Power external drives with your power supply
Used this to power an external drive adapter so I can still use my dvd burner on a new pc case since they no longer have bays for them. Drive adapter came with a normal plug for power but wanted it to not constantly be powered when the pc was off. This worked perfectly for what I wanted to do.
