Hypafix® Gentle Touch - Soft Silicone Retention Tape for Extremely Fragile and Sensitive Skin (6" X 5 1/2 yd roll)

Our old Leonberger (big dog) got a very deep ulcerous sore on his left hip. It is a very difficult place to put a bandage and have it stay. A Leonberger’s normal weight is 120 to 170 pounds and they’ve got big hips. The veterinarian put a Telfa pad with an Adaptic pad underneath, alternatively a gauze pad over the sore. They also put Manuka honey or QuickDerm on the pads. Then they covered it all with the Hypafix Retention Tape. The Hypafix Retention Tape kept everything in place. The adhesion is pretty strong. They showed us how to do it and we were the ones who changed it most of the time. That’s why we bought the The Hypafix Retention Tape from Amazon. I should add they also shaved off the hair so that the Hypafix Retention Tape would stay better. It worked well until the hair had grown back out, but at that point the sore had healed.The Hypafix Tape was very easy to put on, it was sturdy and as long as the hair was not thick it stayed on well. As with any kind of tape you had watch so it doesn’t fold in on itself before you get it on. Luckily the back of the Hypafix Tape has a hard cover material that you rip off when you put it on, which made the tape easy to handle.

I use this for taping an ABD pad to my abdominal wound. I ordered by accident thinking it was the Hypafix with the lines to help cut a straight line. To our surprise and delight, the backing comes off easily. The tape sticks to the skin and ABD pad yet can be removed without pulling on my hair or ripping the outside of the ABD pad. I highly recommend this over other wound tape over what my insurance will provide. The company used by my insurance only provides 2 inch wide tape which also means four measure and cuts versus one with this tape. The tape the wound supply company provides also rips my hair from the skin.

Is better than traditional tape. If have sensitive skin it can still cause irritation if have to use it continuously for a period of time.

You have to hold it in place for awhile to get it to stick when first applied. Starts to lift around edges after 2-3 days. Does not peel skin when removed. Not waterproof.

Very gentle, does not leave any marks on delicate skin. Have removed, re-positioned, and worn all day without it losing adhesion.

This is my preferred medical tape, it sticks great but does not hurt to remove.

I'm allergic to all adhesives but this product is perfect for me - easy to remove thank goodness!
