Confusion on required battery
I bought this because I've had great luck with Makita in the past. The previous corded model I had lasted 15 years. I already had 18 volt batteries with a couple of other Makita tools, so I bought this expecting the batteries to fit. The manual says it does accept the BL 1850 I have, but it won't slide on due to a little additional metal tab on this tool that my others (drill, driver, vacuum) don't have. I'll be returning this.

Not A Must Have Tool
I had high hopes when I bought this tool. 4inch grinders in general are super handy on the jobsite, I LOVE all of my other Makita tools & I love 4 inch grinders. They cut aluminum, concrete, brick, everything, like a champ. NOT this little fella, the power just isn't there. It bogs down real easy & doesn't recover. Concrete, aluminum, even stucco bog down real easy. Oddly enough the only thing that it performed decent on was when I cut an old steel rim apart to get the tire off, I was surprised. It cut the steel pretty good, with light pressure. I have a feeling that this is a problem regardless of the brand, I just happened to buy the Makita. Maybe the brushless version of this tool would be better. I'd rather save the $100.00 & drag a cord out when need be, to use a corded grinder. Short version: I bought this to use occasionally when a cordless grinder would've been really handy. This tool didn't have enough power to even be a good once in a while tool. Save your money until technology improves

OK but for light work only.
Have used this variously for the last 12 months and am not overly impressed as it just does not have a lot of power and drains the battery very quickly. It does have it's place and can be useful if you are in an area that is hard to get power to but it has to be light work because any more than that and it just takes forever and you burn through your batteries and in my opinion your better off just running out the lead and using the 240volt grinder.

Love it

These are better than the brushless Makita because it's 10,000 RPM and the BL is 8,500 RPM!
