Great for the Price
Let's face it - the world of digital cameras is so dizzying and complex these days that you are most people are never sure of what, exactly, they are getting. What I wanted was a small, easy-to-use, non-comlex point and shoot that my son 9-year old son could use so he would stop using my camera. The C180 delivers on that and more. Physically, it's perfect to slip in an adult's pocket or for a kid's hands. Nothing fancy; quite boxish-looking at that. Good screen and no optical view finder, but again, we are looking for simple. Buttons are easy to use and well arranged. All-in-all, a good sturdy feel to this camera. But what really sets the C180 apart is that it takes great pictures. I caught a shot of my son in mid-air on his skateboard and it's perfect. I was surprised that a low-end camera would capture such a shot, and the colors are really vivid. I would probably recommend rechargeable batteries, though. The bottom line is that my son was taking shots within a minute of getting it out of the box, and the pictures are really quite good. For me, now when I do things where I might be worried about camera safety, the C180 gets the call instead of my camera. Cheap, easy to use, great shots, and I'm not going to be too upset if it gets broken. Really can't get much better than that!

It goes with the price tag
This is my first review on Amazon.com Yeah! I'm happy because I read reviews ALL the time. Actualy I read the reviews BEFORE buying this camera and I was under a different impression. Basically I've just got off the phone with a Kodak representative because last night I was using my camera in a low light environment and I realized how "cheap" everything looked. The flash barely helped since it was a big room and my pictures from 6 feet of distance were poor and dark. I would have to be VERY close for the flash to actualy do it's job. Also a feature that most cameras nowadays have is the one where you softly press the shutter button and I will give you a red light to point BEFORE the flash. I thought this camera had but it doesn't. If you are in low light setting (let's say... birthday party) you're on your own and you would have to guess what are you shooting. Quite a bummer to be honest. Overall the pictures outside are good, but indoors and low light are not. Now I know (from Kodak website) that I have to adjust the iso thingy. But still the fact that it will be dark until the flash comes on downgrades the camera BIG time for me. I would think twice now before buying a camera online before seeing it first on a store. Overall I paid under $100 for it, I wasn't expecting much. And so should you.

Great Buy for Valentines day!!!!! Well worth the money.
I bought this camera as a last minute impulse buy for my boyfriend for Valentines day. I ordered it on Friday evening and paid the extra for next day shipping. It got to my house about 5pm the next day. I was so excited. I read EVERY review of this camera on here. I was a little worried about the battery life so I bought a ton of batteries just in case. The picture quality is amazing, The features are very fun and very simple to use. The batteries that came with it only lasted about 2 hours. I put fresh Energizer brand batteries in and I was very surprised at how long they lasted. We took several videos at least 3 minutes long or longer and about 60 pictures and they still had about a 1/4 of a charge left. The only thing I agree with everyone on is the lack of an external speaker for the videos is a bummer. My boyfriend who worked in photography for many years loves it. He plays with it all the time just for fun. The only tip I have is don't use the cord that comes with the camera to download the pictures. Simply remove the card and download directly off the card to your computer. It will save on your batteries and it cuts the download time in half or more. Im not overly excited about the Kodak software, as I have used it I am getting better at it but I still don't think it is very user friendly. I would recommend this camera to anyone just wanting to document some fun times and memories with friends. It is a GREAT point and click.

Nice general purpose camera
This camera is great for those of us who are not very technologically inclined. I gave the Easyshare as a Valentine's Day gift for my fiance. He (and I!) has had a lot of fun taking pictures using the different settings, which is my favorite part of the camera. For example, "up close" is for extreme close ups without blurriness, "sport" for fast movement capture and "backlight" for backlit pictures. The night settings are great, like "extreme low light", "night landscape", and "night portrait". It even has individual settings for capturing fireworks, sunsets, sunny beaches and flowers.... interesting. Truth be told I've never owned a digital camera before, so I'm sure there are better quality cameras out there. But for our general use needs and for the price it's great. Its a decent size overall and the picture display is easy to see. The EasyShare software is simple to use to edit pics as well as make cards and other picture items. I haven't tried the "share" function yet for uploading to youtube, but I'll try it when I've taken some video clips on the camera. Overall the Kodak EasyShare is a good general use camera with a nice amount of bells and whistles. Its a great value for the price. ::UPDATE:: If you buy this camera, get rechargeable batteries, because the camera sucks the power dry within an hour or so of use.

Great little point & shoot!
I got this camera at a great price during the holidays, and finally had a chance to give it a real road test when I spent the day at a State Park. The sun was so bright with no shade that I couldn't see a thing out of the preview screen (yes this was annoying but I've noticed that even a lot of more expensive digitals don't have separate view screens these days), and the wind was fairly strong so I know that many times I wasn't able to hold the camera very steady. So basically I was taking photos blind and shaky especially toward the end when I stopped even trying -- yet out of fifty shots I took only *one* was in need of deleting (it was an indoor shot where I manually turned the flash off and didn't have a steady enough grip to prevent blurring the first time, I retook and 2nd one came out fine). I was very impressed, great shots for little effort. Even without using the setting for reducing blur from camera shake they were all crisp and clear. It did go through batteries fast at first, but having read the reviews here I bought the lithium and they are still going strong after the whole day. I recommend setting the camera for auto shut off at three minutes, and using a card reader not the camera to transfer photos to your PC; you can also set the screen brightness to power save, all these things will help extend battery life. I specifically made sure I bought a camera that took regular batteries, so I could take pictures anywhere, any time, and not be stuck on a trip with the inconvenience of needing recharge time. For a point and shoot, this is an excellent camera at an excellent price. If you want to take "photographs" instead of snapshots, you'll probably want to get a DSLR.

Out of the box bad
I bought a Kodak Easyshare C180 camera as a Christmas gift for my granddaughter and was "out of the box bad". Put the Kodak Alkaline batteries in it that came with the camera, took about three pictures and the batteries were bad. We replaced the batteries with new Duracell Alkaline batteries, took a few more pictures and the new batteries were bad. Tried this a few more times in denial that a brand new Kodak camera would be bad. Contacted Kodak and was instructed to send the camera to their repair center in Conneticut and it could be repaired or be replaced with a refurbished one. The repair service sent the camera back and it was just as bad as when I sent it. The repair service told me it was because I used alkaline batteries and I should buy rechargeable batteries and a charger. Why would Kodak send the camera with alkaline batteries if they didn't work? Kodak's website indicated if you use alkaline batteries you should get between 30-70 pictures, and of course we got no where near that, maybe 5 at the most. Even if the camera was not in use, it was draining the batteries. It is obvious that the camera is drawing more current than the batteries can hold. The repair center told me to basically live with the problem. After indicating the world was going to come to an end for their reputation by way of the internet, they called back to say they would send me rechargeable batteries and a charger and if that didn't work, to call them back. I most likely will be calling back. So I have paid for brand new batteries that lasted no more than five minutes to test the camera, UPS charges to return the camera and am no closer to solving the problem. Today I am going out to buy a Sony camera because I think my graddaughter has waited long enough for her Christmas gift. I would strongly suggest anyone considering buying this camera to reconsider.

Easy Entry-Level Camera
This camera is incredibly easy to use, but offers enough advanced features for the average point-and-shoot user. I bought the camera for my older parents who needed a simple camera. I was choosing between the Kodak M1033 and this camera, but decided to go with this camera because it is slightly easier to use. Kodak describes the C series as a line of easy entry-level cameras, and that's definitely true. PROS: - Easy for first-time digital camera users - Large LCD screen - Large amount of megapixels - Many "scene" settings pre-programmed for different types of shots - Very low price - Compact size - Plug and play sharing via EasyShare CONS: - No viewfinder - M1033 has a couple extra features (i.e., panoramic stitching) - Uses AA batteries vs. charger (although this is mitigated by a good set of rechargeable batteries Buy this camera if you're looking for an affordable, compact, easy to use camera. It will meet the needs of most point-and-shoot users. Do not buy this camera if you're looking to customize your shots beyond pre-programmed settings (i.e., adjustments in ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, etc.), but that should be self-evident, as this is a point-and-shoot.

Pretty Awful
This was my first digital camera that I could call my own. My older brother was kind enough to buy me a camera at all so I looked for one that was fairly low in price and still seemed to be good quality. When I received it it seemed to work just fine. I was disappointed that it did NOT have a rechargeable battery. After about ten minutes playing with it, it quit working. I've had this camera almost a year now and haven't had much trouble with batteries after I bought the rechargeable ones but there are other problems. The camera will freeze, randomly, and won't turn on, nor off. Some times the camera won't turn on even if I press the power button. The picture quality is okay I suppose but I have not other cameras to compare it to. Pros: -Cheap -Fairly Good Quality Pictures Cons: -Craptastic Battery Life -Many Problems With the Power Buttons -Even when video is taken, you can't listen to the audio. You have to copy it to your computer first. -Pictures/Video's don't always copy, no matter what you do. I had to delete my entire band concert off my camera because it wouldn't copy. I was very, very angry.

It took a very pictures and stopped working completely...the fact that it was a damaged package may have been the reason that it did not work for me at all.
