other reviews as well, the surfaces are not perfect, something to take note of. The threaded hex screw had damage to the first thread though it still assembled no problem. My 5/32 Allen key was a close but not perfect fit, which I snuggled into the base of the tamper, and threaded the handle onto the base by hand. I may add some thread lock in the future if it comes loose and a bit of food grade grease between the base and handle to keep moisture out when washing. For anyone who might wonder, this is a perfect fit for my Cuisinart EM-100C machine.
