Works for Hardwood, But Thin
This mat works well for hardwood floors and fulfilled my need to avoid damaging or prematurely wearing the floor due to using a roller chair. It is pretty thin (Versus other more pricey versions I have had in the past) and moves around to some degree, but within a tolerable range. Overall for the cost is a decent value and functional to protect your floor.

Worst purchase and experience EVER!!
Let me start by saying that Amazon should offer negative stars and ratings. This seller and product do NOT deserve the 1 star you have to click on.The product does not flatten no matter how many things you pile on it in an attempt to do so. It does not stay in place. As a matter of fact it constantly shifts around and bunches up against the legs of my desk. While most people can just bend over and straighten it out I am disabled and that is not an option. And I simply should not have to.In an attempt to return for refund I was told that because shipping costs were expensive they could offer me a 10% discount and they would even let me keep the disfunctional piece of crap. Oh goody!!! I was willing to pay $56.00 for a product that works. How can a small business owner think that refunding me $5.60 would make everything all better? Seriously? I do t want the trash. I want a mat that works. Instead they feel I should be quite content spending $50.40 for something I am now going to throw away. And don't forget, I still have to purchase a mat that can do what it claims. I typically love supporting the small businesses that partner here with Amazon, but this is absurd. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The mats work for me. I use them in high traffic areas.
The Floor mats lay down nicely and you can walk on them without messing them up. I have one over my carpet by the door and it stays put and catches some of the dirt that would of been tracked inside. I have started to take my shoes off when I come inside and it also is a nice place to leave your shoes.

Smells foul.
I had to leave the thing outside for more than a day before the smell started to dissipate. It’s really really bad. Do not expect to use this as soon as you get it.

A workable chair mat if you don't mind adjusting regularly
Have been using this mat for a few months now.Good: inexpensive, does protect the floor, sufficiently largeBad: very thin, prone to folding up when you drag feet across it, *constantly* being moved around by the chairI bought this to protect a wood floor, and it does that. The mat constantly shifts around, however, despite the chair being on wheels. It never maintains a stable position and must be adjusted regularly. This is more annoying than it sounds. I recommend getting a thicker mat that is more resistant to movement and folding.

Chair Slider
Fit the bill as replacement for old chair pad. Good quality, design and value.

Air it out and the smell eventually goes away
When it arrived, I immediately set it up to use at my computer desk. I noticed the strong chemical smell right away, but figured it would eventually dissipate. However, after a couple weeks, the smell continued to seem quite strong. Then I looked at the instructions, and it says to air it out for "a day" to eliminate the smell. I moved it to a room I could keep a window open in and a fan going, and it took over a month (!) to eliminate the smell. Then I moved it back to my computer desk. The smell was there for a little while longer, although faint, but I haven't noticed it in a while now.Keeping your chair in one place too long seems to generate divots, so rotate the wheel base on your chair every so often and it should be fine.
