Zyliss Classic Cheese Grater - Handheld Rotary Grater with Handle - Vegetable, Chocolate, Hard Cheese & Nut Grater – White

Have always wanted a rotary cheese grater to mimic the tableside service at an Italian restaurant (just got a curved gnocchi paddle & Kitchenaid stand mixer with pasta attachments to go pasta wild). I ordered the Restaurant version (~$2 more) but received the Classic version (not sure how different they are anyway). The Zyliss is designed for great ERGONOMICS (also reversible for left-handers) and WELL-CONSTRUCTED (plastic feels more solid and durable than other models I've tried). Some complain of it not fully grating your cheese block but I find cold cheese grates well to the end and just don't press down too hard. If you get a skinny piece stuck between the rotary blade and housing, just flip it out with a fork tine and resume grating. Have yet to try it on nuts or chocolate but will update this review if not equally satisfied. Given there are only 3 parts (body, crank and metal grating barrel), it's also very easy to clean. Although rated for dishwashing, I handwash with warm water & mild soap (right away) to make it easiest on myself ... and so it's ready for your next trattoria experience. Buon appetito everyone!

This is perfect! Exactly like the Olive Garden cheese grater - exactly what I wanted. We use this everyday without fail, it works amazingly and is super easy to use, and the fact that it can be dishwashed is just so great. We only ever use it for parmesan so I can't speak for other cheeses but it really does a great job for parmesan.

The grater cuts well on hard cheese, parmigiana etc. I tried it on a block of cheddar and it grated well to a point then created a soft mush. The grater is a good concept and is well made. The plastic is thick. My issue is that it is very small and not easy to hold if you have medium to large hands. My other observation is that the grinding handle is not removable so it is difficult to clean. I had to soak it in hot water to loosen the cheese off the grinder and rinse it under fast running water to get it clean. If I knew this prior I would have opted for a different larger size grater.

I bought this hoping it would be ok. But was very pleased when it exceeded my expectations. It pumps out the parmesan cheese. It’s very easy to use too. Easy to hold and use. I still would rather use it over a bowl rather than directly on a plate as it can be a little messy. So in the bowl is simple and clean. Good deal for the price and quality. I just hope it holds up over time.

Sister loves to use this tool for grating cheese instead of grating box.. alot easier, easy cleanup, well made tool! Easy to clean.

It’s easy to use, as good if not better than more expensive ones

With a bit of effort grates 10 year aged Parmesan, cheese hard like a rock. Looks well made, white reenforced plastic of sorts with a scary sharp stainless drum and a soft rubber like material on the handle end. One drawback, when grating aged cheese, the drum puts a lot of pressure on the handle/drum connection, a coarse thread like connection that becomes very very tight and difficult to undo for cleaning. Under “normal” circumstances, its easy to clean, the loading area is big enough for a good chunk of cheese, about 60 by 45mm.

I have wanted a grater like this for some time, and finally hit Add To Cart. The overall design is nice, the handle can be installed on either side, and the grating quality is good. But, the parts torque and twist so it feels cheap and flimsy. That is very disappointing.

We wouldn’t look back. Having grated manually for years - this is the best product - we love it

I had a huge block of parmesan cheese and used a regular hand grater. Decided to finally buy this and so glad I did. Works great and so easy to clean. Will probably buy for gifts in the future for my daughters.
