Not the color I wanted, but hey, 👍

I used L'oreal Paris Superior Preference 8s Soft Silver Blonde, in April after much online research regarding this color. My hair is naturally a medium golden blonde with some natural pale blonde streaks here and there. However, it was turning silver mostly in the front due to my age. For ten years, my colorist had been putting in three shades of blonde highlights to disguise the silver, but since I retired, my finances did not allow the $120. q6wks touch ups. For five months, I let my hair go silver before deciding to attempt to color my hair. Because my hair had medium gold blonde, light gold blonde and pale neutral blonde highlights, I knew that I had to remove all traces of dye from my hair to achieve the color on the box. Color will not lift artificial color. I used a Pravana product that effectively removed all artificial color without changing my natural color then Olaplex 2 to recover from the harsh clarifying shampoo included in the kit. After three days, I did a Brazilian Blow Out mask. A week after removing the artificial color from my hair and conditioning, I felt ready to dye my hair. I've read reviews that poo poo the bowl and brush method, but realistically, one must saturate every strand evenly with color to avoid patchy, uneven results. My 13 y/o granddaughter, whom has never colored hair, volunteered to apply the color. After pouring the mixture into a ceramic bowl and separating my waist length hair into four quadrants, she applied the color to thin sections beginning at the bottom on of the back left section because my hair is darkest there and this product will lift natural hair color three shades. (Needed the golden blonde hair toned to ash blonde). I required two boxes because of the length of my hair. There is a strong ammonia odor which I'm unaccustomed to and the mixture is a bit drippy. Other than that, my granddaughter said she enjoyed the process. I left the product on my hair for 45 minutes, added a bit of water to form a lather then rinsed, rinsed, rinsed in the shower. I used the conditioner included in the kit and blew my hair dry. My granddaughter and I marveled at the close match to the color on the box. My naturally darker hair was similar to the bottom example and so on. My hair had a slight lavender cast that my granddaughter pronounced "cool." Although I waited three days to wash my hair to allow the color to set, we were actually disappointed that the lavender faded and disappeared by the third wash. I use a sulfate free shampoo for colored hair and keratin conditioner mid length to ends each wash and deep condition with Brazilian Blow Out twice a month. I am delighted with the color! My silver hair blends beautifully with the sandy, ashy tones of the rest of my hair. I'll use this again to refresh the color when needed.

Love the color, but, it a bit blue/lavender in color. I had blonde (light) with grey roots. I wanted to blend the roots with a color so that I could let my grey hair grow out. This color is perfect for this or nice surprise - very pretty on it's own. Easy to use. I strongly recommend though if hoping to blend in with grey hair, first for light blondes - only leave the color on for 5-10 minutes or it will get very dark. Seems like a waste, but it looks great once you are finished. I find the best result is if you have blonde hair with highlights. The color works out faintly varied grey and is quite stunning. I will use it again. Loreal is great for not destroying your hair so that you can do it over again if you don't like it in a couple of days. Lightens a bit with each washing, so expect to re-apply in a few weeks. It actually makes me look younger than the blonde hair because it does have a bit of a hue to it which is very fashionable. these days and why not? We don't have to look old. I think I am going to continue to love this product and hope you do too, just remember do not leave it on as long as the directions say because it takes on blonde hair very very quickly. Good times.

If you're going from blonde to this, it will look a little green/grey. I wasn't happy with it and dyed it back to blonde.

This is a great color. Looks exactly as shown in the picture on the box. Of course, L'Oreal always has a good product.

Part of my hair (the back part), was much darker than the picture. The front part, including the bangs, were more of a blonde than a light gray. A two-tone presentation is okay for some things, like cars from the 1950s or sixties, but NOT for my hair! Color me very dissatisfied.

Très belle couleur (blond moyen argenté), mais la couleur pâlie beaucoup à chaque lavage. Malgré ça. J'aime bien et j'en commande régulièrement.

I loved the result of my hair color but remember that to get the ash tone we must bleach the hair to have a result like mine, thanks to this wonderful dye.

I had my reservations about using a box dye, but had pretty good luck with this one. What made me rate it four out of five stars is that, as you can see from my photo, it dyes a much darker, flatter silver grey than what you see on the box. After only one shampoo though, you can see that it starts to fade nicely. Make sure you apply this to hair that’s lightened evenly and use the whole bottle. My hair was slightly damp when I applied it and I combed it through as I applied. My hair was just about shoulder length and there was just enough dye to completely saturate it fully, so if you have longer hair, buy two boxes.

My hair is a light yellow to begin with, I bleach it from black and the final colour is so beautiful, light grey with a slight touch of purple. I can say this is the most beautiful grey tone that I got so far among many grey dye colour tubes and brands. But. The smell is too much, my scalp was really hurt while I applied the dye colour and I barely opened my eyes since tears came out. One more thing, don't do it in a small room, I couldn't breathe since the smell hurt my nose, let’s open the door and find a good ventilation space. Summary, I may not try this one the next time, because I did it alone, how come I finished them while I barely open my eyes, not to mention the colour absorbed super fast after 10 minutes I tried to apply to the top part but the bottom part already became black 🤣. So, get someone to help you if you want it to blend well.
