Antiques at Home: Cherchez's Book of Collecting and Decorating with Antiques Hardcover – October 14, 1989

I have loved this book from the moment I borrowed it from the library! After borrowing the book several times over 11 years, I finally decided to purchase it through Amazon and I was not disappointed as it was a new book from the publisher. It has become a part of my personal library. The book serves as a reference for me! I love it!

Loved the history lesson in art, found some gems of wisdom that I hadn't found other places, like a good overview of how and why certain pieces were used and how that changed over time. A dated book (1984) when referring to shops and and how to find art (the internet has changed how we research hallmarks and shop for pieces), but many of the ideas are still fresh, and basic art and design will always be relevant. I learned a lot and enjoyed the book as a visual treasure. How to care for specific art was very helpful. The author had a lifetime of knowledge to share and she did it well.

Clearly a USED book ~ with library stickers on the cover ~ and marks on the cover that needed to be cleaned off. Disappointed but glad to have the reading material on my bookshelf..

Another, wonderful, beautiful book by Barbara Milo Ohrbach----I would love to invite her to my home for lunch, so she can feast her eyes, on my own personal collection!

I really like any book by this author. She has a sensibility about antiques, and scent that propel me to try new things. If you are interested in displaying your antiques, this is a wonderful idea book.

Received a dirty used book. I didn't even bother returning it since it wasn't worth my time. Very disappointed. Noticed another buyer had same experience so wanted to warn others.

This is my all time favorite book on Antiques,beautiful photography, and REAL informationfor anyone who wants to learn more about antiques,collect just one type of thing, or just lovesbeautiful things. It is a great gift if you knowsomeone likes the thrill of the hunt for treasure or justjunk.
