Fills up CO2 cartridges easily
I connected this fitting to my co2 tank that has a stem so it can disperse liquid in upright position. It had taken me a few minutes to adjust the end valve as I believe that is the regulator. At first the co2 went in to fast and the 2 way valve closed off the port. I started all over again by shutting everything off and removed and reinstalled the cartridge. With all the valves closed tightly I opened the tank valve about 1/4 of a turn. Then I opened the valve closer to the tank then I gradually opened which I believe is a regulator valve very slowly till I head a hissing noise. It had taken I minute to refill a frozen cartridge with liquid CO2. It was filled when the hissing stopped and pressure was equalized. When I started the frozen cartridge weighed 1 lb 3 oz when it was filled it weighed 2 lbs 4 oz which is the same weight on a full cartridge. This Valve really works just have to get use to adjustments after that it’s a quick easy process.

Defective product.
Defective. It doesn’t work. See other comments. No matter how slowly you open it it doesn’t fill the bottle.

hmmmm
well, i opened the package to two individual bubble packed parts with two small bagggies. one had a washer and 2 small small orings.also, was a set screw and an allen wrench.the other baggie had 2 plastic washers. the one thing thats missing is ANY kind of direction or instruction. i was able to figure out which ends went together by the photo in the description only.any body have any idea where the orings go? or what they do? this is a safety concern since i'm dealing with what i am assuming to be a pressured gas.this is what i DONT like about amazon. cant tell sometimes where the part is from. no indicator on the part so i can't look it up.i havent used it yet but i'll follow up on this later and perhaps change my rating.thanks to a fellow user i learned where the o rings go....thanks for that breauxREVISIONok, used it for the first time today and it worked flawlessly. its a well machined, as far as i can tell, piece of aluminum.. as far as stars go, i would change it to 5 star based on performance but 2 star for everything else.good luck

It works. It's great. But it's tricky
Oh my goodness, replacing and refilling Sodastream bottles are way too expensive and just not worth it.So get this thing and refill them yourself.I got my tank of CO2 from a local brewery supply. And I can get it refilled for $20. So far I have refilled 10 Sodastream bottles and still counting. As others have said, open the valve on the main tank very slowly. And I mean VERY SLOWLY.I almost gave up until I reread the reviews and tried it again. "VERY SLOWLY". Now I have refilled 7 CO2 bottles with no problems. As others have mentioned, it is true, and some of the Sodastream bottles have a tricky valve and if you try to input too much pressure, too fast, it will close internally, and you have to start over again. (Possibly their way of wanting you to buy more bottles? Or maybe a safety feature so you don't blow up the bottle under too much pressure.) Either way, it's tricky. My simple instructions?1. screw the adapter to the main tank.2. Screw the Sodastream bottle onto the adapter.3. Ever so slightly start to open up the main tank until you hear a hiss, then STOP and leave it alone and let it fill. Watch the gauges as they equalize. If it stops hissing, slightly open the main valve a hair more until you're done.* As others have also mentioned, I don't use the valve at the top of the Sodastream bottle, because once you start putting gas in, it allows it to flow into the bottle anyway. Some say to freeze the Sodastream bottles first. That does allow you to get more gas in the bottle. But I don't worry about it. I may not get as much out of them, but I can't see it being that big of a difference.

It really works!
Just refilled three 130L sodastream bottles for $12 vs $90 at regular sodastream prices.Tip 1. Use an accurate kitchen scale (preferably with 1g resolution) and weight the bottle before and after refilling. The empty weight is also stamped on the bottle. Do not overfill the stated net weight.Tip 2. To get to the 100% fill freeze the sodastream bottle first - then fill it - then freeze it again and do another top off. I got up to 106% of the stated net weight this way. If you fill it more then 100% then bleed the excess for safety.

It works, but there are definitely some gotchas
So. To start with. Ultimately, it worked. That's great. The downside is it doesn't exactly work as advertised, but with some fiddling you can get it done. The worst thing is that the main valve (on the piece that attaches to the tank) seems to become completely inoperable under pressure this rendering their instructions mostly useless. But all you have to do is leave that valve partially open all the time and you can make it work. For new soda stream bottles (with a 6mm broad button rather than a tiny sharp button) you have to start slow and then open up. With the broken valve you need to do that with the valve on your tank. Just hook the adaptor to the tank, hook the soda stream bottle to the adaptor, tighten down the valve that opens the soda stream bottle and then just barely crack the tank valve. You'll hear a quiet stream of liquid going into the bottle. Then after about ten seconds you can open it up to accelerate the process. If you open too fast it'll just stop and you won't hear anything. Close everything up, vent the pressure and try again. The colder your bottle the more it'll fill. With a bottle fresh from the freezer I got about half of the tank's rated capacity. No big deal, just takes a few seconds to refill, but be aware. So yeah. It works, but there are some pitfalls. Work through them and you'll be rewarded with cheap fizzy water
