An excellent option for Islay fans
Im a self confessed whisky snob. I know what I like and it’s almost exclusively Islay single malts full of peat. My goto being Ardbeg Ten. However that’s £50 bottle and the reviews of this blended whisky said not to overlook it! Wow! I’m glad I didn’t! It’s become my goto everyday tipple due to its quality. It’s half the price, but it’s about 80% as good!Peaty like a Laphroig, fiery like a talisker, smooth like a blended whisky, with a touch of sweetness like a sherry cask Glen Morangie. It’s not going to replace your £50+ single malt, but for £20 a bottle it’s simply excellent!

It is far better than it's price would suggest.
I have watched Black Bottle whisky for years in it's old green coloured bottle and have said to myself, "I will buy it when they put it in a black bottle" . Now that it is actually in a black glass bottle, I have bought it and I am so please that I did. Whisky is very much down to personal taste and Black Bottle whisky is well worth a try, I like it so much, I immediately bought another bottle as soon as I tried it. I shall certainly will buy more as and when I need it. To me it is somewhat superior to many of the other brands that I have bought.

A pleasant dram.
A good value and really pleasant dram. Sweet smoke with notes of honey, oak and a hint of fruit and oak. Good body so lovely mouthcoating mouthfeel no need to add water but drink it how you like it. I would say a nice winter dram, give it a try it's recommended.

A lovely dram than doesn't empty the wallet
I like my whisky and I'll pay for a bottle I like. I have a price range though and in these times some of my tipples have jumped by 10-20 pounds. So for a little bit I looked for alternative. This came up. Yes it's a blend and yes it's not the smoothest. But for the price it's streaks ahead of the competition. So price wise this is £15. Taste wise I would put it at £20. So this really isn't a celebration drink or one to gather your friends round and show off. This is your little drink on a Friday. This is your mixer drink when the Mrs wants a cocktail. And it's not the usual suspects that would strip varinish.Taste wise hint of Smokey and slightly on the young side. Still has the fire and pepper. At this price it's worth a shot

On my 5th bottle since lockdown started - great casual dram
To start off, I'm usually a fan of single malts in the £40+ range for the odd tipple here and there, for instance a macallan 15, dalwinnie or a laphroig as examples. But when lockdown started, I realised I was going through bottles of the more expensive stuff at light speed and it was costing a fortune to replace it all. So I started looking for a more casual dram that doesn't make me feel guilty if I have a few doubles in an evening. I turned to old familiar JW black (never lets me down) and it was going well as my new casual weekday drink until I found this for a tenner cheaper with great reviews - so I thought hey I'll give it a try. The Conclusion - it's no JW black, but for the price point it is a really, really, nice whiskey. I drink it straight or on the rocks and it's smooth, with no harsh tones and is easily the best value for money bottle I've found in recent times. On my palette I get a little smoke, some sweet fruit and vanilla. Highly recommended as a casual whiskey! Helps save the good stuff for when we're allowed to have dinner parties again...

Its cheap scotch that doesn't burn your throat - so ok - ish
Good price but taste is unremarkable.Black bottle should at least feature a clear vertical strip so you know how much is still in there.

The old style
This is a wonderfully old fashioned tasting scotch, such as I remember when the world was very young, Pontius was still doing his flying training and men carried black twist and a penknife in their pockets. Amazon have the best price in the kingdom, too. Does anyone know where to find Red Hackle?
