Sheet Metal Shaping demystifies this seemingly black art with information on tools and basic skills and 14 customizable projects, fully illustrated with step-by-step color photography. Whether you want to create custom or replacement parts or build an entire automobile body, this metalworking course for gearheads from award-winning automotive-restoration author and professor Ed Barr will take you as far as your interests reach. First, youโll learn how to assemble your ideal toolkit , as well as how to build a power hammer and an English wheel . In the process, Barr will help you make informed choices based on available space and budget. Once youโre all set up, he addresses the concepts of shape and form . The projects are presented in a way that you can easily apply them to your own vehicles , whatever they may be. Barr also takes the time to show how the projects can be accomplished with different available tools . As you go, youโll gain the skills and confidence for tackling the increasingly complex cases presented. Work your way up to building a fender utilizing the wheeling machine you built earlier; then move on to building a Model T speedster body and an Indy car , and later a challenging โโ34 Plymouth fender . The book even includes common goofs and how to avoid and, if necessary, correct them. Written in an engaging and approachable style , Sheet Metal Shaping serves equally well as a useful supplement to Barrโs previous Professional Sheet Metal Fabrication or as a must-have standalone volume for any fabricatorโs library. The Motorbooks Workshop series covers the topics that engage and interest gearheads. Written by authorities in the subject matter and illustrated with color photography, Motorbooks Workshop is the ultimate source for how-to know-how. Review: Teaches you many tricks to successful metal working - This is Ed Barr's second book and just as informative as his first, and his humor is outstanding!!!! You will learn many tricks that will take the mystery out of working with sheetmetal and give you confidence to tackle projects you have only looked at. Ed teaches you how to do the job without all the expensive equipment you might see in a professional shop, allowing us to afford to do things in our garages. Review: Packed full of info - One of the best metal shaping books Iโve ever seen. Super dense and full of practical information and skill building practice projects.

"Sheet Metal Shaping" is a great book!
If you have an interest in learning how to work with metal this is a great book. You will see and receive explanations for techniques that are only attained through many years of practice. I had the opportunity to take summer class at McPherson college where Ed Barr teaches metal shaping and these are the techniques that are taught there. I loved the class and love the book!

Very informative
This book is way smarter than I am...but I'm learning. Lots of great information that's well presented. Someday I'd like to be as good at forming metal as the people featured in this book are.

Another blockbuster from Ed Barr if you do any metal work
We do partial and full car restoration here and the book, just as the first volume, is loaded with techniques and tricks of the trade. If you do any metal work, patch panels, metal repair, etc, this is a treasure trove
