Swell UK Pond Vacuum Cleaner and Sludge Vac for Garden Fish Ponds. Includes Three Nozzles

We have two ponds! Well, one Blagdon Half Moon Pool, and the other a small pre-formed "wild Life" pond. The pool is overstocked with fish but is beautifully clear, and the water quality mostly good. The pond has only eight gold fish but is muddy and very cloudy, caused by using the wrong type of pond soil when planting out pots of pond plants, but the water quality checks out as good. I had been thinking of clearing out the pond back to basics, at some risk to the fish, dreading having to do the same with the pool, since we would most certainly loose some fish. My wife stumbled across the Swell Compact Sludge Vac | Pond Vacuum Cleaner when she was trawling through Amazon the other day. Well, we've had stuff from Swell, which turns out to be Pontec manufacture, several times now, and it's all been good quality and reasonably effective. This pond vac is no exception! It is excellent! Problem solved at a couple of passes of the nozzle, so to speak. Everything you need, apart from a container for the dirty water/sludge is provided. We didn't want to take too much water out of either the pond or the pool, since we do a partial water change with the pool every week. The Compact sludge vac helped us by changing the water AND clearing sludge at the same time. The machine works in what at first seems a rather strange way in that it has a twenty second on/off cycle - THANK GOODNESS! It sucks for twenty seconds, and then pauses for twenty seconds, as it empties the container of sludge and dirty water, which gives us lesser beings time to fill one, not two, but three two gallon buckets with the outpouring sludge/dirty water. We found that two cycles in both the pond and the pool emptied out enough water for our weekly water change, and with the second pause we had time to switch the vac off. In our garden we do need two of us for this process, but since we work together anyway this was no problem (Boss had the job of taking the sludgy water up the garden to water her plants, whilst I looked after the vac and refilling the pond and pool - by gravity from our nearby water butt - a very good arrangement!!!). Just a brief update to help preserve marital harmony - well it works for me! We have replaced the emptying buckets with a large plastic dust bin for receiving the waist water - much less hassle! But there is more. Carrying buckets and water cans full of sludgy water up our garden (which is up hill anyway) has been replaced by an: Amazon Brand - Umi 400W Submersible Pump for Clean Dirty Water 8000 LPH, Drain Water from Garden Pond Pool Hot Tub Flooded Cellar, with Float Switch costing £50.00 What a difference! We connected a half inch garden hose to the outlet of the pump, and this hose takes the dirty water right up to the top of our garden with just enough output not to flatten the plants, but to give them a lovely drink of fishy sludge water - they appear to love it! No more staggering up the garden with two gallon buckets of sludgy water - marvelous!!! Just a tip. If like me you don't use a non return valve on the hose you will find that you may have to prime the dirty water pump by laying it on it's side in the next full dustbin to let the air out - works OK after that! Well, what more can I say? If you have a similar problem with your pool/pond, and who hasn't, you could do a lot worse than looking at this Swell Compact Sludge Vac | Pond Vacuum Cleaner | Efficient Pond Cleaning | Three Nozzles. Well worth the eighty nine odd pound investment. Well done Pontec and Swell!

I had a pond that badly needed cleaning, this pond vac made the job 100% easier. The automatic start stop on this vac makes all the difference. Would highly recommend this pond vac.

Great little vac, not a very big capacity, but empties automatically so doesnt need to be big. Very happy with it.

This is the first Powered pond vac I have ever encountered and if I had have known how good this one is I would have purchased it long ago. This a very simple to set up and use bit of kit - from delivery to actually using it was 10 minutes. There are enough extensions included for a good long reach for bigger pond owners. My particular pond is a Blagdon half moon type. With in 4 x 30 second sweeps of this it had grabbed to thick layer of sludge from the floor of my pond and around the filter -the attached pond “brush” also cleaned the liner sides effectively. I love how the vac operates - 30 seconds on - 30 seconds off to expel the collected water and sludge. I chose to have the extractor hose routed to the drain -quick effective way of doing a partial water change at same time. The difference this has made to my pond is significant. Another go in spring when I give my filter it’s annual MOT will leave me with a sparkling pond. I intend to keep up with my water treatments to keep algae at bay -after all -this is a pond vac that gets rid of sludge out of your pond - not a water treatment plant . Best part of this machine is that most of the hoses and tools can be stored inside the drum when not in use. Very pleased with my purchase and no negatives at all so far.

That vacuum is ok the only downside to it is that it's cuts out every 30 seconds to empty the water them it takes 30 seconds to turn back on again so it takes longer to empty the pond . If I had known this I wouldn't of brought it 😕

I didnt want to spend over £100 just for a pond vacuum. This works as expected, i bought a 'sock' style nylon filter for the outlet end separately. The suction is very powerful (used on a raised circular 2.5ft deep pond). Remove any plants you dont want damaged first. I have the outlet hose placed into a spare large dustbin and the vacuum raised up on a bench next to the pond so 1. i have no issue getting the suction hose into the pond and 2. the outlet hose is same level or higher than the dustbin so no issues it running into that, however i still have my partner assist as once its full of water it is some weight. I use the slim nozzle so i dont accidentally get the fish. The filter wont stop the very fine algae that clouds the water, hence filling the dustbin with around 100 ltrs. leaving over night to settle, then using the vacuum to suck that up and empty back into the pond. The water is looking better, and i have done this three times over a few days. Remember to clean off the inner sponge/foam filter that seems to like collecting the blanket weed on! Dont run it straight back into the pond thinking it will filter out debris, it wont unless you have a filter basket or as i did buy a 'sock' for the end. Tights didnt work and i used several types hoping the fine algae would be removed. All in all very happy.

Hi, What you see is not what you get, Its rubbish, the picture is of the more expensive PondOvac. This is the fifth pond hoover I have purchased in the last 35 years and definitely the worse. Due to some health concerns, I was unable to use this product until six weeks after my purchase and had gone past the one - month return returns policy of Amazon. Two leaks in the suction hose, leaks from the hose to chamber connection, this product will pick up some waste off the bottom but struggles to pick any leaves up. My Koi Pond is 3000 gallons and needs regular hoovering because of large Sycamore trees in the area, this product will not do the job. Previous purchasers of Oase and Pond o Vac hoovers have been excellent, all with 1400W motors as this one has, the picture of the product used by Amazon on the website looks like the pond o vac and is not what you get. This is the first pond hoover I have purchased, that uses extension tubes that will sink to the bottom if they come loose, and they do, there is no real purchase when joining them together due to the unnecessary high gloss and thickness of the tubes. All in all, it's not a good buy. The product was assembled and used as per instruction booklet but very poor performance and leaky. One last thing, the sludge collection bag is just about big enough to put your pet budgie in during the winter, it measures approximately 8 x 5 inches. I will now have to purchase a vacuum that will do what its supposed to do. Amazon, you need to change the picture you are using to advertise this product, its not the one that gets delivered. I did contact Swell but a waste of time. Kind Regards Tony Mc Hi, this is an update on my previous review, Sept 2022. I gave this Swell sludge vac a second go after the winter, to see how it performed, after I had removed most of the fallen Autumn leaves before the winter. What a waste of money. Still wouldn't pick up the well rotted leaves, left in over the winter, even the Sycamore seeds ( Helicopters) where a struggle getting them off the bottom of a 3ft 6" deep pond. The extension tubes are shorter than the standard one by 3" and are also narrower than standard tubes, which restricts the suction from motor, and as I mentioned in my last review, if you drop one in the pond, you will have to get in to retrieve it, because they don't float. The two locking handles to secure the motor to the water chamber, do nothing whatsoever, completely useless. Some reviewers mention about the motor shutting off every 30 seconds, that's what its supposed to do, in order to empty the chamber. I see Amazon are still showing a wrong picture of this vac, very deceiving as it looks like the more expensive PondOvac made by Oase. Mine is now being consigned to the local refuse centre. Very disappointed with this, I will now revert back to Oase models, more expensive, but my Forty Koi deserve it. I hope Amazon show my update. Kind Regards. Tony Mc.

Utilisé une fois. Patience car s'arrête toutes les 20 secondes puis redémarre. par contre le descriptif devrait spécifié que la prise est anglaise ou US. Personnellement j'ai couper le fil pour mettre une prise française

Il fonctionne comme expliqué dans la description. Il aspire puis quand le contenant est plein, il recrache. ça se fait tout seul, il faut juste prendre le coup. ça nous a permis de bien nettoyer notre bassin.
