The outlet pipe froze solid and I was worried the pump trying to pump though a blocked pipe would knaker it - but no - its still going.\nReview: I had previously purchased a pump from another manufacture which was useless as pump and I had returned it. I was drawn to this pump as an alternative replacement, because of the built in float/sensor switch. There are two options for taking the outlet pipe from the pump, straight and right-angle which makes it very versatile. There is a none return value in the outlet, that you can take out to clean, ideal for dirty water pumping. I did give up on my lay flat discharge hose and used a 32mm ridged hose instead. The pump dose work fine with both but the lay flat hose would kink every now and then stopping the flow, which is not ideal for unattended pumping. We wanted to pump the water out of a French drain we were putting into the trench of foundations for out extension while we are digging. The trench bottom is about 50mm below the current water table. We put a chamber (inspection chamber riser) in 200mm below the trench level. Put Geocloth at the bottom and then 50mm of gravel which the inspection chamber sat on top of. Back filled the hole on the outside of the chamber riser higher than the trench level with gravel. We then dug the foundation trench with a very tiny slope towards the chamber. The result is the trench is dry with water running down to the chamber. When the chamber fills up, the pumps built-in switch turn the pump on. The result is a dry trench below the water table. Back filled the hole on the outside of the chamber riser higher than the trench level with gravel. We then dug the foundation trench with a very tiny slope towards the chamber. The result is the trench is dry with water running down to the chamber. When the chamber fills up, the pumps built-in switch turn the pump on. The result is a dry trench below the water table. I only used the brown and blue wires only very simple to connect as the photo shows in the add, the two black wires I taped up individually and taped back along the side of the power wire. Also place the pump higher than the collection tank by one foot. I also bought 10 feet of of hose to pump the water out. The size of the hose I bought is 3/8 od x 1/4 id it works perfectly. Pipes froze, busted, and flooded homes, car pile ups in the city, some people literally froze to death and some are still picking up the pieces. I'm one of the latter. Our septic system froze and I still haven't gotten it going. It is a 4 tank 2000 gallon system, Aerobic System. The pump is out, no plumbers are available and the local supply of plumbing parts has been decimated. Our system was full, from flushing water lines, not realizing it was not on and filling up. I needed a sub pump to empty the system from the gray water tank. (for those that don't know, this is chlorine treated waste water, no solids but there is small sediment.) There were no dirty water pumps to be found and they were $160 dollars at the low end. I searched desertcart as a shot in the dark, hoping a Prime item could get here quickly. I gave this little $20 pump a shot. It ran like a champ, pumping out the system over several hours. It still works perfectly. I'm using it to keep my household operating, until a plumber can get to me and get a new pump ordered. You'll see in the picture I zip tied a piece of mesh tightly to the bottom, just in case anything substantial was in that water. I connected a cable to the handle to pull it up. I sent it down to where I had no idea what was below and it just keeps pumping! Whenever I need to clear the system after laundry, dishes or baths, I just plug it in. It is still sitting down in the abyss. It has saved us, because there are no close-by laundry mats or bathrooms to run to in rural America. This Little Green Machine is doing the job of pumps 5X its size and 10X it's price range, effortlessly. I don't know how long it will last, but a week would be worth the money and we are starting week 2.
