Great tool
An excellent software tool for working with pitch. The "Essential" version is a solid starting point for folks who don't want to spend too much money all at once on a new piece of software.

Mediocre recordings become excellent
I have since updated to Melodyne editor, which has some incredible features (pitch drift correction is my favorite!), but Melodyne Essential was a great product for my basic correction needs. Here's what it can and can't do:- It CAN put a mediocre voice in better tune and still sound natural if they are at most about major second away from the target note.- It CANNOT make a bad singer sound good, but they will sound in tune. At best, it will be bearable to listen. (NOTE: This version does not have the "formant tool" that enables you to change the timbre to make it sound natural after change the pitch. Get Melodyne Editor if you are working with someone who just cannot sing in tune.)- PERFECT for touching up a vocal track in which the singer occasionally goes ever so slightly sharp or flat. Turns a great singer into an amazing singer. Wow, what a perfect vocal take!- It takes a long time, but you CAN use it to put recorded drums, guitar, or bass perfectly in time with a metronome. (I recommend percussive mode for this). I have done this many times. You can now take up less time recording mediocre musicians who make a lot of rhythmic errors in the studio. Assuming the chords are recorded correctly, you can just fix up the "good enough" track later. ;)- If they are REALLY FAR off, it can sometimes distort the sound if you try to correct it. You cannot make a bad musician sound good, but you can make a good musician sound great!- You CAN edit notes (obviously) for instruments: single-note guitar solos, as well as basslines, if you are a control freak like me.- You CANNOT change/remove the notes in a chord, or remove individual hits from a drum kit. You need Melodyne Editor for that!If you do home recordings, and aim to make them sound a little better without having to record 1,000 takes, get Melodyne Essential. It's 150% worth the money. If you are a music producer or a control freak get Melodyne Editor! Great program. It can be a little buggy when used as a DAW plug-in, but there are ways around it!

One Star
Would not load on any of my computers. Celemony was no help. I spent the money for nothing.

really cool software
It's very easy to use. Essential will auto-tune and create perfect timing in your song automatically and you can posthuously tweak it to your heart's content.. This is a great tool for making the weaknesses in your vocals strong and perfect as wel as your instrumentations. The only draw back is that with Essential it has to be done one track at a time, I record everything on a different track so that is no big problem. And you can always upgrade Essential to multi-track software for a reasonable price. Very impressive.

A little confusing
I'm still not sure I'm using it right. I keep getting updates to get the pro version. I spent a lot of money on this and I'm hearing it's not a pro version?? I used to use WavePad Sound Editor to create not my own songs but cover songs and I'm still not sure I know how to use this although the tutorials on YouTube seemed pretty helpful.

Little Tools
Its great, but its Essential... so they are several tools that are not inclueded in this package, like controlling the vibratos of the voices individually. If you can, get the editor, if you dont need to do that much editing, get Essential

Easy to use
Inexpensive, easy to use and easy to upgrade. The stand alone does not work on my Windows 7 64 bit however it works great as a plug in which is fine for me.

Great for the price
If you go to the Celemony website you can download a trial version of this software to see if it does what you want. The 'Essential' version doesn't give you all of the bells and whistles that the other versions do but for simple pitch correction (which is 99% of what I need) it does a great job, and sounds better than anything else I've ever used. It works directly in your DAW, which is a really nice feature as well. Please try the free trial if you are curious.
