Around the same time I ordered this, I also bought a book about dehydrating food. My husband found a recipe for making jerky in the dehydrator and that was it. He's made three batches of Jerky and I have yet to use it. He absolutely loves it! It's very easy to use and clean up so easily. Now, If i can just use it to make the grandchildren's gummy bears.....

Bought this in March. Loved this product. Easy to use. Easy clean up. It held a large amount of meat for jerky. The reason for the 1 star is it has already stopped heating and just blows air. I only used it 5 times. I was very disappointed. I could have used my money to buy packaged jerky

Machine comes with 5 plastic trays; trays can be stacked to decrease or increase space between food slices. Blower is located on the bottom of the device so in order to get an even dry you need to keep rotating trays from bottom to top and back again, hence why I gave it only 3 stars. Owners manual doesn't give much information. Drying times in the owners manual are a little odd, for example it note drying apple slices could take anywhere from 8-38 hours. Most of what I dried from day one of purchase was pineapple, plums, tomatoes, mushrooms, mangos, beef jerky, and onions; most took only 9 hours to dry; pineapple and tomatoes took 15 hours to dry. Now wondering what my next electric bill will look like - dried food cheaper to purchase or dehydrate?

It worked fantastic the first month I had it but after that, the left side stopped working properly. It doesn't distribute heat the way it used to so I just use it to dry herbs now.

I sent this product back. I am very new to dehydrating and really need an instruction booklet to "hold me by the hand" and spell out how to use this product. It does not. I know I could go online and check things out but why should I have to do that? Also, the instructions online might not pertain to this particular dehydrator. I'm not sure who wrote the manual but the phrase, "...it is forbidden..." appeared several times. This dehydrator was rated very highly and I'm not one to discount those. Perhaps the people who rated it are familiar with how to dry foods. I am not. I'll keep looking.

I bought this to make chicken jerky for my dogs. It's a lot cheaper and healthier than buying in the store. Works great!

I was given this a a gift to replace my Nesco which finally gave up the ghost after many years of weekly use. I wanted a square dehydrator as a replacement for more efficient rack space. This unit lasted a total of 2 hours before I was greeted with the smell of hot electronics and burning plastic. Oh, well. Back to Amazon with it and the search continues.
