Amazing!
Halfway through and wanted to get some thoughts down. Yes, true to form, this book is very free flowing and easy to immerse yourself into. Our characters are a fairy and a cursed dragon. They may or may not be mates at this point but their journey is interesting so far. I am enjoying the somewhat subdued snarky humor. Also like that both main characters are not constantly fighting a primal mating call yet either. It's refreshing. Now onto the second half, can you say EPIC! I should not have been surprised! One again, this author hit this one out the ballpark! I was totally right in the battle scene, and loved every minute of it. Ms. Vale has another winner here, and I happily recommend this to fellow PNR readers!

An Awesome Beginning
Wow I just finished reading this and a whole new world opened up for me that I want to know more about. This is a fantasy set in a modern setting. Supernaturals are a part of this world but like these modern times there is a prejudiced feel to it as the phrase "to each his own" takes on a new meaning for me as I never really separated people into colors and races like so many are doing with "police lives matter" "black lives matter" and that ilk as we were all created by something bigger and better than ourselves whether we have two feet or four. ***Remember this is my opinions and the emotions that were invoked on reading this amazing story.Darius is a dragon shifter who has been cursed by a former lover for wrong doing to her he has lost his wings until he selflessly gives of himself to another. He is hunkering down in a cave enjoying some downtime away from his job in the security services. Kaye is a fae who enjoys the human world so much that she became a psychologist. However every so often she needs down time with her sisters and every year they come to the mountain side and ward it so that they can let their fae sides out. After a night spent drinking fairy wine she is drawn outdoors until she discovers Darius in a cave. After some serious necking the two go their separate ways with the implication that they will see each other soon well it doesn't happen in the time that Kaye thought it should so her feelings are seriously hurt when he shows up outside the clinic's doors stating he feels she is in danger and wants to protect her. What follows is the most epic story of learning about each other and being drawn into a war that gives Kaye her brother back and a look into her birth that she wasn't prepared for.Ms. Vale really tugs you in and grabs you at "the feels" if you know what I mean. I highly recommend it to all my shifter loving friends out there. I hope in book two we get to see more of Kaye, Darius and in the infamous Z Kaye's brother Zayne.

The Beginning
You think you are one person all your life, only to find out it was all a lie. No wonder she wasn't thin and gorgeous like the other fairy sisters, no wonder they always made wisecracks about her. They knew all along that she was different, but no one ever bothered to tell her, not even her dear brother who took off when she was a teenager with no explanation. Why does the most powerful warlock want her dead, is it really because she is a shifter sympathizer, or is it because of who she really is? Dragon shifter Darius is too hell bent on protecting her and what girl wouldn't want a hunk like that watching over her, but Kaye also needs to know what all the mystery about her is and so begins her journey into a new world of mystery, magic and suspense. One she never thought she would be a big part of, being the first of her kind.

urban fantasy meets paranormal romance and attempted genocide
I enjoyed this a lot. Kaye is spunky with more bark than bite. Don't get me wrong she has plenty of bite as well but well her threats are sometimes more than she can deliver. Though hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is demonstrated many times in this book by many females. I kind of like that about it. Even the alpha males don't get to push the females in this book around. I also love when Darius is in dragon form acting kind of like a sarcastic puppy. Z seems kind of thrown in for good measure but in a way that seems like we get more from that angle later in the series. The plot was an interesting mix of urban fantasy meets paranormal romance. I can only hope that fae clairvoyance is accurate so the pretty picture Kaye has in her head comes to pass.

Magic Fire
Magic Fire by Catherine Vale Kaye is one of the Faye and lives her life in the human realm helping people solve their problems. In her private life, she shares with her Faye friends and looks forward to their yearly retreat. Just by chance she meets a dragon shifter hiding away in a cave by the retreat and this sets in motion a lot of things that she never expected. This story is a fast-paced adventure with a strong female character. There is lots of Faye magic, a possible love interest that is from the dragon realm and secrets are going to be uncovered that will change her life forever. I just couldn’t put it down.
