Man😮💨
Took me a minute to get through it. Between getting angry and my imagination of the scenes, I had to take it all in slowly. Definitely glad I bought it though.

I was under the assumption there would be photocopies of newspaper accounts.

Painful reality of the truth.
I dislike the fact that we live in a nation of people that displayed such animalistic tendencies. BUT there is nothing more devastating than karma!Do people really think that all the destruction that the US is going through is climate change? And also the other nations.Think again...

JARRING & INFORMATIVE
This is a book that definitely has its place in history. There need to be accounts of atrocities and racism. There are people trying to erase awareness. I both read and scanned this book. It was too depressing/horrific to read too closely. I particularly appreciate that these actually are, and are presented as newspaper clippings. I just don't believe the statistics on lynchings, I think they were much higher. Yet we must appreciate that as a part of history too.Painful and enlightening, it takes a certain type of person, with a certain interest in mind to read this book cover to cover. It IS NOT FICTION, it IS NOT A THRILLER, they are clippings of fact for information and awareness.

Informative. But sad.
Excellent information given. Taught stuff about post slavery lynchings.

100 years is not that long ago (if you think about it)...
Although racism exists and permeates in both the North and South, the vast majority of newspaper articles and editorials cited in this book are of events that occurred in the Southern states. Whenever people boast about "Southern pride", or fly the Confederate flag, or speak of "States' rights", or express the need to "preserve Southern heritage" (i.e., Southern "way of life")... all that I can think about are the horrors contained within this book. I was disgusted--and I was angry and mad as hell--by the things that I read in this book.I originally wanted to read a book chronicling all of the white "race riots" that occurred during this same time period, but could not find one on this subject. There are a couple of newspaper articles in "100 Years Of Lynchings" that mention instances where after a lynching, whites--who were already whipped into a frenzy--went on to riot in the black parts of town, and beat the living hell out of any black person they saw on the street, loot black stores, and even burn down entire blocks of black-owned establishments, churches, and homes.

Little pictures and its literally logging these as statistics, not a proper read, in my view.
