definititivly a good product, also a good company (I think)
pros: I adore this product. I like to blend up a couple Tsps or Tbsps of gojis and coco nibs in a coffee grinder (separate from the coffee! You'll never filter it out without cheese cloth) and mix it into my morning coffee with a whisk. -Flavor! I'm so looking forward to baking with gojis -Delicious with ice cream (ben and jerries pistachio, kill me now) when frozen they have a fantastic crunch. -Only purchased one bag so far of this brand and I'm hoping they always come as dry as this bag; I bought truvibe's first and they were not as dry and so even stickier on the teeth and slightly harder to eat imo. cons: -They are delicious on their own as a snack but very sticky on the teeth, look out for sensitive filling, braces etc. -I tried re-hydrating them but ended up composting most of the batch, they're very slimy. -(the big grudge) The nutrition label claims there is around 60g of protein in this 1lb bag, maybe slightly more even, I don't have the bag in front of me. I don't believe that for a freaking second. 60g of protein is a half pound of steak! The FDA DOES NOT APPROVE NUTRITION LABELS! They issue recalls then and if they feel like it. Do your own research! Viva Labs, amend your label!!!!! I estimate that there is closer to 10-20 grams of protein in this 1 pound bag. Viva Labs sent me an email 5 days after I received the product offering to donate $10 to "Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing child mortality worldwide by providing children with essential vitamins and minerals" for every newly posted review (positive or negative I assume). I know nothing about this charity but it seems a fantastic offer if vitamin angels and viva labs do indeed follow through on their promises. I loved the product but probably wouldn't have taken the time out of my day to write as comprehensive as a review of this product, despite the fact that I am enjoying it at this very moment, without this soft of kind hearted offer. Even if that $10 donation is a lie, and I don't believe it is, or if every kid that my own $10 donation goes to dies of starvation despite this effort, I wanted to mention it because I believe it's a beautiful business model and you never know who you might inspire in the unlikeliness of venues.

Delicious
This is my first time trying these and I have to say, they are delicious. Remind me of tart raisins. Its a good source of nutrients. The seal on the bag is good and tight and the berries are a good rich red color. Will definitely buy again

2 BAD BAGS BOUGHT 2 YEARS APART. ROCK HARD. LEAD WARNING. DRY. STALE. AWFUL.
Secind time buying these. Originally gave them 2 stars, now giving them one because the 2nd batch is even worse. Update 11-2025: Didn't realize that I had ordered this brand a few years ago. Once again, these were super hard. Inedible. I was trying to save myself from the madness of driving to Costco to buy their brand the week of Thanksgiving. Big mistake. These expire 18 months from now so age is not the issue. The problem is that they are so incredibly hard. They're teeth breakers; extremely hard like gravel. I'd say they're even harder than dried lentils. Unlike any other brand of goji berries I have ever purchased, there is absolutely no way to eat these without soaking in warm water first, and even then they don't reconstitute into the tasty goji goodness one reasonabky expects from an expensive "treat" product like this. They seem like they'll be a good deal at this price point because they're organic but these are definitely a poor quality product that the manufacturer should have thrown out. Except they're consistently bad, apparently, so they're selling them like this intentionally. Not cool. Original review: Taste was ok. They are very hard, many broken and turning grey in color. Also Prop 65 warning surprised me. If I'd known, I wouldn't have ordered. I couldn't find any info on the Net about how much lead, etc is in these. There's no safe amount but some internet sources say the lead content is less than is found in typical wheat, not enough to land someone in the hospital if they eat a whole bag? But who knows. I started eating these as a health food. Shame on the manufacturer for intentionally and knowingly harming us. That said, before I noticed the Prop 65 warning, these were also just really hard. Teeth breaking hard. Pull your fillings out hard. I bought them on sale. My usual brand was Nativas which taste better and are softer.

Average Quality Goji Berries
The Viva Naturals Organic Dried Goji Berries are decent but not outstanding. The flavor is okay—slightly sweet but a bit drier and tougher than I expected. They work fine for smoothies or oatmeal, but not great for snacking straight from the bag. Good price, just average quality.
