Frankford Arsenal Rotary Tumbler and Accessories with Media Separator, Cleaning Essentials, For Brass Cleaning, Reloading, and Gunsmithing

I am not a high volume reloader so this size is perfect for me. First batch was about 100 deprimed 223 and 30 30-06 casings. I added the pins (2 Lb container), the brass, filled the drum to the base of the neck with hot water and added a healthy squirt of Dawn and 1 CC of Lemishine powder (Walmart top shelf in dish soap isle). Made sure the lid was on tight and let it tumble for a little over two hours. I put the whole unit into the laundry room tub which reduced the noise in the rest of the house. I had also purchased the media screen for dumping the water and rinsing the brass while still in the drum.. I already had a Frankford Arsenal media separator. Dumped the drum into the media separator and all of the pins fell to the bottom.. I purchased the magnet pick up tool. It is definitely worth the purchase price. Dumped the clean brass on a towel and the pins onto a paper towel. Let everything dry over night. The brass looks like new! I used a universal decapper to remove the primers. For the best looking handloads, resize before tumbling. If you are doing military brass, swage the primer pockets before tumbling. For dirty range pickup brass you may need to do a short tumble to remove dirt and grit before sizing.. By getting as much preliminary work out of the way before tumbling, the resulting finished loads will look like factory new loads. Right now, it is still late winter/early spring and the relative humidity in the house is below 50% so drying on a towel works OK. The next morning I used the magnet to pick up the dry pins and drop them into the dried drum. I am actively looking for a used dehydrator at the thrift stores so that as the humidity rises in the warm months, I can successfully dry the brass in a reasonable amount of time. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase and glad I bought the extras.

So far so good! It does a great job at cleaning brass. It doesn't leak and I bought some strainer screens to go with it and a magnet and some steel pins for media. I have been using dish soap and a little bit of citric acid then rinsing well. It is kind of noisey but doesn't bother me. The cases I am showing in the photos were only in there about 25 minutes. It can easily hold a few hundred cases. I think it's a good value compared to the other ones I saw. I am glad I bought this one instead of the one that uses dry media cause I don't have to keep buying the media. And there is no dust. It is strong and good plastic. Nice and thick.

Works better than the shakers I’ve used. Will never use them again now that I have something that actually works better. As far as leaks I did have a little problem at first but learned not to use so much hot water. It’s easy to use. Cleaning it out that’s no time at all it’s thick enough that it shouldn’t wear out for a long time

UPDATED: I purchased Nutricost Citric Acid 1000mg (1 gram), 120 Capsules and added on capsule which appears to be about the recommended amount for one tumble session. As you can see, it's nearly new looking. In addition, the primer pockets were cleaned extremely well. Dang! First batch with no Lemi Shine just warm water & detergent. After an hour, the water was dark black & my brass is spotless. My 5.56 brass was completely fouled with burnt on powder, and now it's looks new less that little extra bright shine that should come with using a citrus-based Lemi shine or equivalent. It's definitely loud though, but an excellent value for the money. The rubber seal is very thick & durable, so I don't think it will leak over time. I cleaned a mix of 9M, 6.5CM, 300 BO, 5.56 & 6.5 PRC. I'll probably keep using my sonic cleaner post primer removal & full-length sizing to remove the lubricant.

This product exceeded my expectations. I received my rotary tumbler today and tumbled my first batch of aprox. 150 pieces of .223 Remington cases. I used 2 lbs of Frankford Arsenal stainless steel tumbling media, 1 oz. of Frankford Arsenal ultrasonic brass cleaning solution and water. After running the tumbler for 2 hours I had shinny clean brass inside and out including the primer pocket. This level of cleaning I never was able to achieve with my vibrating tumbler and ultra sonic cleaner! I experienced no issues with the rotation of the barrel. The user manual notes that if the brass sets at the bottom during tumbling to manual rotate the barrel a few times. If the brass remains at the bottom, they suggest removing some brass. I did not experience any issues with aprox. 150 pieces .233 in the tumbler. When the tumbling is done: How do you empty the water and separate the media from the brass? I used a splatter screen set on top of a strainer and slowly poured the water from the barrel making sure no stainless steel media was poured out, if by chance some did I was hoping the splatter screen would catch any media. I think I will buy a coffee pot filter which has a very fine filter screen to speed up emptying the water from the barrel. I had no issue pouring the water out of the barrel and no media flowed out. To separate the media from the brass, I did buy the Frankford Arsenal media transfer magnet based on other reviews mentioning this was must, I agree. The magnet does not fit in the barrel so I laid down a towel and placed heavy duty shop paper towels on top of the towel and pour the media and cases on to the paper towels. I could now use the magnet to separate the media from the brass. The final step was to dry the brass in my brass drier and using heavy duty shop paper towels I dried the media followed by using a hair drier on low to make sure the media was dry. I think the only improvement this product could benefit from would be to make a lid with very fine screen so that the water can be poured out without loosing any media. Perhaps I will contact Frankfort Arsenal and make that suggestion.

love it just use some simple green and citric acid and they come out amazing dry with towel much better than dry tumbling

Just in case you have the same idea as I did. For what it was designed to do it works great. For use as a ball mill it sucks! It spins to slow, at 30 rpm and it doesn't create the cascading effect needed for proper milling. So I had the bright idea to install 2- 1/2" CPVC pipes as lifters set 180° apart to compensate for the lack of rotation speed. The motor said " I don't think so!" The motor doesn't have enough torque to spin the container because of the extra resistance of the blocks. This was only with 1kg of media and 200g of mill. It's rated for 15 lbs/ 6.8 kg. So don't make the same mistake as I and think it can be used for a ball mill.

This thing has no business being as good as it is. There is a premium on nearly everything Frankford Arsenal produces but I'll be damned if it isn't worth it. My calibre of choice is 45-70 and .308, and this does a spectacular job on both. I go between wet wash with stainless steel pins and crushed walnut media and I'm always impressed. I've begun collecting 5.56 casings from my outdoor range - and despite most of the casings looking worse than scrap, they've all come out looking brand new. Don't forget to grab the filter caps if you plan on wet washing your casings. The media separator isn't necessary, but man is it nice to have.
