How does the red track connects to the other tracks?

It doesn't. It sits right up against it and the train transfers over without issue.

Do the wooden Thomas trains fit on these tracks also?

You can buy connectors that link the wooden tracks to these plastic tracks, so I think they should fit. These tracks have indentations to help the engines cog-like wheels to pull it along, so the smaller trains (not the minis) that connect magnetically or with a clip will fit very snug unless it has some weight to it (like the slightly heavier small ones like diesal 10 or "hurricane" trains)

Does this work with normal wooden train tracks?

The connectors are different and the rail dimensions aren't quite right. If you run a normal wooden engine on this track it won't seat properly.
