This book is an excellent book for both beginners and advanced players interested in the BDSM community. This book gives a great point of view of the history of BDSM, customs, protocals, etc although these are mostly all from the authro's point of view but he has a wonderful way of writing it so that one can either "take it or leave it" but in such a great way because he openly presents his views so that you know that these are his believes and experiences. I recommend this book to everyone that is looking for a good book that is easy to read to get a good basic information about the Old Gaurd lifestyle.

This is a good overview of the Leather Lifestyle as he saw it. But while the author may have been trained in Old Guard practices, much of it is later practices. For example, I do not think the OG used terms like Grand Master or Jr. Doms. It reflects more of what he saw over the years than what was in the scene when he first entered it.Putting Old Guard in the title may help sales but you may want to stick to what Guy Baldwin said on the topic.

Beautifully written and very well done. This is a great tool, and an important history to know!

Words cannot begin to describe this book as i have taken the time to learn the details of the culture and steps to better serve. The history combined with protocols, and suggestions for better control. This is a must read for both sub and Dom, if you are wanting to know more about tradition for BDSM by all means click the purchase button.

I love this book. It came in great condition as well.

Very informative look at one man's journey through the Leather lifestyle. A great perspective for people starting out in their exploration of BDSM/alternative sexualities.Provides examples of certain ceremonies that he personally witnessed, and some of the rhymes and reasons for things being so secretive earlier on. A good model for modern leather communities to reflect back on, and see how much we've changed.

Not so much a handbook as one persons take on 'how to do submission in a leather environment'. It gives a lot of interesting options to create rituals between you and your partner but feels outdated and one sided (as if the purpose of submission is to only make the dominant party look good?).Interesting if you're interested in picking out ideas for your relationships and how they can include protocols occasionally found in a leather environment.
